For me this looks like something from a fairy tale. Prague is really a very beautiful city, and a great place for any photographer :). Looking at this photo, I think, that I have to get there again in the winter. I must look so magical covered with snow :). Seven months after Queen Elizabeth II surpassed Queen Victoria to become Britain's longest reigning monarch, she celebrated her 90th birthday and in doing so became the country's first nonagenarian sovereign.
We walked up to the top of Linlithgow Palace at the north east corner called the "Queen's Turnpike" for some great views in every direction. Linlithgow Palace was a favorite of the royals of Scotland because of its beautiful setting next to a lake. The palace you see today is much as it was left by Cumberland's troops in 1746. The ground floor and first floor of the building are largely accessible, together with some basement areas. And in the corner towers it is possible to access some of the upper parts of the palace. But for the most part the floors and roofs have all gone above first floor level. What you are left with are a series of remarkably tall hollow shells surrounding the central courtyard. St. Michael's Parish Church is nearly always visible from the palace. In 1820 it became clear that the magnificent stone crown that had topped off the tower for 400 years was in danger of collapse, and the following year it was removed. In 1894 work began to restore the church to its condition prior to the 1808 work. The church was rededicated on 24 October 1896. But the most striking change was the addition in 1964 of a crown to replace the one removed in 1821. This needed to be light to avoid overloading the tower, and the 58ft high crown you see today is made of aluminium anodised to a gold finish.
