I am a big fan of wreaths! I dream of having giant crochet flowers wreath up on my front door, but due to rather limited time.. I made this for my craft room wall:) small steps ha! I was inspired b…
For my birthday awhile back I received and incredible box of goodies and gifts from a dear friend of mine. Among those treasures was a bag of crocheted flowers that she had made. I knew right away that I would string them onto a garland/bunting of sorts. Well, when I came to do just that I realized that I would like them in a wreath instead. I found a foam wreath that I had in my stash of supplies. I proceeded to wrap it with 1" strips of muslin I tore from a scrappy piece I had. Maybe it used to be a pillow case? I had not decided the details yet when I emailed my friend and told her my plan. She said she could see them with greenery and pinned on the wreath. So, I went and sat with the flowers and my wrapped wreath at my messy sewing table and there were vintage white buttons...and fabric scraps...all in sight...hmmm...maybe that could work? I went to my stash of green vintage fabrics, tore pieces about 1" by 3" and folded them into a rough leaf shape. I pinned them to the foam wreath along with the crocheted flowers and layered buttons for the flower center. I had to choose buttons that had small holes for the top button so my pin wouldn't just pop through. The pins were ones I had on hand, but you could do this with pins with a pretty pearl head and then it would be easier to choose your buttons. Each flower she crocheted was a different pattern so with the random green patterns of vintage fabric and different buttons, it all works well together! Want to make your own? A quick google search will bring you all kinds of flower patterns! For fun...I textured one of the pictures. :) Linking with these Tuesday Link up Parties: Coastal Charm Knick of Time

Happy Winter Solstice! I love these Eucalyptus and Orange wreaths I made. Every time I walk by them the smell is wonderful. I love that they are festive, yet not overly so. Also, easy to make. Learn how to bend wire coat hangers into wreath forms, dry oranges, assemble your wreaths, and make mini wreaths as well; What You'll Need; Eucalyptus Oranges Wire Wire Coat Hangers Hammer What To Do; To Shape the Wreath Forms; Using your hands bend the wire coat hanger out of it's triangle shape. Bend it until it is more like a lumpy circle. Use the hammer to bang it in a circle. Use the hammer to smooth out the edges. It does not have to be perfect! The imperfections make it unique. To Dry the Oranges; Slice your oranges into about 1/8-1/4 inch thickness. Dehydrate in your dehydrator at 135° F for 4-12 hours. Or in your oven at it's lowest setting. How to tell when they are done? The oranges will no longer feel sticky or tacky. To Make the Wreaths; Using 2 inch strands of wire, attach sprigs of Eucalyptus to the form. Layer on more and more Eucalyptus until desired fullness is achieved. I like to leave a spot of wire bare, but you can cover as much as you want. Play around with thickness and direction of the Eucalyptus. Play around with the placement of the oranges. When you are pleased with the orange placement secure them down. Use two, one inch sections of wire per orange. Pierce the oranges and wrap the wire around the base. For Mini Eucalyptus Wreaths; To make the base, take a long piece of wire, and wrap it around itself, creating a circle. Using smaller pieces of Eucalyptus, attach them to the base with one inch sections of wire. Layer on and play around with thickness and placement.
