Tacca Nivea White Also known as: White Bat Flower, Devil’s Whiskers, Cat Whiskers. This species is more of a rare white form of the ever popular “Bat Flower” and offers magnificent white, green veined blooms with long tentacles. It is one of the strangest and most amazing flowers in the plant kingdom. Native to Asian rain forests, where they grow in the loamy understory, often in deep shade. It comes from the Taccaceae family and consists of long-lived, short stemmed, rhizomatous, or tuberous herbaceous plants. This one has the largest flowers of all Taccas. Each flower is about 5-8" across and has long tendrils that hang from it. The plants reach about 1.2m (4 feet) in height in ideal conditions, but no where near that big where it can successfully be grown indoors. It will thrive in bright light, but should not be exposed to direct sunlight. Should do well in the same conditions that orchids and many epiphytic ferns grow in, with ample humidity, strong airflow, and moderate light and temperatures. Hardiness zones: 9-11 Plant will take light frost down to 3°C (37°F). Give the plants very little water through the winter and it would be ideal to provide a temperature of 15-18°C (60-65°F). As with any tropical, give the occasional mist spray through the summer. For fertilizer use, Miracle Grow mixed 1/4 teaspoon to 1 gallon of water. Repot every 2-3 years and remove decaying rhizome growth. Germination can take from 1-9 months so be patient. Don't toss out your seed beds thinking they won't germinate! *Regarding the difference between Tacca Integrifolia and Tacca Nivea White of which we offer seeds to both are: T. Nivea emerges with snow white bracts, which slowly age to have green veins. The foliage is a little lighter than T. Integrifolia, and the leaf stems stay light green, even in high light. This offer is for 10 seeds. For complete transparency we include payment processing & related fees in our shipping/handling cost.

Photographer duo India Hobson and Magnus Edmondson (known collectively as Haarkon) celebrate the universal beauty and rich history of glass greenhouses in a new book, Glasshouse Greenhouse. Filled with verdant images of greenhouses from around the world, the book is divided into seven thematic chapters including History, Research, and Pleasure. Haarkon complement the visual storytelling with written reflections that explain each location and their experience in discovering it. The UK-based pair travels widely for their editorial and commercial work as visual storytellers, and seeking out greenhouses has become a touchpoint in their explorations of new places. More

The winged passion flower is named after its quadrangular, winged stems. In terms of flowering, the species resembles a little brother of the giant passion flower (P. quadrangularis), as the special flowers are a fraction smaller and otherwise very similar. The plant also remains a lot smaller than the giant passion flower and is therefore better suited for the living room, conservatory or greenhouse. The first bloom follows after only 2-3 years, followed by oval, bright orange and very tasty fruits. Sowing description: Soak the seeds for 24 hours in orange juice and then sow in sowing and cutting soil. Keep the soil constantly moist, cover with cling film or glass and let it germinate in a warm and light place indoors. Germination can take several weeks to months. Family: Passifloraceae Scientific name: Passiflora alata Common name: Winged-stem Passionflower Native to: Brazil Sowing time: Whole year Difficulty: Intermediate Minimum temperature: 12 degrees Celsius

Latouria dendrobium Little Atro Latouria dendrobium Roy Tokunaga Latouria dendrobium shiraishii Some of my Latouria dendrobiums currently in flower - they are fascinating genera that include about 50 different species with majority native to Papua New Guinea and some to Samoa. They grow in hot, humid steamy rain forests attached to the trees in the area’s of year-round rainfall. The plant size ranges from small to very large and they have very long lasting flowers. Some of Latouria dendrobiums are among the most spectacular in the sub tribe and these days becoming very popular in cultivation. Because of their remote habitats, very little was known about many Latourias until quite recently, when several species that had been ‘discovered’ early in the century. There are also many hybrids been produced with crosses of the original jungle plants that are very desirable to orchid growers and collectors and they command high prices. Australian grower Hermon Slade in the 1950’s and 1960’ and Roy Tokunaga of Hawaii in the 1980’s and 1990’s produced many interesting crosses that are very popular today. One can always recognize Latouria dendrobiums - they are in the class of their own. They are not easy orchids to grow and because of their nature require specific conditions to thrive and to flower - they need filtered shade and not too much light, they like to be growing in moist conditions but not wet, they like resting in winter but not completely dry and can go backwoods very fast if they don’t get enough ventilation or humidity. I am forever learning with these orchids and adjusting my growing routine with different seasons and weather changes. But when they start flowering I always enjoy their special blooms and appreciate Nature creating these beautiful, unusual orchids.

This inspiration shoot was inspired by my love of greenhouses and botany. I wanted to create a simple but impactful statement arrangement using cloches and accented with ikebana style arrangements and kokedama. Lady Slipper Orchids were the star of this table along slide two types of fritillary, hellebore, and fern. The fun par of these floral designs is that you could do any type of flower or plant in these arrangements to match your vision. The possibilities are endless! Vendor Team Florals an

Increasingly greenhouses and conservatories have become more and more fashionable, whether for a place to grow vegetables all year round, a safe space for your plants that need warm, humid weather to thrive, an addition to a wealthy stately home, a wedding venue or a place to learn about flowers and
Introducing the "Solenostemon scutellarioides," commonly known as the Coloured Nettle (correct Latin name). This vibrant plant originates from tropical Africa and is a hybrid variety. It grows as a shrub, reaching heights and widths of up to 1.5 meters. The most remarkable feature of this plant is its beautifully colored leaves. The plant you will receive has been propagated from my own mother plant, ensuring its quality and authenticity. It has been nurtured without over-fertilization, prioritizing robustness and health through 100% organic methods. It has not been grown in a greenhouse, emphasizing quality over quantity. The plant is bushy with multiple branches, adding to its visual appeal. Caring for this plant is relatively easy. It thrives best in a slightly sunny location. It is important to avoid excessive sunlight, as it may cause the delicate leaves to burn. On the other hand, insufficient sunlight can result in less intense coloration of the leaves. Proper drainage is crucial to prevent waterlogging. The plant comes potted in a self-mixed, permeable organic substrate, ensuring its optimal growth conditions. Repotting is only necessary after a year, allowing the plant to settle and establish itself. The "Solenostemon scutellarioides" makes a stunning addition as a colorful solitary plant, perfect for window displays, for instance. It produces delicate and small flowers, but please note that it is not a hardy plant. Enjoy your new "Solenostemon scutellarioides," also known as the Coloured Nettle. Embrace its striking foliage and the size displayed, as it adds a vibrant touch to any space. You get the plant of the displayed size.
