The Claddagh Ring is often associated with the Celts. However, the roots of the Claddagh ring tend to indicate it is most likely an Irish design. If you are like me, you know that couple whose wedding bands are The Claddagh Ring. Correct association or not, the symbolism that radiates from this set of rings is evident the first time you see it. My research on the design was very enlightening. It has been used as a loyalty symbol, a unity symbol and a friendship symbol. Today, it is used to represent love and marriage as well. But that does not limit the uses of this xstitch pattern. Like so many other symbols in our lives today, it can represent the meaning you declare. Like the others in my collection it is in a large format, 11-7/8" x 5-1/8" (30.12 cm x 12.88 cm) when stitched on 14 count Aida fabric. You can simply adjust the fabric count to adjust the size of the finished project. A conversion chart is included in the instructions. Feel free to adjust the colors as you see fit. The beauty of this symbol is the diversity of it's meanings. Gifting this design has endless possibilities. This pattern comes with two pdf files, one for printing the design on multiple sheets and a single page for opening on a device to stitch from the screen. Use it on your computer, tablet, or smart phone. A pdf reader is required. The files become available immediately upon checkout. If you have any questions, please reach out to me. Celtic traditions are as strong as ever in Ireland, and these are the best Celtic symbols for Irish mothers and their children.
Details In just a century since they first appeared, the textured wool sweaters of the Aran Islands have become "as tenacious an international symbol of Ireland as the harp and shamrock," writes fashion historian Deirdre McQuillan. It wasn't until the home crafts movement in the early 1900s that Aran's distinctive patterns became known around the world. Today, from tourist shops to fashion shows, one can find sweaters based on stitches that were invented by grandmothers and great-grandmothers only a few generations ago. 0.86 kgs 1.9 lbs Garment Measurements Select Color - Size Charcoal - M Charcoal - L Charcoal - XL Charcoal - XXL Natural - L Natural - XL Natural - XXL 71.1 cm Length (from high-point shoulder) x 119.4 cm Bust/chest x 83.8 cm Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 28" Length (from high-point shoulder) x 47" Bust/chest x 33" Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 76.2 cm Length (from high-point shoulder) x 134.6 cm Bust/chest x 88.9 cm Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 30" Length (from high-point shoulder) x 53" Bust/chest x 35" Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 73.7 cm Length (from high-point shoulder) x 127 cm Bust/chest x 86.4 cm Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 29" Length (from high-point shoulder) x 50" Bust/chest x 34" Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 68.6 cm Length (from high-point shoulder) x 111.8 cm Bust/chest x 81.3 cm Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 27" Length (from high-point shoulder) x 44" Bust/chest x 32" Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 73.7 cm Length (from high-point shoulder) x 127 cm Bust/chest x 86.4 cm Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 29" Length (from high-point shoulder) x 50" Bust/chest x 34" Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 76.2 cm Length (from high-point shoulder) x 134.6 cm Bust/chest x 88.9 cm Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 30" Length (from high-point shoulder) x 53" Bust/chest x 35" Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 71.1 cm Length (from high-point shoulder) x 119.4 cm Bust/chest x 83.8 cm Sleeve (center neck to cuff) 28" Length (from high-point shoulder) x 47" Bust/chest x 33" Sleeve (center neck to cuff) View size chart Metric US/Imperial 100% wool Features a button closure Dry clean only Made in Ireland Ships fast from USA Product ID: 306711
