This art that I have made is something that I have poured time into to be polished and look relaxing to those who see it. The tools I used to create this work are also similar to those used by Japanese Anime background illustrators in popular Anime when they were still using traditional mediums. Today, the backgrounds are digital for most of what can be seen in Anime films. Therefore, I made the illustrations traditionally similar to the background art seen in classic anime films for all of the ones in my list here.

On the occasion of its 100th anniversary in 2015, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts asked some of the finest writers, photographers, and illustrators working today to muse about art—the nature of creativity and wonder. No instructions. No rules. The MIA commissioned these imaginative works not as a celebration of itself but of art as inspiration—an anthology of wonder. The contributors rose to the challenge with fiction, essays, photojournalism, and illustrated stories, by turns delightful and reflective, a contemporary argument for art’s ongoing vitality. Interspersed in the book are personal reflections from the museum’s own director, curators, and staff on beloved artworks in its collection.

Patrick Nagel's style needs little introduction. His minimalist style defined an era of calm, seductive women who became an iconic symbol of a generation. His elegant graphics and his depiction of the modern woman made the figurative design of this time look old-fashioned. Today, his unique, sensual style continues to resonate with generations of young designers, illustrators and artists who find inspiration in his fashion-defining style. Nagel was at the center of the new wave in Los Angeles in the late '70s and early '80s. It was a mutual love: Los Angeles influenced his artistic style, and in return he left his indelible mark on the culture of the city and far beyond. His work was able to incorporate all the modern trends in the culture of the time - from fashion photography by Guy Bourdin and Helmut Newton, music videos with David Bowie, Robert Palmer and George Michael, to the creation of the Duran Duran album cover. The diagram is an interpretation by Homer B Sprague of the cosmology embodied in John Milton's Paradise Lost. The epic poem from the 17th century recounts the story of the fall from the Garden of Eden and the role of Satan over 10, 000 lines of verse. Many illustrators have been drawn to Milton's work including Gustav Dore and William Blake. The question mark next to "vacuum" is telling, for even today there remains uncertainty about the nature of our planet's eerie surroundings. Much greater minds than mine have addressed this subject but the concensus answer seems to be "almost". A vacuum is devoid of matter, and space is very sparsely populated, but nor completely empty. The graphic remains an attractively simple interpretation of the world. I have slightly altered the proportions of some of the original individual elements to suit my requirements. Hell, in particular, has been enlarged to reflect the reality of the modern world. If you have the stamina, you can work your way through Paradise Lost here: https://archive.org/details/miltonsparadiselmilton/page/86/mode/2up You can read Philip Pullman's accessible introduction to the work for the British Library here: https://www.bl.uk/restoration-18th-century-literature/articles/philip-pullmans-introduction-to-paradise-lost You can watch and listen to Brian Cox talking about space vacuums in the BBC's Human Universe here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E43-CfukEgs
