Le Colonel Chabert- Honoré De Balzac / Dessin de Bertall. Les morts et les vivants L’immersion dans l’œuvre balzacienne nous fait rapidement comprendre pourquoi il est et restera un très grand écrivain. Ses romans et ses nouvelles nous plongent dans un passé décrit avec justesse. Il n'omet pas le contexte et prend toujours grand soin au « plantage du décor ». Le lecteur n’a aucun mal à faire évoluer les personnages dans son esprit, à les imaginer conversant, s’aimant ou se haïssant. Le Colonel Chabert ne fait par exception à cette règle. Il s’agit d’une nouvelle qui illustre l’ironie du sort face à la mort, aussi honorable qu’elle puisse être. Un homme tombe sur le champ d’une grande bataille. Mais contre toute attente il revient pour ainsi dire à la vie. La grande faucheuse, coquine dans le cas présent, le laisse esseulé, démuni et blessé. Ni nom, ni argent, ni reconnaissance. Comme à son habitude, Balzac nous peint des personnages aux traits de vérité, pétris dans le moule d’une profonde humanité même si dans ce cas ils manquent parfois de profondeur d’esprit. Ne vous fiez pas aux premières pages un peu indigestes à mon goût, car une fois montés dans le train de l’histoire vous ne descendrez plus. Le Colonel Chabert n’est pas homme banal et sa bataille posthume mérite qu’on s’y attarde. Je ne vous en dis pas plus. Une seule phrase encore, celle de Derville : « Toutes les horreurs que les romanciers croient inventer sont toujours en-dessous de la vérité. »

SEMINARIO La imprenta manual Universidad Complutense de Madrid MIÉRCOLES, 18 de abril de 2012 Mañana, 18 de abril, tendrá lugar un Seminario de Trabajo sobre la Imprenta Manual. El Seminario se celebrará en la Sala de Conferencias de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Documentación de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Comenzará a las 9:00 horas y concluirá a las 16:30 con una Mesa Redonda en la que diversos especialistas debatirán en torno a la investigación sobre la Imprenta. Dicho Seminario, organizado por el Grupo de Investigación: Bibliopegia. Grupo de investigación sobre encuadernación y el libro antiguo, reunirá a profesores y especialistas sobre la Imprenta.
