La tradizione di intrecciare le palme per la Domenica delle Palme è molto antica ma in alcuni paesi del sud Italia è ancora viva. Ancora oggi sopravvivono diverse tecniche per intrecciare le palme e che vi permetteranno di realizzare un accessori originali e di grande effetto da sfoggiare nella vostra casa oppure durante la processione. Potete intrecciarle seguendo uno schema preciso, oppure potete lasciarvi ispirare da tutte le immagini che troverete nella nostra fotogallery e provare a creare qualcosa di speciale, seppur molto elaborato: troverete infatti mazzi di fiori, ciotole e contenitori per vivande. NO, non sto invecchiando. Anzi, sono sempre più curiosa e non voglio che i miei interessi restino ‘chiusi’ solo nel mondo del cibo. Da sempre ho ritenuto importante non perdere di vista le attività che creano aggregazione e ci invitano a stare insieme collaborando. Da sempre sono una sostenitrice dell’unione che fa la forza. In tutto. Magari anche nelle rivoluzioni. E si perchè le voci solitarie non le ascolta nessuno. E poi perchè la parola ‘solitudine’ fa tristezza di suo. E quando più voci si incontrano, dopo uno sforzo comune per non far prevalere la propria su quella dell’altro, spesso nascono grandi e solari risate, che tanto fanno bene al cuore. E Dio sa quanto ne avremmo bisogno. Lo scorso anno in questo periodo, mi venne in mente la solita ‘strana’ idea di recuperare un’antica tradizione in voga ancora nelle campagne, l’intreccio dei rami di ulivo per farne ‘palme’ portatrici di pace. E’ stata una bellissima esperienza e quest’anno mi è stato chiesto di organizzare nuovamente un corso. E io, con la mia amica Lucia, la vera esperta di questo corso, abbiamo deciso di approfondire l’argomento e imparare altre tecniche per arricchire il nostro corso. Abbiamo percorso chilometri nelle nostre campagne alla ricerca di quelle signore che il giorno delle Palme si ritrovano a benedire interi cesti di palme strane intrecciate in mille modi. E gira e gira… abbiamo chiesto, spiegato, lasciato numeri di telefono, pregato di informarci…. ma… niente, non siamo riuscite a trovare niente di diverso da quello che sapevamo già fare noi. ‘SOLO’ rami di ulivo intrecciati. Poi, un’idea. In fondo questo è un simbolo religioso, dunque perchè non andare a chiedere proprio in un ambiente religioso? Qui da noi, nella periferia del mio paese c’è un’antica abazia di monaci benedettini e li siamo andate a bussare. Toc Toc, ma niente, i monaci hanno altre abilità, canto gregoriano e scrittura di sacri testi. Ma le palme no, non le sanno fare. Andiamo via e, un pò sconsolate, con un libretto di preghiere in mano, regalateci da un monaco anziano, intravvediamo tra i rami di pini altissimi, una struttura che sapevamo abitata da suore in pensione. Una casa di riposo per suore insomma. Diciamo, bè tanto siamo qui, tanto vale andare a chiedere. Toc toc. E ci apre una suore dal viso dolce e gentile e le spieghiamo di cosa abbiamo bisogno. Lei ci fa accomodare e ci chiama una sorella, Suor Immacolata. E da qui comincia l’avventura fantastica in un mondo a me sconosciuto che, non nascondo, fino a qualche tempo fa aveva suscitato in me sempre qualche perplessità… Suor Immacolata ha un modo di parlare che ti incanta. Ti ascolta e…. agisce immediatamente. Ci spiega la rigida gerarchia del loro istituto e ci parla del suo ruolo. E’ un pò una factotum, che assiste le suore anziane, aiuta in cucina, cura le pubbliche relazioni, intrattiene le suore nelle serate un pò malinconiche. Insomma una simpatia travolgente e noi ce ne innamoriamo immediatamente. Le chiediamo delle palme, Lucia le parla delle sue passioni, tra cui il ‘chiacchierino’, lei si entusiasma perchè condivide la stessa passione da quando era ragazza. Insomma dalla sola richiesta di informazioni prende il via una serie di incontri, ‘gli incontri del giovedì’, durante i quali impariamo tantissime cose. Scopro che ciascuna di loro, chiusa nel proprio silenzio e nelle preghiere, conserva delle abilità, delle qualità che potrebbero essere ricchezza per tutti noi. Dapprima un pò titubanti e insicure della loro memoria, appena appena stimolate dalla mia insistenza, aprono la loro mente e cominciano a parlarci, quasi accavallandosi. E così conosciamo … La suora che crea capolavori al chiacchierino, la suora che intreccia le palme ogni giorno in maniera sempre più ardita, la suora cuoca che prepara cose leggere ma squisite nella sua cucina (quel giorno c’erano melanzane alla pizzaiola, cotolette di pollo al forno con vino bianco), la suora un pò sorda che intreccia centrini all’uncinetto che ama raccontarmi delle barzellette, la suora arrabbiata e infastidita da tutto il caos che abbiamo creato, la suora dagli occhi azzurro ghiaccio che sorride timida alla mia macchina fotografica, che ancora non ci ha raccontato niente di se, la suora che dice di non saper fare niente se non lavare e stirare in maniera impeccabile, la suora dal sorriso allegro, la madre superiora che bada amorevolmente tutte le sue sorelle, cercando di risolvere i mille problemi che ogni giorno si presentano, compreso anche il collegamento telefonico e ad internet. Lascio che parlino le immagini… Durante le nostre visite le suore sono curiose di questo scambio e molto sorprese che noi possiamo essere interessate a loro. Una di loro, molto divertita da quella ventata di novità e anche un pò di invadenza che avevamo portato, mi chiede ‘ma perchè non resti con noi?’. E io ‘non credo che sia possibile… sa, a casa ho un marito e due figli che mi aspettano’. Penso ci sia rimasta un pò male. Ma tornerò e sarà contenta. E come l’ultima volta continuerò a preparare una torta, semplice e leggera, per suggellare con un piccolo dono i nostri incontri. E intanto apprendiamo nuove tecniche per rendere speciale il prossimo corso sull’intreccio delle palme che organizzeremo per la Pasqua. Quindi preparatevi che si parte a breve… E intanto io vado dalle suore.
