The irresistible new standalone from Sophie Kinsella is a story of love, empowerment and an IOU that changes everything . . . Fixie Farr can't help herself. Straightening a crooked object, removing a barely-there stain, helping out a friend . . . she just has to put things right. It's how she got her nickname, after all. So when a handsome stranger in a coffee shop asks her to watch his laptop for a moment, Fixie not only agrees, she ends up saving it from certain disaster. To thank her, the computer's owner, Sebastian, scribbles her an IOU - but of course, Fixie never intends to call in the favour. That is, until her teenage crush, Ryan, comes back into her life and needs her help. Fixie turns to Seb - but things don't go according to plan and now Fixie owes Seb: big time. Soon the pair are caught up in a series of IOUs - from small favours to life-changing debts - and Fixie is torn between her past and the future she deserves. Does she have the courage to fix things for herself and fight for the life, and love, she really wants? ***** EVERYBODY LOVES SOPHIE KINSELLA: ***** 'Left me giddy with laughter. Finally, as I spent more time thinking about this subject, I also saw some positives. My testimony, the story of how God worked in my life
I’m back! I know I sort of disappeared from my blog and some may know why and some may not. So I owe those of you who read my reviews an explanation. One of the main reason I stopped posting book reviews/blogs is because of school. Last year I chose to go back to school to get my high school diploma. I passed all my tests pretty easily, especially the RLA, aka Reasoning Through Language Arts, go figure that was my highest score out of all the tests! Unfortunately, Math was my weak point and since I saved for last. After passing all the other tests I focused all my energy and time to working towards passing my Math test. I had until May to complete it or I wouldn’t end up graduating this year, which being a 2018 graduate was my goal from the beginning. So from January - April I worked my butt off studying until 11 pm sometimes to improve my Math skills, which in doing so didn’t leave me much time or energy to do personal reading or anything else. I honestly wasn’t sure I was going to be able to pass it, but.... The good news is I ended up passing my Math test and was able to graduate in May! Going back and completing something that I gave up 5 years ago gave me the confidence and drive to look forward to a better future. I’ve learned these past months that without personal time, especially reading, I felt lost and not myself. So I’m back and ready to pick up where I left off and hopefully I can juggle my hectic life and my hobbies better in the future. So what is next for Thriftbookish? Well even though I have been MIA from my blog I haven’t stopped buying books! And with the summer here and me finally having free time I am ready to devote time for me to relax and get some reading in. I finally have a laptop again so I can finally redesign my blog layout which I have some exciting ideas for! I think you for all of you who have continued reading my reviews and following me on my other social medias. I set my book goal at 52 books this year (1 book a week) and even though it seems unlikely I am going to try and catch up and if I make it great if I don't I'm not too worried I will just enjoy the books. Happy reading~ Google+ Goodreads Facebook Instagram Twitter Tumblr YouTube Libib Pinterest Bloglovin

Description Book Synopsis NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER - "A gem of a novel."--Jodi Picoult, #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Spark of Light and Small Great Things From the author of Surprise Me comes an irresistible story of love and empowerment about a young woman with a complicated family, a handsome man who might be "the one," and an IOU that changes everything. Fixie Farr has always lived by her father's motto: "Family first." And since her dad passed away, leaving his charming housewares store in the hands of his wife and children, Fixie spends all her time picking up the slack from her siblings instead of striking out on her own. The way Fixie sees it, if she doesn't take care of her father's legacy, who will? It's simply not in Fixie's nature to say no to people. So when a handsome stranger in a coffee shop asks her to watch his laptop for a moment, she not only agrees--she ends up saving it from certain disaster. To thank Fixie for her quick thinking, the computer's owner, Sebastian, an investment manager, scribbles an IOU on a coffee sleeve and attaches his business card. Fixie laughs it off--she'd never actually claim an IOU from a stranger. Would she? But then Fixie's childhood crush, Ryan, comes back into her life, and his lack of a profession pushes all of Fixie's buttons. As always, she wants nothing for herself--but she'd love Seb to give Ryan a job. No sooner has Seb agreed than the tables are turned once more and a new series of IOUs between Seb and Fixie--from small favors to life-changing moments--ensues. Soon Fixie, Ms. Fixit for everyone else, is torn between her family and the life she really wants. Does she have the courage to take a stand? Will she finally grab the life, and love, she really wants?
