Hi, there! It's Vera here today with a Halloween card featuring the Deliver Fall Fun and Be Scary Stamp set. First, I prepare my panel card. I die-cut the Grid Planter - Creative Cuts on black card stock and adhered to pink polka dot paper as the background. Next, I white heat embossed the sentiment from Be Scary on black card stock and cut it out with the coordinating die. I stamped all images from Deliver Fall Fun on Copic-friendly paper with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink. Colored with Copic markers and cut them out with the coordinating die. I also added some fun ghosts and a jar of candies I created using Tulip Grid Cover - Creative Cuts (ghost & jar) and Big Boo stamp set (the candies). To complete my card I stamped the tiny spider from Little Mummy Agenda set. Thank you for joining me, I hope you enjoy today's inspiration! This is a very colorful quilted wall hanging of elephants, all made from Kaffe Fassett fabrics. If you know Kaffe, you know how colorful and vibrant these fabric elephants are. There are 20 different elephants. This quilt bursts with joy. It just makes one feel happy-- if you love elephants. The borders are fuchsia colored and are custom quilted. I found this pattern in Carpinteria CA during some travels and couldn't wait to make it! It is not made from a kit. I choose all fabrics individually. In these elephants I chose to have all of the ears and tails in matching polkadots--again Kaffe Fassett. The back is a gray swirled fabric. Top and back are 100% cotton. The batting is a cotton/poly blend. It is not a thick quilt. This quilt is made to be a wall hanging only. It is a large wall hanging 51 X 56 inches. Free shipping in the continental US

So, after successfully making my wonderful Hooter Hat, I decided to make an elephant that I had found on the Lion brand website. Here's the stock photo from the site: Source I followed the pattern exactly (which can be found here - but you need to register with the website before it will let you see the pattern), but mine turned out a little different. The most obnoxious part for me was actually stitching up the tube since the project is knit flat then stitched up and stuffed. Here's what it looked like before making it into an actual elephant: Personal Photo Totally awkward, right? Now, assembling the whole thing was a little more difficult than I would have liked. The pattern said gauge didn't matter, but I think it was lying. Because it just felt like my tube was too thick to follow the instructions properly. Either way, I'm actually really happy with how it turned out, it was just kinda of a pain in the ass getting there. Here he is: Personal Photos From the top it kinda looks like a penis, hehehe - I'm such a child... Personal Photos I haven't added eyes yet, and I'm not sure I will. The pattern says to sew on plastic eyes, and I'm just not comfortable having little, hand sewn, plastic pieces just asking to be ripped off and choked on by my son. I've considered embroidering eyes on, but I kinda like it without eyes - balloon animals don't have eyes, after all. Up next on the knitting front is a matching hat and bootie set for the little guy. I haven't decided on which pattern to use for the booties and I'm using the same pattern I used for the base of the Hooter Hat only with a different brim. I also have the best yarn for this project. It's the prettiest gradient blue and it's super soft (it's 65% wool, 20% nylon, and 15% silk): Personal Photos And after that I think I'll be making some more balloon animals; they have 5 free balloon animal patterns on the Lion Brand website and they're all freaking adorable! Until next time...
Using Bloom's Taxonomy, this activity will help your students explore their creative side when it comes to measurement. All you need are some rulers to allow your students to create anything with this exercise. Simply instruct your students to measure out the exact length that is listed on the sheet. Then, have them to think about what object/drawing they can create from that specific length. I have found that it is easiest to introduce this activity during carpet time in order to provide students with an example of what you expect. I have also used this in a small group setting where I can guide their interaction. Either way, this activity will spark imagination in your students and reach those higher-level learners in your classroom.

This listing is for an extensive PDF file which contains full instructions for knitting and finishing off a little boy elephant with a textured sweater and shorts. The file is 14 pages long and contains over 50 detailed step-by-step photographs along with full pattern instructions and tips for stuffing, seaming and finishing neatly. The pattern is for knitting flat on two needles and all pieces are seamed afterwards. Please note that this project is not a quick or simple knit. It takes me around 14 hours to make and finish each of the animals that I make and just under half of that time is spent on the finishing off. There are lots of separate pieces which require seaming and sewing. That said this PDF file will give you all of the information and techniques that you need to knit the little elephant pictured. The sample was knit in Twilleys Freedom Sincere Organic Cotton, Rowan Wool Cotton 4 Ply and BC Garn Allino yarn. Some suggested substitute yarns are shown below.
Elmer has taken over our school! K-1st grade (they are grouped together in my school) created their very own Elmer's. There were a lot of steps to this project but in the end I enjoy how they turned out. Each is unique in its own way. On day on and day two, after reading "Elmer" by David McKee we learned the basic geometric shapes needed to draw an elephant. We then worked step-by-step together drawing and coloring them in. Some K's took a while to catch on to drawing the shapes, which is to be expected, but I didn't want to hold back on my first project, especially since I still want to keep my 1st graders engaged. We then talked about how colors mix together to make other colors. As they layered tissue papers with glue water they explored the possibilites of color mixing. The real test was drawing out elephants on the back sides of our beautiful paper and cutting them out. I was crossing my fingers and we had no causalities:) All trunks, legs, and tails were safe (with the help of tape in some cases). On the last day we talked about texture and created a ripped paper dirt floor on a blue sheet of paper. They were free to create a home for their elephants drawing trees, sun, watering holes, and animal friends with crayon. In the end I'm happy we did not use a tracer, which was a consideration of mine. I actually sut out a bunch of tracers just in case everything went to crazy town. I love how each is unique in its own special way, just like Elmer!
When I responded objectively to her paranoia, she told me I was attacking her. When I tried to tell her that I would prefer if she didn’t lash out at me, she told me I was abusive. I couldn’t win. And there it was—the key. The answer.

I tried to figure out a new, different way to hang my students work this year. I used clothespins last year, but when the hallway got repainted over the summer- then my clothespins came down. I didn't want to fool with putting them up. So, I decided to just make something that would be easy to put up and take down. So, I got some yardsticks from Amazon....some purple clothespins from Oriental Trading...and some gorilla glue from Wal-Mart! I love these! I just attached them to the wall with some mounting tape which is also easy to remove.
