Today I finished my first homemade fabric bunting and I've learned a few things along the way. So here are a few tips and observations that might be helpful to you: 1- Iron you fabric first. It will be easier to cut. 2- Use a template to cut the triangles. It is a lot quicker than measuring. 3- Once you have sewn the flags on the reverse of the fabric, turn the flags over and use a chopstick to push the fabric of the tip. 4- When doing so, be careful not to push to hard or you will rip the fabric (and yes it did happen to me !) 5- Iron you Bias tape to make a crisp fold. It will be so much easier to work with a tape already folded. 6- There is no need to sew the top of the flag, it will be sewn together with the bias tape. 7- Leave some tape free at both ends for tying your bunting. 8- Spacing the flags evenly looks a lot better. 9- To space the flags, make a little "spacer" by cutting a piece of paper or cardboard with the same width as the gap you want. It is a quick and easy way to get an even look without having to measure constantly. 10- Snip these little corners so the top of the flag is a straight line And my best advice to you: If you have friends or family around, ask for advice. It is so much easier when somebody shows you. Thank you Karri for helping me out ! Oh and by the way, when you're done, it is very likely that you (or the floor around you) will be covered in thread and fabric scraps ! Linky Parties
