Clasped weft weaving is a fun technique that creates staggered picks or solid blocks of color that don’t travel selvedge to selvedge across a warp. It gives the weaver an opportunity to add more visual dimension and a certain “how did they do that?” element to their work.

Begampur is a small town famous for its saree weaving in Hooghly district, these sarees can be identified by their loosely woven, light-weight and translucent made and have contrasting borders in red, black, purple, orange etc. These are also emphasized by a serrated edge motif. Narrow borders are woven with designs of a variety of stripes and figured motifs using dyed cotton yarn on the weft. Pair of hand-spun Italian linen handkerchiefs. A small part of the bridal trousseau of people born around the 1910s. The canvas woven by hand with artisanal looms (around the 1930s) was obtained from a long white and blue warp to which was added, at perfectly calculated intervals, the two-tone weft. Once freed from the frame, the strips were cut into squares and finished. The sensation you get from the touch is hard to describe! Dimensions: 38cmx36.5cm They can also be washed at 90°C. Description This well-thought-out project kit includes everything you need to make it yourself. While the skill development for this project is weaving with Danish cord, you will first need to assemble a 12" × 18" × 17 1/2" high stool frame made of ambrosia maple using loose tenons and glue, and finish it with a cream beeswax polish. You will then learn how to weave the top using Danish cord and L-shaped nails. The instructions show you how to do a classic two-strand warp and weft weave that is completed in three stages: the warp, the wrap and the weft. (Say that five times fast!) Components of the kit are listed under the Specifications tab. The stool can be completed in approximately 7 to 12 hours, over three days, plus 24 hours for the glue to cure. Suitable for the beginner to intermediate maker, 14 years and older. You will also have access to the step-by-step video and a downloadable copy of the written instructions.
