During the Communication section of my Health Science classes, I would use Rebus Puzzles to challenge my students' ability to see a nonsensical written phrase and turn it into a phrase that was comprehensible. It was a great tool for teaching about the obstacles and communication barriers in Healthcare. I decided to take it a step further and create some of my own that had a medical theme. This download includes 18 Rebus puzzles for your students to solve. You can two options that come with the download including: 2 worksheets with 9 rebus puzzles on each (Key included) A PowerPoint with all 18 puzzles (click on video preview to see a sampling) I've used these in different ways- as a warm-up, fun integrated activity or a game. It was great at sparking conversation on the challenges of communication. Looking for more content like this? Visit my store HERE! Follow me! I created this game for the unit on Communication. My students love playing "Mad Gab" and I wanted to create a version of phrases that would commonly be said by patients. This download includes two ways to play the game: A PowerPoint Game (Click on Video Preview to see a sampling of the questions) A Worksheet (Answer Key included) The game includes 20 unique phrases that will certainly make your students laugh as well as generate good discussion on how it can relate to working with communication barriers in healthcare. Use as a daily warm-up, hook to a unit on Communications or just as a way to break the monotony of a typical day. In both the game and worksheet, I explain the following: "Often in healthcare it is tough to understand our patients. They may have speech impairments, speak a different language, be scared/hurting or just not feel like talking or communicating. Although this game is designed to be witty and not accurate to the actual communication barriers you may experience, the goal is to make you think about how to overcome obstacles and persevere through the frustrations and difficulties."
