The power point presentation on the Gods/Goddesses contains about: Their Main Title, other less important titles, their symbols, their personalities, and their family information. There is a chart for your kids to fill out as you go through it. This will help them keep all these Gods and Goddesses straight.There is a quiz show that asks questions based on the Power Point presentation. In addition, there is an activity in which each kid is assigned a god or goddess, and is asked to create an advertisement for a product that the God or Goddess might sponsor. For example, Hades might sponsor a Funeral Home. (This is an application level assignment). Example of a product and a worksheet to fill out is provided. There is also an activity that could be used as independent practice/homework in which you sort information about the Gods/Goddesses onto "Pinterest" boards. Also, there is a separate file for vocabulary in the Power Point slides. For each of the 12 vocabulary words, there is a flash card with a definition, picture, and sentence. There are also four different vocabulary activities. Two are comprehension level and one is application level. The first comprehension level activity is called "A 4 Square." For each word, the child writes the word, the definition, a sentence, and draws a picture. Example is provided. The second activity involves creating a comic book strip out of the vocabulary words. Information on the parts of a cartoon and a sample cartoon using vocabulary words is provided. The third activity asks you to choose the vocabulary word that fits in the story. Today we worked on our culminating project for our Greek Mythology unit. The kids made trading cards for their favorite Greek characters. They had SO MUCH fun! Today the kids kept telling me, "Mrs. Shelby, this has been the best day ever!" I asked why and they said, "These trading cards are SO fun!" One of the kids told me that he appreciated the opportunity to "visualize" the characters we have talked about in class. Yes, he used those exact words! I was thrilled that he had actually been paying attention in Reading class all year and remembered that reading strategy. Kids say the funniest things. Anyway, here are a few pictures of what the kids came up with. We are going to finish the project tomorrow. Here are the directions for the Greek Mythology Trading Cards.
