Last Friday night we had Katie’s cowgirl/horse party, it was a hit with my sweet 5-year-old birthday girl! It was pink, brown and white everything since my little girl is not only a horse lov…

Giddy-Up Cowboy! Yee - Haw! My little baby has turned 3. He had the most amazing day celebrating in true cowboy style. I had so much fun planning and creating for Ethan's Birthday this year. I made most of the props and stationery for his party. All of the Invitations, Bunting, Table Signage, Treat Bag Tags, the Little Flags, Packaging Tags, the handmade chocolates on sticks, the Directional Sign and the cute little Milk Carton Treats to match the Candy Buffet. These are my favourite. I painted the TNT Dynamite Expolosives Box (the box was a great find at Revolve). But the thing I am most proud of is the Lemonade stand that I built with the help of my Hubby. He has now claimed it for a Bar now that the party has finished. I forgot to mention that I also made the cake. The children were kept entertained with a game of Pass the Parcel, a Jumping Castle and the Tin Can Toss Game. We had a BBQ Hoe Down Lunch and those guests that didn't dress up could choose from the Cowboy Hats and Scarfs to help them get into cowboy character. Each kid got a pouch to wear around their neck, to put their dried off gold in. It had a list of what they were going to do. This is how the other side of the yard looked before the party started As soon as the kids arrived, they got suited up, and ran around chasing each other with their guns. It was a great pass-time while waiting for everyone to arrive. They were SO cute! Serious Cowboys and Cowgirls! GIDDY UP! The real surprise of the day, was when COWBOY CLINT arrived with his horse!!! The kids were SO EXCITED to see a real cowboy!!! They got to pet and feed the horse. Cowboy Clint told the kids that good cowboys and cowgirls always mind their parents! I hope it sunk in :) So excited after getting to pet and feed the horse!!! Cowboy Clint is a family friend. He reminded my mom that she made him a pair of chaps and a vest when he was little, and that's what started it all!!! My mom also made the chaps Bubby is wearing for one of my little brothers! Again... thanks mom! Thanks Clint! Cowboy Clint showed the kids the horse shoe, and explained how horses have an extra "heart" that helps pump blood up the legs. I never knew that! The little buckaroos were intrigued, and so was I! Bubby felt extra special getting to ride the horse. Thank you COWBOY CLINT!!! You're the BEST!!! The kids will NEVER forget that a REAL COWBOY came to the party! You made Bubby's whole day! On to the games... RATTLE SKEDADDLE!!! The kids got to take turns tossing a snake into a bucket. Everyone liked it more than I thought. Even the girls ;) BRONCO BUSTER!!! The kids got to take turns lassoing the horse! It was just too cute! NUGGET FEVER Panning for gold was the hit of the day, as far as the games went! The kids LOVED it. We had about 15 minutes after we finished everything up, for the kids to play before their parents came to pick them up, and most of them chose to pan for gold. My son keeps asking when we can go to California to look for gold!!! How cute :) PRESENT TIME!!! They all ran to get their presents! I love how cute kids are, and how they get so excited to give gifts to each other. They sat around the campfire to open presents, while listening to, "Sweet Home Alabama," in the background. It was a fun day for everyone!!! 19th March 2017 Willow's Sheriff Callie Wild West 5th Birthday Party Willow's 5th birthday and she really wanted to have a Disney Sheriff Callie Wild West party. This is her favourite TV program at the moment. I still wasnt too sure but when I took my oldest son to Auckland I found a great party shop that gave me lots of inspiration. When I got home I found my material box and started by sewing buntings in Cowboy colours and pink gingham and matching table runners. I managed to buy her a very affordable cowgirl dress off Ebay, it was absolutely gorgeous and had the pink gingham in in to match my sewing :) Invitation Here is Willow's 5th birthday invitation. I got ideas of the internet and was quite pleased at how it turned out. Games Since we had so many children coming (30 kids on the day.. I know insane!) we decided not to do the usual party games like pass the parcel as they all take to long with that many kids. Instead we played Pin the badge on Sherrif Callie and had a pinata. We hired Ponycycles and these were a huge hit. Even the adults got in on the fun. We had eleven ponycycles at the party. They were all meant to be horses but there were a few extras thrown in as well for some extra fun. We had three different sizes, so plenty for everyone. Extra free play games As well as the games we had we also had some free play games around the backyard for everyone. We made a Cactus rope throw game which turned out way better than I thought. Im not the best artist so I was pleased with this. Another exra free play game was thrown together at the last minute, unfortunately I ran out of time to finish painting it. The object of the game was to throw the horse shoes and get them on the sick. It was a lot harder than it looked. Out of old pallets we got down the road we made a sand pit so the kids could go gold panning. We filled it with sand and painted stones gold to hide in the sandpit. My son especially loved this and spent a long time panning for gold. I got the sandpit sieves from KMart for $1.00 each. They worked really well. Decorations We brought lots of cow print balloons and pink ones also, made buntings in our colour scheme. I managed to find Hay Print table cloths for the tables and brought Sheriff Callie Toys for the table also. Out the back we have an old shelter that we store the kids bike and trailer in. We cleared this out and made it into a Country Barn. We brought Pink and Brown cowboy hats for all the children and bandannas. There were also Sheriff Badges for anyone who wanted them . Willow and I had an arts afternoon and tried to make a wooden sign with her name. We got more free pallets and made a Saloon (our drink station) and picked up some bales of pea straw for seats. Out the front we set up our big gazebo for the food. Toby Cactus Sheriff Callie Sparky (Sheriff Callies Horse) Deputy Peck Party Food & Drinks We decided since we were having a 11.30 - 3.30 party we would have some hot BBQ food. Every Hoe Down needs Chicken Kebabs and Corn on the cob. I had lots of fun preparing the food this time. Sheriff Callie Birthday Cake Willow's cake was made by a lovely lady I know (https://www.facebook.com/nzclevercookie) . She made such a fabulous job. We had lots of balloons for the kids to take also but forgot about them until half were already gone. Some lucky kids got more than one to take home. End of preschool days, now off to school Another new chapter in our daughters life is about to start. Final days of preschool this week then off to school. Willow is such a delight, a true friend to so many people. She is the most caring and kind girl and I am extremely proud to be her mum. I love you so much Willow and really enjoyed all the preparation we did together for your party. Thank you to all our wonderful friends and family who came and celebrated with us. Willow had a magical day with you all. Also thank you so much for all her gifts, she is one very spoilt girl. I knew I wanted the kids to be able to lasso a horse for the party, and went to the DI last week, and found a sawhorse (just the bottom part of this - the legs) for only $3! I put it in my cart right away, and this lady kept following me around telling me it would look great in a family room with a quilt draped over it. I think she wanted me to give it to her. I have given things to people in the past if they are drooling over what I have, but I knew I wanted this. I had NO idea how CUTE it would turn out! So... my AMAZING MOM (restlessrona) brought it to life! She found a picture of a horse head on line, blew it up, and cut it out, and traced it onto a piece of wood. She then cut it out, and hooked it onto a 2x4 for the neck. She also cut out ears, and drilled them on. My mom hooked the neck of the horse to a peanut shaped piece of wood, and then hooked that to the original saw horse legs. She drew a face on it with a marker. Isn't she just so good??? She drilled holes for the mane, and wrapped the end of a rope with tape, then hot-glued them into the holes, and separated the rope. She did the same for the tail. I got a small woo hoop, as my kids call them, or a hula hoop as the rest of the world knows them, from the dollar store, and wrapped it with dollar store rope. Restlessrona used a combination of spray paint and stain, and ended up matching the legs perfectly!!! It turned out cuter that I EVER imagined!!! Now that the party is over, I need to figure out some way to keep it. Maybe I will use it in the playroom??? Again... thank you mom!!! You're the best!
