I have got to know Anna Graham of Noodlehead through Ringo Pie and she is the nicest person and the most generous blogger. She doesn't know about this post so when she reads it, I'm guessing she will blush, but I love her patterns and I love her blogging. She gives a lot of herself and I admire that. The majority of her patterns are available free on her website and she is always adding more. This is my version of her 241 Tote Bag, available to buy by PDF My day bag which I take to work full of keys, money, tissues, granola bars, bananas and a water bottle is wearing thin so I spent a few evenings this week making this one. The storage possibilities appealed to me. I made the outer zipper pocket horizontal for my phone and added some batting to protect it. Inside, I put in a key fob clip, I live in fear of losing my house keys or the ones to my work place so I always add a key fob to any bag I make. Recognise the lining? From my lucky win on Kat's blog , I have linked in to her great news that she has a pattern in a new Zakka Style book full of designers and cute looking makes. Congrats Kat! I just know that flash of pink and the little deer will make me smile as I reach for my phone. I recycle fixings when I make bags- the strap, key fob clasp and the zipper were from some cheapo charity shop finds. I have no idea where to find zips with bigger tabs, I can only source dress style zips- if you know of a good supply, please let me know! The strap allows it to be shoulder or messenger style across the body. It is all sprayed with protector- seems to work well, I've tried it before, and ready to go. Thankyou Anna, the pattern worked a like a dream x Here's a mini tute on how to do a key fob dangly thing- it is very easy!

I have been crocheting tons of pouches lately and I love lining them with a coordinating fabric and finishing them with a zipper. I'm not an expert at sewing by any means, but this method works for me. I use it every time and I am always happy with the results. I hope you enjoy this tutorial! In the pictures shown in this tutorial, I am lining the Lee Change Purse. But, this method will work for any pouch...just adjust the fabric and zipper sizes. Materials needed- for the fabric lining & zipper (if desired): • 5" zipper • Fabric- 2 pieces that are roughly 5" high by 6"wide •Needle & thread •Sewing machine (optional) •a few ball head straight pins Finished size: • Lee Change Purse- 4" high by 5" wide Making the Lining: 1. Cut out 2 pieces of fabric that are about 1/2-inch larger around than your pouch. 2. Lay one piece of the fabric, right side up, on your worktop. Place the zipper, right side up, on top of the fabric, centered. 3. Sew along the top edge of the zipper. Use a zipper foot if you can, it's so much easier than using a regular foot like I did. 4. Flip the fabric over and fold the zipper back, so that it is laying flat on the wrong side of the fabric. 5. Now sew along this side. You can sew along the same line you just made. The right side of the fabric will look like this now. 6. Lay your other piece of fabric right side up. Then, place the zippered piece on it so that the right side of the zipper is facing up and is lined up along the top edge of the right side-facing fabric piece. 7. Sew along the top edge of the zipper. 8. Again, flip open the fabric and sew along the zipper again. After you sew, the inside of the fabric will look like this. 9. Fold the fabric closed so that the zipper lays flat and secure it closed we a few pins along the zipper line. 10. Lay your pouch on top of the fabric. Line the top of the pouch up with the zipper. 11. Trace a line around the pouch using a pen or pencil. 12. Pin the fabric together. 13. Sew just inside (maybe about 1/8" inside) the line you just traced on the fabric. It does not have to be perfect so don't stress out about it. 14. Trim away the extra fabric. 15. Remove your pins and see how the lining fits inside of your pouch. If it seems too bulky/big, sew another line inside the one you sewed before and then trim away extra fabric again. If it fits just right, then proceed on to attach it to your pouch. 16. Use a few pins to hold the lining to the pouch while you sew it in. Use a needle and thread for this part. You are going to hide your stitches in between the crochet and the fabric (where the wrong sides touch). Work right along the zipper line. In the inside of the pouch, you will see the inside of your stitches along the zipper line. On the outside of the pouch you will not see any stitches. Go from the inside zipper line, out to under the row of slip stitches on the pouch. When coming back the other way, go under the row of slip stitches, making sure the thread will be hidden when you pull tight, to the zipper line. Continue this around. Make sure you pull each stitch tightly so that the lining is completely secured to the outer pouch. When you have gone all the way around, secure the thread with a few small knots that are hidden under the crochet portion. Cut the thread. Remove the pins. And enjoy! You did it :) Here is what it looks all finished :) Skein and Hook Copyright © 2014 The pattern and photographs contained in this document are the property of Skein and Hook. I am so amazed at the interest with this basket I used 9 colors and tried to achieve an ombre effect. The size is about three times larger than the chunky basket. I'm putting this one beside my chair for WIPs. A Free Sewing Project by the Stitching Scientist ✂ A graceful oval-shaped messenger bag with an angled front pocket, can be sewn together using this free pattern from the Stitching Scientist. An ideal sewing project to make use of coordinated fabrics. The front pocket is large enough to hold all your belongings. This bag pattern doesn’t offer any sort of bag closure, but the pattern can be adjusted for a closure of preference. I would use a simple magnetic snap. (No fuss!) The dimensions ar

I've wanted for a while to do some ombré pattern. I love the gradient effect and I think that the tapestry technique is ideal for it. I had a lot of different shades of blue, cause let's face it, it's my favourite color, so I decided it was just perfect for the design. I didn't wanted to do a basic stripe gradient even if I love them, specially in blankets. As usual, I needed to spice it up and create somethig a bit more intricate (as if tapestry crochet isn't challenging enough) and came up with spikes that makes me think of mountains in the horizon. Always loyal to Katia's Mississippi 3 yarn with 3 shades of blue plus off white and a simple white zipper for the closure with no lining. This pouch is approximately H - 15 cm/5,9 inches; W - 21 cm/8,2 inches. You can use it as you want. As a clutch, as a cosmetic bag that you can use at home or to carry with you in your daily purse. If you love to craft and crochet, this pouch can carry a lot of hooks, needles and other crafting materials! I think that this one would look so beautiful with any color but I really want to make another one (sometime in the future) with a black/gray/white gradient! If you'd like to give this pattern a try, it's available at my Etsy Shop. The PDF has a total of 10 pages, including the cover, where you'll find a beginner friendly english tutorial with instructions and pictures that will walk you through the making of the pouch. Nonetheless, you NEED to know the basics of crocheting. If you are a more experienced crocheter you'll be able to go directly to the written pattern and tapestry chart.
