I’m a photographer from Romania that quit her job and started a new life. Two years ago I took my backpack, my camera and begun to travel around the globe, photographing hundreds of natural women surrounded by their culture.

I haven't done one of these for a while and I think it's about time we got the series going again. Not much to it, just me having a bit of fun curating the sassiest old school pictures I can find on net or from my inbox of pictures you've kindly sent in of your sassy ancestors. Oh and please keep se

The Bathing Hut by Charles James Lewis, British, 1830-1892 Read more about the bathing huts, pictured in the above painting, here. Photos taken in 1906 showing women at the beach. It must have been quite a windy day but they look thrilled to be there. As I do like to sew, I was interested in the design of the back of their jackets, in the photo, above, and would certainly like to know the colors they were wearing. Because of the lack of color photography, it is easy to believe that Victorian women either wore black, or white, but that is not the case. The clothing I've seen in museums is varied and vivid in color. At a glance, it appears that the styles of this era were all alike, but closer observation will reveal that there was rarely any two ladies dressed exactly alike. I spite of the hundreds of Victorian houses built prior to 1906, it would be hard to find two exactly alike. It seems that these ladies went to the beach for more than the summer sun. Many of them carried with them books, sketching paper, watercolors and writing tablets.
In an age dominated by screens, the joy of reading is fading among the youngest generation. My name is Iwona Podlasinska and I'm a photographer based in Poland. I've traveled the globe, capturing moments of enchantment as children delve into the pages of books. These snapshots not only reflect universal experiences but also remind me of the childhood stories that shaped my own imagination.

I am not known for wildlife photography but when those two adolescent Ibex´s climbed a large boulder in-front of my while hiking down from Lac Blanc in the French Alps I could not resist photographing them. Indeed it was the most exciting time I have had photographing for a long while. They were only 5-10m away from me and seeing them practicing their fighting skills for about half an hour on the rocks was quite the show.
If we take a look at the state of photography today, such as the advances of digital camera, artful image manipulation by photoshop, and even the role of paparazzi in media - and the pervasiveness of photographic images in our lives, it is easy to forget that the first photograph ever was taken just 180 years ago.Photography was probably an inevitable invention - the surprise was that it took so long for it to develop, especially given that the scientific principles that are responsible for it - physical...
