Akiya Kageichi is a Japanese illustrator who calls himself Golden Gravel, a name which may refer to Japanese rock gardens. His sinister jesters, lazy rulers and clandestine warriors are set within scenes full of chaotic imagery. Astrological symbols, particularly moons, are heavily prominent, suggesting the mysterious forces of dark nights are at work. In a single plane, objects morph, creating dynamic and active scenes. Kageichi reveals hidden underworlds and secret futures, in which sorcery and witchcraft pull the strings and determine what happens in the real world.
We had a wonderful time at girls camp at Mia Shalom. Our Stake Girls camp theme was S.T.A.R.S (Shining Together As Righteous Sisters). Each ward had a value color. We were GOLD, so fun and so pretty. For our "Mailboxes" this year my Laurel Adviser made the cutest little buckets. She found the pails at IKEA for $0.77. Her husband then drilled holes in the sides to for the rope handle. They turned out super cute! The mailboxes are where they then can put their secret sister treats, letters, etc.. We had a each of the girls chose a favorite "star" quote to share up at camp. Each day we had a few of them tell us why they chose that quote. They then could glue the star quote in their camp journals. I made the girls these cute little Star hairclips and attached them to my star quote. (I just used vinyl paper they have at hobby lobby and glued felt on the back) Each day we have one of the leaders give a short little devotional. I talked about how we are daughters of a king. I made these cute little star "crowns" to give to them after. I found the star ribbon at Etsy HERE I actually ended up using a bigger star than pictured below but I forgot to take a picture of the bigger one. I challenged my YW to read the Book of Mormon before girls camp this year. They had a few months to do it. I found these adorable necklace on Etsy HERE for the girls that finished. This year we gave each of the girls a lanyard that had our schedule for the week. On the back was a place they could mark off their certification requirements. Each night we had a leader leave a little pillow treat on the girls beds. I'm sad I forgot to take a picture of all of them. these cute little bags were so tiny and cute. They were filled starburst and had the cutest little poem attached. Cute little girls camp "prescription" It was filled with skittles. we had a couple of crafts the girls could do each day. Another thing I am sad I forgot to take pictures of some. The girls loved these cute bandanna bags. They were perfect to hold their journals, scriptures, pens, etc... This is what our camp journals looked like this year. They turned out great! We had the girls make Marshmallow guns. Then we brought different duck & washi tape and let the girls decorate them. We then had some fun little shooting competitions. I saved the decorations we used at our Camp Kick-Off party. see HERE We used them to decorate the pavilion. It was a rainy week but when the rain cleared it was gorgeous!!
Everybody stands in a circle. Person in the middle throws up the ball and yells a name of someone standing in the circle (we will call him Bob). Bob runs in and tries to catch the ball before it touches the ground. If Bob doesn’t catch the ball everybody else will run away until Bob gets the ball and yells “freeze!” Then Bob will (frozen himself) try to throw the ball and tag someone. If Bob hits someone, then that person is out. If not then the Bob is out. The game continues with either Bob standing in the middle of the circle – or the person he tried to tag with the ball, but missed.
I have been doing YW stuff all afternoon, and I am loving it. There is so much good stuff created by so many creative people out there, I can't even begin to compare myself to that kind of creativity and ability! I've been taking and using so many ideas from other generous leaders out there, I thought I'd share a little of what I did put together. You know, give back to the universe mentality. Maybe some stranger somewhere might find it useful or interesting or time saving on their part. Thus, I share with y'all. First off, we have just called a brand new class presidency and this give me the new found determination to be more organized than I was the last presidency. I tend to get lazy and "don't fix what isn't broken" mentality when in actuality, there are improvements that can be made everywhere. First stop was my class presidency meetings. It's been far too long since we've had a productive meeting. I have been trying to get the girls more involved in the leadership part of the meetings, and have been failing miserably at directing them how this is done. I looked everywhere I knew on the internet for cute agendas already made by the crafty ladies out there - but couldn't find what I liked. So - I made one myself. It fits my needs and will give the girls direction for our short, productive future meetings. :) YW Agenda here Secondly, the girls in my Mia Maid class are struggling with activity ideas. We have a very small group, and seem to be repeating the same activities every week! So - I did some research and compiled a list of 100+ things to do for Mutual night. I realize this list is all in my jargon, but most of them are easy to understand and adaptable for any geographic location or class size. By putting it onto one sheet of paper, I can now give the girls a copy and we can go down the list; filling in the weeks that need Class Activities planned. This should help us meet the "3 month's ahead" request from the Bishop. YW Activity Idea list PDF here It isn't much, and it isn't as creative and cute as some of those other things, but I am excited for what help it could bring for me. If you find it helpful, let me know in a comment and I'll be more apt to post other things that I am doing for my class.

Many occasions call for some entertainment – nothing fancy, just something to break the flow and get everyone revived and attentive. Skits work perfectly in this situation, as well as many others. A skit is very short play, usually performed in an informal setting. A skit requires very few props and little preparation. Skits are […]

Here's 100+ Relief Society Activity Ideas to help you as you're planning your next shin dig with your ward or branch.
Tonight the Beehives were in charge of the "All Girls Night". What a fun night! It was a Secret Service Mission. * BEFORE THE ACTIVITY The Sunday before the activity, one of the Beehives stood up during opening exercises to make an announcement about the activity. She was sportin' a black hat and dark sunglasses. As she explained the upcoming activity she remained in total under cover spy character. So cute! * ON THE NIGHT OF THE ACTIVITY We were divided into three teams. Each team was given a cipher wheel (which they Beehives made themselves). Next, each team was then given a manilla evelope with the words TOP SECRET stamped on the front. Each envelope held a clue, which led us to our first location and told us what service we were to give. When the service was completed, we were given our next clue. Each team went to three different locations. These were a few of the service activities they set up for the night: squeezing lemons, dusting blinds, pulling weeds, vaccuming, * MAKE YOUR OWN CIPHER WHEEL 1.Print the two wheels you find below on card stock. 2.Cut out both wheels. Make sure you don't cut off the black triangle on the smaller one. 3.With a sharp point, make a small hole in the middle of both wheels. 4.Join the two wheels together (small one on top of the big one) with a split pin or cotter pin.
Have you ever bought something that, made you feel a little bit guilty to throw out when you were finished with it? Perhaps you're just the kind of

This candy campfire activity is the perfect way to teach how to build a campfire or just a fun activity for a camp themed party!
For this lesson I decided to try something different. It is like 6 or 7 printed pages long. And I thought having a visual aid might help them enjoy and remember it better. So I remembered those Flannel boards that I've seen around with felt characters. And I knew it would be easy, cheap, and fun for them. (If I had access to all my crafting supplies. I may have done things differently.) I think a magnet board would be even better because you could use all these people at church on the chalkboards for primary lessons. I think I will eventually laminate (my laminator is in storage) and put magnets on the back and turn the flannel board into a magnet board. But for the time being, this is fast and working really great! To make a flannel board you need a few supplies: 1) a board or painting canvas (use a 40% off coupon at Joanns or Michaels) 2) 1 yard or less of your choice of color flannel. (I have heard blue or black is best) I did white. I wish I would have listened : ) 3) Felt sticky sheets (found in the craft kid section) 4) A colored printer 5) a staple gun or if you don't have access to one or yours is in storage ; ) You could use packing tape for a temporary fix. Please borrow a staple gun. Using tape totally cracked me up! You just want to pull it as tight as you can so the flannel is snug on your board. Then I printed out the pictures from the digital copy HERE on to cardstock. Then I cut up all the pictures and numbered them. There were a lot so it would be easy to mix them up. Then I cut up rectangles of the sticky felt and stuck them on. It would be better to have just stuck all the cut out pictures on to the sticky side of felt so that they were completely covered in felt. But I was in a hurry and didn't want to use pages and pages of felt on one story. Here you see I numbered them and stuck on the sticky felt. Here I am telling the story and setting the felt pictures onto the flannel board. I would let the kids help put them on as we went along. They really enjoyed it! NOTE: If you want actual Book of Mormon Characters you can get FREE ones... Yes I said FREE here on this amazing blog! She doesn't have the lessons for each book of mormon story. They are from Friend Magazine stories. But a lot of them go with the stories. And Guess what she has Old Testament and New Testament ones too!! I found one for the Brass plates and did it along side all the printed cards you see above on the board. I think an adorable craft or treat would be those cute BRASS PLATES candy I found on my Pinterest. I am so bummed the link was broken and doesn't lead to anyone. So if anyone know who deserves credit or has a tutorial let me know. Here's a picture for inspiration though:
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish …

The count down is on. The calendar turns to August this week and the panic settles in. Teachers all across the country to prepare for those first fast-pace, high-energy days of school. Today I want to share with you my top 5 picks for back to school games! One of the first things I did with my students in that first week of school was to familiarize them the ins and outs of the classroom. Where are the art supplies? What parts of the room are off-limits? I'm pretty sure my first year of teaching I walked around the classroom and yammered off about every drawer, closet, and shelf as my students sat at their desk and listened. Boring. I didn't know any better. The next year I decided to make it more fun with a classroom scavenger hunt! I let the students explore the classroom in teams reading clues about where things were kept in the room. Wanna give it a shot this year? Check out my First Day of School Survival Kit that includes this fun way to introduce your students to the sections of your classroom. Editable version available to make cards custom for your classroom! Here's another small group activity: "Get-to-Know-You Jenga" Rachel Lynette has this freebie printable available at her TpT for you to create your own Jenga game. All you need to do is print out the strips and tape to Jenga blocks. Students pull out a block and answer the question for their group members. This game would work great as a center during that first week of school. I wrote about this fun get-up-and-move game in a guest post over on One Stop Teacher Shop (where you can snag a free template for this game as well!). I'm sure you've played "Four Corners" before as an easy indoor recess game, but I bet you haven't thought to use it as a "getting to know you" game. To make it an ice breaker game, you can simply type in questions like: "What is your favorite ice cream flavor?" and on the multiple choice slide type in the different flavor choices. Students have 20 seconds to race to the corner that matches their answer. You can snag this freebie template (and check out my whole guest post on active review games) on One Stop Teacher Shop. At the start of the school year, you never know how well the kids know each other from previous years. You might have students that have been together since kindergarten or you might have a student that is brand new to the school. This game (well, I should say it's the game before the game) will help your students find a partner quickly, even if they don't know a single person in your class. Use these cards all year long anytime you want your students to find a partner fast! This partner game also is part of my First Day Survival Kit, found HERE. And finally, a game that requires the least amount of prep! Simply come up with some this/that type questions for a fun game of "Switch Sides If..." Have students stand on one side of the room. Make statements such as "Switch sides if you prefer basketball over soccer." If a student agrees with the statement, he/she switches sides. It's that simple! {Source} Head over to this blog post for a ready-made list of "Switch Sides If..." statements that you can use! Even easier! Have a great day! MORE BACK TO SCHOOL RESOURCES FOR YOU:
