You may ask yourself “Is making money with a blog still possible?” 🤔 Absolutely! I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but I’ll say it again. Blogging is not just a hobby. It’s an opportunity to make money! With the right mindset and strategies in place, your blog can become your full-time income source without all the hassle of running a business. And this guide will show you the first steps. Let me take you on my journey from $0 to $10k+ per month with my blog so that you can find out if blogging might be an option for making some extra cash on the side or maybe even quitting your day job! I’m not going to lie. The journey doesn’t happen overnight. It took me 10 months to get to this point and there were plenty of mistakes made along the way (and still are). But you don’t need a perfect blog. All you need is to find your niche and start putting out great content. We’ll cover how to do that later on. Before we go into that though, let’s take a look at how much you can make from blogging and the income potential it has to offer. This post may contain affiliate links. Please read our disclosure policy for more information. How Much Money Can You Make Blogging? Many people mistakenly believe that blogging is not a sustainable and profitable form of income. After all, we often think of blogs as hobbies we do for fun – something we do in our free time between Netflix-binges or housework. However, there are thousands upon thousands of bloggers out there who are making a ridiculously good full-time income with their blogs. And most of them are lucky enough to have started with little to no experience. According to a survey by Money Under 30 , 22% of bloggers make more than $10,000 per month, 45% make more than $5,000 per month and 88% make more than $2,500 per month! And that’s just 3 months after launching their blog. So while blogging isn’t for everyone, it may be a viable option for you to explore if you have the chance! Want to Make Extra Money? Decide A Niche First things first! you’ll need to decide what niche your blog will focus on The word “niche” gets thrown around a lot but what exactly does it mean? In short, it is a way to narrow down your audience and make yourself appear as an expert in this area. This allows you to connect with those who are likely to be interested in what you’re doing. In other words, find a problem you can solve! For example, I created a blog on how to save money as a college student because I was able to identify that there is a need for this among my fellow students. 2. Pick A Domain Name Once you’ve decided on the niche, it’s time to pick a domain name. This is the name of the URL that people will use to find you. Think about what your niche is and what makes sense for this blog. You can choose something as simple as a dictionary word or as detailed as a full sentence. But keep in mind that it should be something straightforward with no extra wording. It’s also important to make this name as unique as possible to avoid any confusion or competition. You can check if your domain is available below (Try searching your name as an example) 3. Choose A Hosting Provider Once you’ve got a catchy domain name, it’s time to get your own website up and running. I recommend using Bluehost. This platform has always been my favorite hosting company because it is beginner-friendly and requires very little technical knowledge to set up. You can create a Money Making blog for as cheap as $2.95 per month and they even offer a free domain name (a $15 value), if you sign up for a year. They make it easy and take care of all the technical aspects involved in running a blog, so that you can spend more time creating content! 4. Set Up Bluehost It’s really easy to get started with Bluehost. It just takes a few minutes. Simply go to their homepage and choose “Get started.” After you’ve chosen a plan, click “Select.” I got the Basic plan, which is ideal for bloggers as its all you need. The next step is to set up your domain name, which you can do either by creating a new one (you get a FREE one with every Bluehost plan) or by entering an existing one. Fill out your information boxes on the registration page. Once you’ve filled in all the information boxes click “Submit” and you’ll be taken to a new page where you’ll create a password for your account! >> Click here to start your blog with Bluehost! << 5. Install WordPress Amlost done! Now that you’ve purchased your hosting service and free domain name, the final step is to install WordPress. Finally, Bluehost will ask you to choose a theme. You can choose what you feel fits your personality. If you’re not ready yet, feel free to skip this step. The free theme that I’m using is the Ashe and I haven’t changed it since I started this blog! 6. Customize The Look Of Your Bog Now that you’ve selected your theme, you can select “Start Building” It’s simple and easy! Just play around with it until you get a feel of what works best for your brand. This is a great way to test out what kind of style or design you like, so don’t be afraid to do some research on various ways to customize your blog. Once you find a design that suits your brand, then it’s time set upimportant pages! 7. Set Up Important Pages As you scroll down, there are some other important pages that you should set up before starting your blog. These pages include: – About Me Page – Privacy Policy (don’t worry a draft comes with the template!) You can also choose to use the contact page if you want to engage with people through contacting them. If you are using this page then you can also include your email address. How I Got 10k Followers On Pinterest Without Even Trying I don’t know about you, but I remember the first moment I saw Pinterest and thought ‘Finally! A place where I can find all of my favorite things in one place! I had no idea that with just a few clicks of the mouse button, I could be on my way to accumulating 100,000+ followers. Even being completely stunned the first time I came across a Pin that had over 1 million Likes. This is why it blows my mind every single day when someone comes up to me and tells me they have no idea what Pinterest is all about. I can’t stress enough how valuable being on Pinterest is. You have no idea how many people are searching for things every single day! That’s my way of saying it’s kind of a big deal… 8. Setting Up Your Business Account Setting up your business account is the first step to using Pinterest as a blogger. To get started, choose your language and click “Create Account”. You’ll need to enter your email address, create a password that meets their requirements, agree to the terms of service, then click “Next” in order to set up your account. Pinterest will send you an email to verify your account. Once that’s done, the fun begins! Once you’ve created an account on Pinterest, it’s time to figure out how to use Pinterest as a blogger and gain those valuable followers. 9. Creating Boards, Pinning Content, Following Others Pinterest is all about organizing your pins! Creating boards is the first step to getting organized and Pinterest makes it really easy. Create a new board by clicking “Boards” at the top of the page and then select “Create Board”. You’ll need to enter a name for your board and give it a description. Next, you’ll need to fill your board with content! To add content to your board, go back to “Boards” and hover over the board you want to add content to. This will open up all of the pins that are currently on that particular board. Click “Pin It” or just drag and drop an image onto the pin’s position on the page. You might be wondering how to stay consistent with Pinterest if you are new to the world of blogging?! Luckily, it’s not as hard as it sounds once you get started. Just follow these steps: 1) Find your niche and look for related keywords 2) Make sure you pin enough content to fill up the majority of your board (15-20 Pins per day!) 3) Use relevant hashtags (ie: #blog, #travel blog, #vacation plans, etc.) 4) Write a description for each pin using complementary words from the blog post 5) Make sure you are pinning high-quality content with lots of visuals! If you follow these five steps, your readers will love your boards and start following you themselves. Congratulations! You’re now ready to use Pinterest as a blogger and grow your following! Pinterest is a great way to expand your reach and grow traffic with little extra effort! Setting up your account is easy, and once you’re set up it’s time to get started!Just remember to stay consistent and you’re sure to find success with Pinterest as a blogger! 10. Top 5 Blogging Tools To Make Money I love blogging – it is my favorite hobby. I am always on the lookout for ways to make money blogging. It’s not easy, but you can find some good blog-related resources to make money on the internet if you know where to look. Here are five of my favorites: 1.) Jarvis (automatic blog writer) By far my favorite app that I use to make money blogging, one of the best resources is called Jarvis. This is a wonderful tool for bloggers who have very little time in their day. Jarvis allows you to create an entire blog post, YouTube Video, or social media post all by playing your voice into the phone. 2.) Canva One of the best tools that I have found to create pins is Canva. It is very easy to use, and you can make customized blog posts, pins, quotes, memes, text images for your website or any social media site to promote your business. 3.) Tailwind Is another tool that I absolutely love! It works with Pinterest and allows you to schedule pins, plan out a year’s worth of content, and get analytics on how well each pin has done so far. This one costs $10 per month but you can do a lot more than you can with other Pinterest tools. This one is definitely worth checking out if you’re a Pinterest fan because it will save you so much time and help your pins get seen! 4.) Google Analytics This is one of the best tools to use to gather information about your readers. It will tell you which posts are doing well, how people found your blog, what pages they read and for how long, where your viewers are located geographically, and more! If you’re serious about blogging then don’t skip this step. 5.) Fiverr While not directly related to blogging, Fiverr is one of the best resources I have found for doing simple tasks that you find yourself needing...
