The Heathland Cap, is the fourth pattern in my ongoing collection inspired by the Secret of Roan Inish. ✨ With hints of golds and heather pinks, this design was intended to bring the flora of the heath landscapes to a knitted piece. The Cap is knit up in fingering weight yarn on size US 4/3.5 mm needles. It’s available in three sizes: Kids M/L, Adult S/M and Adult M/L. The pattern offers two fit style options, a fitted cap, or a cap with extra length for a slouchy fit. It’s constructed bottom-up, and features a two color corrugated rib brim. The design features four colors, but only two colors are in use at the same time, making it a simpler piece for those newer to colorwork. Floats remain short as well, with the longest float being 5 STS, appearing only in one round of the whole cap. For my sample I used Shetland fingering yarn by Sarah of @gatheredsheepyarns, Not Sponsored. Her work is genuinely stunning. Also available in this collection are the Tadhg Socks, Cliabh Socks, and Nuala Socks.

I made a few earlier attemps but I couldn't get out bed that early:-). This time I made it to get up at 5 am and arrived on time at the location! I was not alone, the sunrise was not special and there was no mist. BUT I did enjoy the view very much and I felt blessed to witness this spectacular scenery. In addition I met two other cool photographers who both gave me new inspiration. I am hoping for one more chance to go to this place during the period of bloom and try another composition, hopefully with some mist... This photo is a combination of three exposures, processed in Photomatix Pro while trying to keep the balance between a cool/slick look and a natural looking photo.

This lino print depicts a heathland walk across Frensham Common in Surrey. After a heavy downpour, wet channels were left in the sandy paths. (Please note the darkest colour is a greeny grey not black. It was difficult to photograph this accurately!) This landscape lino print is a limited edition of 13. It is an original, hand cut lino, printed on hand press using the reduction process and eight colours. Reduction printing means it has been made from one piece of lino which is cut away after each colour has been printed, creating a limited edition of prints. Signed, numbered and titled in pencil Due to the printing method that goes into making this original lino print, each and every one is slightly different, as each colour is hand printed creating a truly unique piece of art. Occasionally there are ink marks on the paper edge which can occur during the printing process, but would easily be covered by a mount when framing. Limited edition of 13.
