Sure, there’s the requisite nativity scene, the ornaments that have been passed down from your great-grandparents, and the Griswold family inspired display of twinkling lights outside. But sometimes all you need is a trip to the grocery store to deck out your house for the holidays (especially if you’ve been procrastinating putting anything up!).

Installment number seven of Christmas with Cousin Eddie is complete! We had the best time celebrating the best movie with some super fun people! We missed getting to do this party last year because Dempsey was super fresh and we had construction going on in our house at the time, so this year, we were itching to get the tradition alive again! The only other year we’ve missed other than last year was the year Wilson was born. Putting together a big party two weeks after having a baby is pretty much impossible, amiright? Actually– shout out to my sister-in-law for actually pulling off a surprise party for my brother-in-law’s 30th with an under two-week-old! I still don’t know how she did it. #superwoman SO! Back to CWCE! We loved getting to utilize our somewhat freshly renovated keeping area for most of the party action! Our menu was the same as last time, with the addition of a “freezing my baguettes off” sandwich station! Sadly I didn’t get a great photo of it, but you can see it in the overhead shot of the food table! You can’t see it in the above picture, but the Wild Turkey has a little tag on it saying, “I got the daughter in the clinic gettin’ cured off the Wild Turkey.” It just goes so perfectly with our OLD FASHIONED family Christmas station! I do have a listing for many of these food labels on etsy if you want to check that out right here! I did go with Christmas tree cakes this year instead of doing the pretzel trees from CWCE 5.0 because (1) easier and (2) we ended up doing a cigar box full of the rod pretzels to go with Uncle Lewis’s quote about them! The jelly of the month club was back in full force this year with an unprecedented SIX jellies! I had to make new labels this year which are not available as printables (yet, anyway) but you can shop the old Jelly of the Month club labels here! I did enjoy blending my love of charcuterie tables (you can see more by searching #merrygoldfoodtrays on insta) with CWCE this year, even if I did feel a tad rushed in putting the table together. It didn’t turn out quiiiite as great as I’d envisioned, but it did the job! (( Jelly of the Month club printable labels can be purchased here! )) Mele Kaliki-Vodka was just as big a hit this year as it has been in years prior! This big-batch cocktail is very easy and makes a LOT, so it’s perfect for parties. Here’s the recipe! And I’ve found that a big drink server is a huge plus for this party and many other entertaining opportunities, so I rounded up some really cute ones! (plus moose mugs) Turn on your JavaScript to view content . . . . . The eggless nog was also pretty delish! I don’t like real eggnog, and I really don’t love the idea of raw egg in my drink, so I make this eggless nog. And this year I skipped the added sugar, and just opted to dollop some eggnog flavored ice cream in the bowl instead. This helped keep it cool and made it taste a little more eggnog-y without adding actual eggs. So basically this stuff is a big melted milkshake! haha but who wouldn’t love that!? (( I’ve loved these light up letter boxes. I think I’ve used them for every party I’ve thrown for the past three years! They’re SO versatile! This color changing one also looks pretty fun! )) How many ways can we style a moose mug?! 😉 Speaking of… The plastic ones we have are sadly discontinued!! I love them so much. You can, however, find glass ones that are the next best thing at target or amazon. I do love that the ones from target appear to have a nose that fills up! Our plastic ones have non-fillable noses 😉 Just a minor detail! Moving on to more party details! These Taz mugs MADE MY YEAR. They are currently unavailable, but there is a place where you can sign up to receive an email once they’re restocked. I can’t help but think Christmas Vacation fans worldwide are eating these things up! See this scene if you don’t know where these mugs fit in! 😉 Filled with white MnMs! I made this burned up looking tree two years ago out of sticks and pipe cleaners! Still looks just as ugly after two years in the attic! 😉 (( A very similar wooden carousel can be found here or here! And don’t forget the right candles, like I obviously did this year!)) Our “fried cat” is still going strong after nearly a decade! I made this thing out of white fuzzy fabric and black felt from the craft store. Super easy! SPEAKING OF FRIED CAT!! My neighbor Julie made this awesome sweater just for this party! Is that not incredible!? I love me some Julie, and I love how into it she got! Now seems like the perfect time to segue into costume pics! I really wish I’d taken more photos! We had a “dress code” that if you couldn’t come Griswold, at least come super tacky! Everyone did so well! Next year I’m thinking about hiring a photographer to take pictures because I never get all the ones I want!! Price — Eddie with a beard– and me– Margo when the carpet got wet! I ordered this super cute sweater from Express which I will most certainly continue wearing, this black tube top from amazon (which had to be positioned just right… ha!) and a black tube skirt I’ve had for years. This one looks very similar! I just cut triangles out of black paper and taped them to the sweater to add that detail. Next time I wear this, I’ll probably add a few more! 🙂 You can find more about Price’s Eddie costume in this post. Here are some of our fun friends! These sweet blogger friends are awesome!
