Es werden eventuelle Verbindungen zwischen der Sprachpolitik Tansanias und der Sprachwahl der Musiker herausgestellt. Dafür wird die Entwicklung von Swahili zur Nationalsprache Tansanias nachvollzogen. Am Schluss wird dann versucht, mit kurzem Blick auf andere Länder, in denen HipHop angeeignet wurde, die Erkenntnisse zu verallgemeinern und wenn möglich, allgemeine Theorien aufzustellen. HipHop hat sich seit seiner Entstehung in den 1970er Jahren in den Strassen New Yorks global verbreitet und sich zu einem kommerziell sehr erfolgreichen Konzept entwickelt. HipHop ist dabei nicht nur in Industrienationen wie Deutschland oder England vertreten, sondern auch in den so genannten Entwicklungsländern der dritten Welt. Hier wird HipHop von den Forschern eine besonders grosse Bedeutung beigemessen: Die Kombination afrikanische Kultur und HipHop birgt also ebenso Interessantes wie Relevantes.
