Pioneering for its time, the Datejust was the first self-winding watch to feature a date display window and also the first Rolex watch to use the Jubilee bracelet design. Combined with the tried and true Oyster case, the Datejust is both understated and elegant and looks at home in both casual and formal settings. The watch is also available in a variety of dial designs, case sizes and metals making it the most versatile series in the Rolex collection. The Datejust reference 116233 was released in the mid-2000s, replacing the previous 5-digit references. The bi-metal watch is made from stainless steel and 18k yellow gold, which Rolex calls Rolesor and is available on both 5-link jubilee and 3-link oyster bracelets. Both bracelet types offer a significant improvement over their predecessors by using all solid links that prevent the stretching seen in earlier models. The Datejust 116233 is available in many dial configurations including black, champagne and silver colours and baton, roman or diamond hour markers.
