During the initial days of use, your rug may shed as loose fibers work their way out of the pile. This shedding is a natural process and should subside over time with regular vacuuming and gentle care. Care Instructions: To maintain the beauty and longevity of your hand-tufted wool rug, follow these simple care instructions: 1. Regular Vacuuming: Gently vacuum your rug on a daily or weekly basis to remove surface dust and debris. Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment, avoiding excessive pressure on the fibers. 2. Rotate Frequently: To ensure even wear, rotate your rug periodically, especially in high-traffic areas or areas exposed to direct sunlight. 3. Spot Cleaning: Promptly attend to spills and stains by blotting them with a clean, absorbent cloth. Avoid rubbing the stain, as this may cause it to set deeper into the fibers. For stubborn stains, consult a professional rug cleaner. 4. Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause colors to fade over time. Place your rug away from windows or use window treatments to minimize UV exposure. 5. Use Rug Pads: Enhance the comfort and stability of your rug by placing a quality rug pad underneath. Rug pads also help prevent slipping and protect your floors from scratches. 6. This week was our first week back and, boy am I tired! My class is great though...very inquisitive and eager to learn. They take their work seriously and are actively working most of the day. Who could ask for more?? We did quite a few things this week, but I want to share with you one "get to know you" project we did that really came out great. I seriously can't stop staring at it! I saw this pin on Pinterest. I love how it looks and thought it would make a great welcome sign. Now, on the pin, the hands seemed to be just colored in. I wanted something a bit more. So we started with creating Circle Maps about ourselves. What made us special? What are some things that have shaped us? Where did you go in your life? etc....Most of the kids finished these Circle Maps in class on the first day of school. I then asked the students to trace their hands and arms on a piece of 11 x 17" piece of paper. They then had to draw, write, decorate, etc...the traced in hand with items from the Circle Map. The goal was to teach their fellow classmates about themselves in a visual way, without giving away too much information (ie: I didn't want them to write paragraphs.) That is pretty much how far we got in class. So, the first homework assignment the students had to finish the project at home. I gave them this sheet so that they could be a bit more focused on their project and add a bit if they wanted. (but if you are going copy-less, just forgo this. They can write the information on a sheet of paper instead.) The next day, the hands came back to school...and they were great! I had the kids get into groups and share what they decided to put on their hands and why. The kids learned a lot about each other in that 15 minute session! You can see some of them used words as well as pictures to tell about themselves. I love the one directly in the center of this picture! Others just used pictures, like the one in the middle here. When I went to put them around a piece of poster board, like in the original pin, they didn't fit :( I think if I had used a smaller piece of paper to trace their hands to begin with they might have. Oh well! I decided to put them up as if the hands were all in a line, raising up.....and it came out great! I overlapped the hands, so I was able to get 5 or 6 on one piece of large construction paper. I then mounted them on my wall. I love it! All in all, this was a fun little project that served as a great way for the kids to get to know each other and make a nice display! What is something you do during the first week of school to help the kids get to know each other and for you to learn a little about them? Follow me on Snapchat for even more teaching ideas!

Bricolage made from different sources in 2015. The hand reaching out, comes from the movie poster of The Evil Dead (1981 poster) property of Amercican voice actress, Bridget Ellen Hoffman (born March 5th, 1957). Although she is not featured in the film, Hoffman is the model seen on the iconic Evil Dead poster and various promotional images with her and Bruce Campbell. For the background is a composition of elements from a ready-to-use catalog by Sonny Schug for Dover Clip-Art series from 1994. www.halteobsolescence.org/comment-lutter-contre-lobsolesc... steemit.com/environment/@rahulyadav/planned-obsolescence www.radiocamacua.uy/2018/05/de-la-lampara-incandescente-a... www.raibolivia.org/obsolescencia-programada-demanda-induc... www.elsaltodiario.com/consumo-que-suma/obsolescencia-prod... medium.com/@catherinesbm13/obsoletamente-necesario-2d35b0... ecoosfera.com/apple-samsung-obsolescencia-programada-tecn... easdesign.com.br/2018/11/15/a-importancia-de-se-usar-aqui... www.domain.com.au/news/tiny-houses-look-marvellous-but-ha... medium.com/@jamesrainbows/7-highly-profitable-ideas-for-a... www.change.org/p/josefa-gonz%C3%A1lez-blanco-ort%C3%ADz-m... shifter.sapo.pt/2019/10/software-livre/ www.rs-resource.fr/article-travaux-eco-responsable-ecolog... adiante.gal/sem-contato-mas-com-ligacom-o-confinamento-in... xn--zqs.org/solutions/lets-plan-the-end-of-planned-obsole... lopinabile.it/2018/03/13/licenziata-aver-rubato-dallimmon... www.tutiendacristiana.com/revista/cat/estilo-de-vida/post... informaticacero.com/apple-epson-brother-canon-hp-demandas... delgado.ec/blog/2017/01/08/ecuador-se-une-los-paises-legi... cestosdelixoelixeiras.com.br/blog-lixeiras/consumo-e-obso... enefilo.com/y/yasam/planli-eskitme-planned-obsolescence/2... www.homologos.net/airpod-e-stalinismo-di-mercato-cosa-puo... tecnojournal.com/obsolescencia-planificada www.timetoast.com/timelines/crecimiento-4f76b0a9-cfa1-46a... www.mycyberlaw.com/obsolescenza-programmata-maxi-sanzioni... nube.meriti.com/blog/conceptos-del-pasado-en-it www.lamescolanza.com/20190127/obsolescenza-programmata-ch... elsemanario.com/ciencia-y-tecnologia/obsolescencia-progra... cityviews-ct.com/the-logical-wrong/ fingram-history.oc3.ru/contents/obschestvo-potrebleniya silohubierasabido.wordpress.com/2017/10/09/ganarle-a-la-o... www.makingitmagazine.net/?p=10840 www.bobi-reemploi.fr/2020/07/24/economie-fonctionnalite-r... www.reforma.com/aplicacioneslibre/preacceso/articulo/defa... medium.com/climate-conscious/overconsumption-is-the-probl... anthropolitan.org/2021/02/12/what-is-anthropology-and-why... elregionalvm.com.ar/noticias-villa-maria/que-es-la-obsole... www.meneame.net/m/Meneantes/obsolescencia-deliberada-parte-1 www.elnorte.com/aplicacioneslibre/preacceso/articulo/defa... www.hisour.com/fr/overconsumption-40184/ www.elsaltodiario.com/alkimia/zonas-de-confort-civilizaci... jamesrainbows.medium.com/?p=ea30039a0d09 www.miteco.gob.es/es/ceneam/recursos/materiales/esconde-t... tiempodeactuar.es/blog/que-se-esconde-detras-de-la-tecnol... www.linkedin.com/posts/marjorie-guichard-%F0%9F%A6%8A-380... theconversation.com/la-fin-de-labondance-une-chance-pour-... ecoosfera.com/destacados/que-es-la-obsolescencia-programa... kesfedelim.net/kuresel-bir-koyde-miyiz/ ontgroei.degrowth.net/nederland-ontgroeit-een-online-bije... www.zaferdergisi.com/makale/14804-ureterek-var-olmak-veya... bhrecicla.com.br/blog/obsolescencia-programada-entenda-os... cronicaglobal.elespanol.com/vida/20210323/obsolescencia-p... blog.donalo.org/2022/05/24/consumismo-y-obsolescencia-pro... brunch.lk/minimalism-the-antithesis-to-overconsumption/ www.anthropologies.es/retorno-al-salvajismo-la-cultura-y-... bstulberg.medium.com/the-perils-of-heroic-individualism-3... www.planetab.com.mx/post/consumo-excesivo-esta-impulsando... www.framtiden.no/kampanjer/stopp-overforbruket www.tempestmag.org/author/paul_fleckenstein/
What do artists do?? Simplify what artists do into three, kid-friendly categories... Artists use their hands, their heart, and their mind! This set can be used by itself or with the studio habit posters (sold separately) that can be found in my shop! Each file is an image, so they can be easily resized to fit your space. The finished display will say "I am an ARTIST! I use my hands, heart, and mind. For the titles (I am an & I use my...) there are two different options: a one piece graphic or individual letters that can be cut out and arranged in a way that works best for your display. PLEASE NOTE: The picture of the example bulletin board is not the exact set. I made those by hand. It shows one way you can use these posters with my Studio Habit Posters.

*Please Note the Following when considering these wonderful craft shapes: We offer 2 different types of pine plywood- Yellow(Knotty) and White Pine. Knotty Yellow pine plywood does well with staining and painting, but has knots and other natural blemishes that make it have a more rustic appearance. Manufacturing Inks and Marks may be visible on some pieces, but can be sanded off or covered with paint very easily. White Pine products are generally very smooth and more uniform in color, but both options MAY HAVE minor random cracks, chips, knots and other NATURAL blemishes that give it character. On either option, Wood grain appearance may vary slightly from piece to piece. Light sanding MAY be required depending on your project preference. We will do our very best to minimize disturbances to the wood to make everything look professional! Please keep in mind, no wood piece is absolutely perfect, as they are handcrafted and sanded, but they are sure to be table, wall, or desk worthy! Please note: Shapes are sized by their longest dimension in the pictured orientation. When choosing a size, the first measurement is the size. The second measurement is the thickness of the wood. Our unfinished craft products are made to order & ready to ship within 24-36 business hours! They are crafted of a high quality cabinet grade HDF. All products are cut in-house on our CNC routers and are hand-sanded, smooth to the touch. We recommend using Dixie Belle Chalk Paint for the BEST coverage. You can also use acrylic paints on our products which can be purchased at any craft store. We also cut an assortment of products on 1/8" HDF, 3/8" HDF, and/or pine. 6. Professional Cleaning: For a deep clean, consider professional rug cleaning every 12 to 18 months, depending on usage and soiling. With proper care and attention, your hand-tufted wool rug will continue to be a cherished centerpiece in your home, adding warmth, style, and sophistication for years to come. Shipping & Taxes: 1. A modern stencil font Mind the Gap was born out of the frustration of the love/hate relationship I have with the daily commute in London. I'm not sure if it's just a London thing or if the daily commute is hell in New York City, Paris, Madrid, Seoul, Shanghai, Beijing, Mexico City, Moscow, Tokyo and Berlin. And do they say "Mind the Gap"? Stencil font mind the gap The stencil font was created by hand cutting letter stencils and spraying them with black paint. This gives it an industrial, almost military look and feel. It's deliberately not perfect. I wanted it to be dirty, so it looks more real and has a bit of personality. Display font It includes one stylistic alternative for uppercase and lowercase A-Z. Plus an additional stylistic alternative for A,B,D,O,P,Q,R and a,b,d,e,g,o,p,q and three alternatives for numbers. That means you can change out repeated glyphs with alternatives. You can watch a quick demo on how to do this in Photoshop CC—https://youtu.be/YeUek2nZJu4 My Stencil font Includes; One weight Uppercase and Lowercase Numbers Punctuation & Symbols Stylistic sets Western European characters Central European characters South Eastern European characters OTF Check out my other fonts—http://bit.ly/itsmesimon About Simon Stratford Hello, that's me or itsmesimon, aka Simon Stratford. I design everything from custom typefaces for advertising agencies to ready to buy fonts for designers (like you) to the occasional digital oil painting for TV and print. I've spent over 20 years in the design industry, from teaching photoshop, web design, movie promotion, and branding agencies to digital marketing—I think I've done most jobs. I got tired of the rat race and the daily commute in London. So I stopped doing things I didn't what to do—and started doing things I did want to do—more creative things. Kawandi quilts have been on my mind ever since seeing the Collecting & Recollecting exhibit on display at the International Quilt Stud...
I have been saving scraps if they are large enough to cut a 1" square. I didn't really like to tell too many people about this because, well, you know. Some people just don't understand. - the ones that toss really BIG hunks into the waste basket at retreats. Recently I even saw a big chunk in the waste basket of a vendor at our state quilt show. I regret not being bold enough to ask if I could dig it out! However, I am no longer embarrassed or ashamed. Here's a quilt on display at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, visited recently, that makes 1" pieces look big. 1910-1930 Here is the full view so you can get the perspective. Not terribly graphic from afar, is it? But get closer to see the size of the pieces and the purposeful arrangement of chevrons which are ultimately joined into four large sections. It's truly a wonder - a testament to patience and extreme thrift! Checking The Quilt Index, where quilts from this museum collection are documented, I found out more about this quilt. Made by Bessie Sanford of Michigan, born in 1873, it is hand pieced and hand quilted from the back in fans. Someone more patient than I figured out that there are about 37,000 pieces. It measures 80" square. I understand and applaud Bessie. There is something so satisfying about 'using up' every tidbit. In the late 1800's it became quite the popular thing for some quilters who were competitive in nature to try to earn bragging rights about the number of pieces in their quilt. Agricultural fairs promoted this popular type of competition and articles appeared in newspapers stating the number of pieces in someone's quilt so, inevitably, someone else said, 'I can top that!" and the challenge was on. The result is that there are many such quilts but the first quilt that I admit brought tears to my eyes was Grace Snyder's Flower Basket Petit Point. I had never seen such a thing. It was on display in 2002 at the Houston International Quilt Show, chosen as one of the one hundred Best Quilts of the 20th century. It is composed of half square triangle units measuring one fourth of an inch!. You heard me right. Eight tiny triangles sewn together make a ‘block’ about the size of a postage stamp! This in not the full quilt but you can see it at the IQSCG website. Double click this image for a close-up. Grace was inspired by a needlepoint pattern on on a set of china. I was able to see the actual china for the first time at a recent lecture by Jeananne Wright in Colorado. The story of her life, as told to her daughter, is called No Time on My Hands, the understatement of all time! I highly recommend it. The Flower Basket quilt is now in the collection of IQSCM at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, as is this hexagon quilt, also by Grace. She just couldn't quit! Click here for just one of many links with more examples and information about quilts with many small pieces. So now you know. I save tiny pieces of fabric and beautiful quilts can bring me to tears!
This month we have been studying about shapes in math. I love geometry - it's definitely my favorite thing to teach in math. I wanted to show you a few of the things we have done. I have found so many wonderful free resources and ideas on Pinterest some you have probably seen before, but just in case.... This is a hall display we made learning about slides, flips and turns. The kids love using their hand prints to understand this skill. This week we did a 3D shape graph. I had found a website a long time ago that I used for recording sheets. Click here to go the website. It's about half way down. I used sour cubes instead of caramel because I knew they'd be more popular. I also used Gobstoppers instead of Whoppers because of a food allergy. We ended today with making shapes using gum drops and toothpicks. That's always exciting. Below is one I made. I had to use raisins for the sample because I was afraid I'd run out of gumdrops. Here is a game I created to review naming basic 3D shapes. Graphics courtesy of DJ Inkers. Ahh....almost Friday! :)

Feel free to email me ahead of time with any questions or concerns. Shipping Addresses Incorrect or return to sender? Make sure you have the correct shipping address. Many addresses come up as unverified by the USPS. If you message me before I create a label often I can correct the issue. Additional shipping cost may need to be factored in as the original shipping address may be closer or farther away. Once the item is shipped I have no control over it’s destination at that point. It will be the buyers responsibility to pay additional shipping to the correct address as well as a $5.00 re-ship fee to repackage if the box integrity is damaged and needs to be repacked. Second option if the buyer doesn’t want the item they will receive a refund of the purchase minus the cost of the original shipping and minus the cost of the return to sender should there be a fee associated with it. What if my shipment is lost, stolen or missing? Most packages ship Priority Mail with a tracking number provided in the email to the buyer. It is the responsibility of the buyer to track the package and make sure they secure it within the expected arrival time. If the buyer is unable to be there to secure receipt of the package in person they should call the shipper to arrange for a hold. The buyer should contact the shipping company which is most often the US postal service to open an investigation on a lost stolen or missing package. Once the item is dropped off at the shipping facility I have no control over how fast it ships or whether it arrives at its destination. There is no insurance coverage for lost, stolen or missing orders. The shop owner does not reimburse for lost stolen or missing packages. What if the item is not as described? The shop owner discloses all flaws to the best of their ability in the item description as well as including pictures and often video. It is up to the buyer to zoom in to check the item and message the seller through Etsy messaging if they need clearer pictures or have any questions about the measurements or quality of the time. Due to lighting variances the shop owner cannot claim 100% accuracy in pictures but do try to take a few different pictures of different brightness to show this variety. What if my item breaks? As a shop owner I go above and beyond normal packing to be sure your item arrives without damage. If you read my reviews you will see this. It is possible that your package ends up in a bin with items up to 70 lbs and on occasion a heavy package gets dropped on a smaller one. In this event the buyer should contact the Etsy seller and correspond through Etsy email. Make sure to include a picture with the contents of the box, the wrapping and the damaged item in the wrapping as well as a picture of the damaged item outside of the wrapping as the USPS likes to assess the packing job as well. From there we can file a claim which can take 30+ days to go through. What if there is a delay in shipping? Most of the items in this shop ship out within 1-3 business days. When there is a possible delay such as a specific shipping material has been ordered for the item or the shop owner is out of town for a few days, contact will be made to the buyer through Etsy messaging to inform them the day of purchase so the buyer may decide if they need to cancel the order due to timeliness. Once the item is dropped off, the shop owner has no control over the date of delivery. The majority of shipments are sent USPS and they majority of those shipments arrive throughout the country in 1-4 business days, however delays can occur such as around holiday times in which case the buyer should arrange ahead of purchase to upgrade their shipping to Priority Mail express or Fed Ex 1 day service. All free shipping is shipped standard. All Books ship Media Mail. If the buyer wishes to receive the item sooner they will need to pay an additional cost and should work this out with the shop owner ahead of time.
