So on Ravelry the Knooking group is having a knook along. We are knooking the "Falling Water" scarf by Bonnie Sennott. I really don't have the time or need to make a scarf so I am just doing a washcloth with the repeat. So far turning out pretty good. This pattern uses knit, purl, left and right decreases, and yarn over increases. And just so you know all the participants are doing a great job with their projects.

Ships in 1 to 3 weeks All sweaters are hand-knitted by our team of local women workers. All of our workers are paid a fair living wage, not just minimum wage, with benefits. It’s really important to us that we employ women to help us handcraft our pieces rather than have them made with machines. We strive to give more work to women in Kosovo, because a lot of them aren’t able to find jobs where they can utilize their skills here. We offer flexible benefits such as being allowed to work from home with no deadlines. These women have become such an integral part of the brand! Each piece takes 3 days to knit and is therefore unique and may vary slightly. Hand wash in cold water, lay flat to dry 20% wool, 80% acrylic © 2019 LIRIKA MATOSHI INC. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
Someone linked to this on pinterest, and lots of folks are coming over (hi, welcome!). The is out now, it's called Ephemeris, and you can get it on ravelry. If you want an email when other patterns are released, you can make that happen right here. All that ribbing...that ribbing
After knitting Annis I was really quite pleased with the crescent shape, and thought it’d be nice to take that and add a border rather than doing a straight scarf or a triangular shawl. So, I cast on 241 stitches and just did a short-row crescent shape, then followed the second last and last charts from echo flowers, i think it’s 20 repeats, and I am absolutely delighted. I can’t believe that pattern is available for free! I did 5 stitch nupps, and they came out nice and meaty :) The 3-into-9 stitches were quite tricky with the worsted and i had to resort to a crochet hook to pull the last couple through!

Increasing There are a few ways to increase. 1st Yarn over (YO) (Mostly used for lace.) Put your yarn over the hook returning yarn to back, knit in next stitch. Leaves a big hole 2nd M1 - Pull up a loop in the horizontal strand in between stitches. To do this take the horizontal strand with you hook to the back of strand, twist it, YO and draw yarn through twisted loop. Depending which way you twist your loop will determine a left or right increase
Purling Have your working yarn to the front. To purl insert your hook from the left of the stitch to right, Yarn Under your hook and push the yarn through the loop, Same as knit when you have two rows of life line in your stitches pull the first row of the life line out. Helps things move along faster if you use you thumb to help open up the stitches. Use your thumb to open stitch Yarn Under and push working yarn through

These mittens knitting pattern are inspired by the book series Anne of Green Gables, by L.M. Montgomery. I’d like to think that these are the mittens knitting pattern that Anne begs and begs and begs Marilla for… Which Marilla grudgingly acquiesces to. Who needs bobbles, cables, and lacework in a mitten?Nevertheless, Marilla won’t be outdone by the other knitters in town, and she applies herself to the design of these mittens rather industriously. Being a practical soul at heart, Marilla could never just knit mittens. She’s worked out fingerless, convertible, and full length versions to get Anne through every season and occasion.Even though they are quite a bit more decorated than Marilla is used to, I imagine that they would become a secret source of pride for her. Throughout the novels, Marilla always shows that little secret joy… The satisfaction of knowing you are very good at a particular handiwork skill… and the little pretty touches to things that Anne has encouraged and pushed Marilla to explore… Bringing joy and artistry to everyday garments. This convertible, fingerless, and plain mittens knitting pattern will bring you that same satisfaction and joy in the making… as well as keep you warm, whatever version you need for your particular life.Part of the Anne of Green Gables collection.

Well, the weeks are just flying by and the August Bank Holiday is upon us, so here I am, sunning myself in the garden and looking back on my crafty antics over the past month. By far the largest project was the ‘Stardust Melodies’ cal that was hosted by Polly Plum on her blog Every Trick On The Hook. The cal has officially finished now, but I run out of wool on the border of mine …....really frustrating…………but I ordered more and it’s arrived, so with just five rows to go it shouldn’t be too long before it’s finished. Believe it or not, I actually turned designer on this too, because I needed an extra square and didn’t want to duplicate any of the others. I use the word ‘designer’ loosely because it’s a very simple square but I think it fits with the rest….or at least I hope it does! So, now for Polly’s squares that you haven’t seen yet:- Squares 13 & 14 - “I Got Rhythm & Don’t Get Round Much Anymore Squares 15 & 16 – La Mer & Satin Doll Squares 17 & 18 - On The Street Where You Live & Ain’t Misbehavin Squares 19 & 20 - As Time Goes By & It Had To Be You Squares 21 & 22 - Someone to Watch Over Me & Summertime Squares 23 & 24 - Dream A Little Dream & One For My Baby And finally two squares designed by me, which I am calling “This Could Be The Start Of Something Big” and "Funny" in keeping with the Stardust Melodies theme. I added an extra row of contrast to my squares before joining them with a flat braid and I used the paid pattern for the border. Photos of the finished throw to follow in due course! Happy Crafting, Whatever your passion may be! Sue x
the purl code is worked seamlessly in rounds from the top down. First some short rows are worked back and forth to shape the neck. Raglan increases are then worked to final yoke depth (yoke is designed to be rather deep in relation to what you may be used to), where sleeve stitches are placed on hold. From this point the oversized body is worked in rounds to the hem. Sleeve stitches are picked up again to work the sleeves in rounds top down to the cuffs. Optional neck finishing is worked last. Purl stitch lines are added every now and then throughout (add purl stitches where you like/when you like/as many as you like) …you may like the idea of using the morse code alphabet (see ‘purl code alphabet’ on the last page) for making this a statement sweater ;) . _ . . _ _ _ … _ . _ . _ _ _ _ _ . . _ Original yarn: Great Ocean Rd Mill The Purlcode Sweater. So I made my own knook hook that has a pointy end like a knitting needle. And found that it made purling much easier to do and over all knooking quicker. Pictured below. But I found it to be alot of work to have to wittle the wood. So I had a bamboo set that I ordered from ebay and did the unthinkable.....but it worked. I put my hook into a pencil sharpener and sharpened away and got a beautiful point to my hook. I just sanded it down a little to get rid of any roughness and you have to be careful not to over sharpen the hook off. Bamboo set from ebay My handy pencil sharpener My hook after sharpening.
This information has been updated, and can be found on my web page (in a multi part DKnitting tutorial). A direct link to DK tutorial A direct link potholder patterns--scroll to gingham pattern The tutorial has several suggested cast on methods, too in part 3 This pattern was (is) on my blog, and was posted here as a pattern in May of 2007. I have an improved pattern on my web page, but it is still a very terse set of instructions rather than a full pattern, and it is part of my Double Knitting tutorial. (part 4) The chart was made by PMKnitter, not by me, but i have added it, (and thank her for her work) if it is helpful to you, thank her. Gauge is not critical, since all sizes of potholders work, and i suggest shrinking the potholder as part of finishing it.. (It is hard to knit cotton tightly, I don’t suggest you try--knit it a some what loose gauge, and shrink to firm up fabric!) Potholder can be made in cotton and also be made in wool, either knit firmly (a bit easier to do with wool) or fulled (felted) as part of the finishing.

This is a very quick knit. I designed and knit it in one sitting…a rather long sitting, but still, one sitting. The chart is a not symetrical, so the fair isle bits may be slightly confusing, but it looks great when it’s done.
