She developed the design concept whilst thinking about how to provide greening solutions for urban dwellers with limited or no outside space. The low maintenance yet high aesthetic value of Airplants (Tillandsia) made them the perfect plants to design a space for.... and so the Airbox was born. Tillandsia are from the deserts, forests and mountainous regions of southern USA, the Caribbean and Central & South America. They are part of the Bromeliad genus and grow without soil, obtaining nutrients from their immediate environment. With over 550 recognised species they have become a collectable favourite with plant enthusiasts and amateurs alike. With airplant displays becoming more and more popular Jade saw a gap in the market for a simple, clean, contemporary design in which to display these beautiful plants. The Airbox has been designed to offer indoor greening for small spaces and urban dwellers. An opportunity to own your own interchangeable living wall. Made from Perspex®, each Airbox is made to order in the UK and contains a tray in which you can submerge the plants for their weekly water.
