A good friend asked me to make her special co-worker that is retiring, a book that everyone could sign at her retirement party. I have not scrapped much lately and decided that this project might get my mojo back and make me do something creative! It did not turn out as good as I would have wanted but time was a factor as well as being able to sit up and scrap for short periods at a time before having to lay down and elevate my legs due to surgeries I had at the end of last year. I love making these box books from Cristi's patterns. Her patterns are so fun to work with and they are about the easiest patterns to follow. She does an excellent job with both her written and video instructions. Anyway, this one measures about 5.5 x 5.5 inches and is about 2 inches tall. All papers are Graphic 45. I love working with their papers and think they are such pretty papers. This album actually has three different collections in it but I think they all work together well. Since this is a book to write sentiments in almost all mats have lined paper instead of blank for a photo. I did leave the inside of the lid blank where they can add a group photo of everyone attending the retirement party. Now for the inside: When you open the book the pages are attached to the left side. Each page contain a pullout folder. All edges have been inked in Colorbox Chestnut Roan. The first page has two pull out tags. I glued the tag down behind that has places for date and time and such. I think the two metal corners add a lot to the finished look. The next pages show part of the pull out folders. Only one flap of the folder is inserted into the page pocket while the other flap is the front of the pages. These pages have a little folder that is actually held in the pocket with magnets. They open up to reveal plenty of space to write on. When you lift the flaps you will find more spaces for writing. The little tags swivel to show more space for writing. The next pages are very simple with little pullout fold outs. I used a sizzix die to cut the top flap and then embellished it with metal corners. Each folder unfolds to expose four more places to sign..........two on the fronts and two on the backs. The next set of pages are folder flaps again. They are simple pockets which each holds two of the cutouts from the G45 collections. I mounted said cutouts on black cardstock and added lined papers to their backs. When the flaps are lifted they reveal more places for signatures. The pockets in the middle each contain a little folder made form more cutouts from G45. The little double door folders are held closed by the string and button technique. More places for writing. The last set of pages were made by using a pocket die from Sizzix as well as the tag dies. I added the metal embellishments as the finishing touch. The fifth folder is hidden behind the final page. There are five folders that insert in each page. As I stated before, four of the folders are used as flaps in the book. The fifth folder is contained completely behind the last page. They all have lined papers for plenty more space for signing and sentiments. I did add a couple blank mats in case she wants to add a few photos. I added stickles here and there throughout the album.......well......just because I have to add stickles!!! lol I had a lot of fun making this album but do wished I felt better and could have worked on it more. I hope Sherry likes her memory book for her retirement. Thanks for stopping by and may the Lord always be with you.

Winners will be posted on the 7th of each month on the Mini Album Makers Blog. I used the NEW Graphic 45 Sun Kissed Collection to make a colorful beach-themed mini for this month's tutorial. I love the blue and orange tones of this paper. My mini this month is in the classic style that I usually make, but is a little larger than my usual offering. This one is 8" tall by 5" wide with a 1 1/2" spine. There are four pages and two large pockets on the inside front and back covers. The front is a fun collage of paper, flowers, micro beads, and charms, with a luscious yellow bow to top it all off! I have a few fun techniques for you this month, so let's get busy making a mini! We have to start off by splicing some cardstock together because we need a 10" x 14" piece, and my cardstock only comes in 12" x 12". Cut one piece of black cardstock to 10" x 12" and a second piece to 10" x 4". Overlap the cardstock to create the 14" width needed. For the covers and spine you need two pieces of chipboard measuring 8" x 5" and one piece that is 8" x 1 1/2". Attach the chipboard to the center of the cardstock, leaving a 3/16" gutter between the spine piece and the cover pieces. Angle the cardstock corners and apply double-sided tape to the flaps. Wrap the cardstock around the chipboard and gently score the gutters. Cut black cardstock to 7 1/2" x 6 3/4" and score on the shorter side at 1", 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/4", 2 3/4", 3 1/4", 3 1/2", 4", 4 1/2", 4 3/4", 5 1/4", 5 3/4". Fold the cardstock to create the hinges in the same manner as described HERE. You will have four (4) hings, with1/4" gutters between the hinges. Attach decorative paper to the spine, then attach the hinge mechanism. Attach decorative paper to the inside of the covers, as shown. Now, we will create some large pockets and tags for the inside front and back covers. A number (a big number) of years ago, I purchased some HUGE pre-made tags and pockets. I am not sure what they were meant for, but they've languished in my stash for AGES. I decided to make use of them for this mini! The pockets are 5 1/2" tall and 4 3/4" wide when folded. {I am only using two for this project, so I will have TONS leftover for...something else!} Each pocket has a strange tab at the top, so I decided to cut that off and then round the top corners (see the left side of the photo above). I cut paper to fit the front of the tag, using a large circle punch to make the notch at the top of the pocket. I added double-sided adhesive to the tabs, which fold over to make the pocket. I flipped the pocket over and added decorative paper to just the top edge of the pocket. (This is the area where I cut that tab off and rounded the corners.) I then folded up the pocket. It's ready to attach to the inside of the album. I made two of these pockets. The pockets came with pre-made tags. I really don't care too much for the shape of the tags, so I decided to add the bottom of the tag to a Graphic 45 square tag. I cut the bottom off the pre-made tag and rounded the corners. I then attached to the G45 tag to make a 7 3/8" x 4 1/2" tag. I created two tags, one for each pocket. I added paper to the front and back of the tag. The tag fits into the pocket perfectly! I cut cardstock to create the pages for my mini. Each page is 7 3/4" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 3/4" on the long side. I used a circle punch to make a notch on the edge of the page. To create a pocket on the back of the folded page, cut cardsotck to 7 3/4" x 4 3/4" and cut a notch in the center of the panel. I then cut pocket inserts, measuring 6 3/4" x 4 1/4", with rounded corners. A few of the pages have a page flap, measuring 6 1/2" x 4", with a 1/2" score at the top to attach it to the page. I glued one of the main (folded) pages to each hinge. I added the center-notched piece to the back of each hinge to make the pocket. (To see all the pages in the album, scroll down.) I decided to fussy cut some of the images from the paper collection to use on the front of my mini. I also cut the front cover piece out of the Sun Kissed signature sheet. I added the paper to the front and back covers, and to the spine. I used glue and foam adhesive to attach the various fussy cut pieces to the cover. I wanted to cover up the little girl's legs in the main image. I added the sticker tag from the collection to black cardstock and then placed it at an angle on the front cover. I wanted to add some micro beads to various areas of the cover, as shown. To add the beads to the cover, I first place a bit of glue onto the paper where I want the beads to go. Then, I pour some beads into a paper bowl .I add a blob of glue to the bowl. With a toothpick, I mix the glue into the beads. I can then pick up glue and bead blobs with the toothpick and add them to the cover. The glue dries clear, giving me a love blob of beads! I added some charms as well. I love how the beads look with the metal charms. I added some flowers and a poofy bow to finish off the cover. I tucked a few more charms into the flower bouquet. The cover is finished! Here is the back and side view. Now, let's take a look at each page. The inside front cover, with the large pocket and tag. Page 1 has the folded page that flips open. Here is a view with the page flipped open and the tag out of the pocket. I used the 12" x 12" papers and the stickers, plus the ephemera cards from the Sun Kissed Collection (Graphic 45). Here is the back of the tag with one of the ephemera cards. Page 2 is has a side pocket and Page 3 has a flip insert. The side pocket contains a photo mat insert. Once you flip up the panel on Page 3, you can see that I added another ephemera card. Here is a look at the reverse side of the photo mat insert. Page 4 and Page 5 have the folded pages as mirror images. The pages flip open to reveal two side-pocket pages with photo mat inserts. This is what the photo mats look like on the reverse side. Page 6 has a side pocket and Page 7 is the fold-out page. Here is the photo mat insert and the Page 7 flipped open. Here is the reverse side of the photo mat. Page 8 is a flip page. I added an ephemera card to the inside back cover pocket. This is the flap flipped up and the tag out of the pocket. The reverse side of the tag. Thanks for joining me today! Hi everyone :-)Here are some pictures of the Graphic 45 Home Sweet Home 5 x 5 Mini Album. This album can be used for a photo album or recipe album with pictures. There are 4 pages and also some more add
At last! I have more photos to share of the Graphic 45 Good Ol' Sport mini album (which I have been teasing you about for two weeks)! I have two little videos for you as well. I don't normally create sports themed items. My sons don't play sports, and my husband gave up playing sports years ago. However, for some unexplained reason, I fell in love with the G45 sports themed collection, Good Ol' Sport! For this sporty mini, I used almost a full 12 x 12 pad of the GOS papers, plus I added in some of the G45 retired collections that seemed to "match." I did not use many embellishments for this album. It is 95% paper! I did create this "winner's ribbon" from some ribbon, lace, and a bottle cap! My album got super "fat" and I could not redo the right cover flap, so I designed a clip to keep it closed. This is simply a small binder clip to which I glued some ribbon and a metal button! I also created some banners from the paper, and stamped a title onto the right-most banner. This mini is 5 x 7 x 2 inches. It is a fun size, and jam packed with pocket and flaps! One of my favorite parts of the entire project is this little "magazine" holder that I made for the front. I used a die cut template to make a "gift card pocket," which I covered with designer paper. I then cut images from the G45 paper to look like little magazine covers! I tied the whole lot with twine. Here is a peeky at what the album looks like opened up. You can see it is chock full of goodness! (To see every page, visit the video links below.) I have not had this much fun with a project in a very long time! I just loved every little bit of this mini. I am in love with pockets and flaps and journaling cards. I purchase Project Life cards all the time...not because I use that style of scrapbooking, but simply for the cards! They are perfect for tucking into my mini books! Each page is simply cardstock, layered together. It is all very easy to do. It does take some measuring and figuring, but I don't have those measurements for you yet... Here is a look at the back of the book. I have two videos for you. The first one is just a ramble through each page. You can see every pocket and flap. The second video is a little tutorial on how to create the actual base of the album. I hope you can figure it out. It is not as informative as I'd like, but I think it gets the job done. If you still have issues, there are better videos out there that explain this type of binding. I am working on a step-by-step tutorial for this mini, but I am swamped the next few weeks, so there is no telling when (or if) I will get to it. I hope this post is enough to get you started on making a book of your own! Thanks for stopping by! Good morning, Graphic 45 Fans! Are you ready for a blast from the past? On my very first Design Team term with Graphic 45, in 2010, they had just released Le' Romantique (2009 release). It was one of the first collections I had a chance to play with once I joined the team! And...now it's back! The Deluxe Collector's Edition of Le' Romantique will be available in September 2019, ten years after it's first release! I honor of this wonderful collection getting a fresh release, I have created a band new project! I have created a 7" x 5" x 2" mini album using only Le' Romantique! I often mix my collections, but I wanted to give you a tutorial that you could make with ONLY one deluxe collection pack or one 12x12 collection pack! This lovely mini album is perfect for a wedding or anniversary gift and holds over 30 photos! This is a simple album to construct and decorate, making it perfect for beginners and advanced crafters alike! The mini has four pages, plus large pockets on the inside covers. I have also used a package of the Regular Tags (black). My assignment this month was to take a past #ClubG45 project and "re-imagine" it. I chose the A Proper Gentleman's Board Book by Annette Green as my past club project. To create your project, you will need a Le' Romantique Deluxe Collector's Edition pack (or one 12x12 pad of the original Le' Romantique Collection), and the list of supplies shown at the bottom of this post. I did not have the full Deluxe Collector's Edition, hence I did not have the sticker sheets nor the chipboard pack. However, the original collection came with a sheet called "Tags" so I used that instead. You will have to substitute my selections from those that come with your Deluxe Collector's Edition stickers and chipboards. If you chose to make the project as Annette designed it, print the project sheet and follow her directions, substituting the Le' Romantique papers as desired. There is also a video tutorial (click HERE.) If you choose to make my version of this project, follow the photo tutorial below. I deviated quite a bit from Annette's original project. As always, PLEASE READ through the directions FIRST, before starting to cut into your paper! Let's get started! Cut two pieces of black chipboard to 7" x 5" and one piece to 7" x 2". These pieces are the front and back covers, plus the spine piece. Splice together medium weight black cardstock to create a piece that is 9" tall and 14 1/4" wide. Attach your chipboard covers onto the center of the cardstock, keeping a 1/4" gutter between the covers and the spine. You will have 1" border around the outside edges of the chipboard. Tip: Use a ruler to draw a 1" border around the edges of your cardstock. This will help you to keep your chipboard straight as you place it down. Trim the corners at an angle and add double-sided adhesive to the 1" border. Wrap the cardstock around the chipboard, making sure to burnish everything really well. Gently score the gutter between both covers and the spine. Work the covers open and closed gently, to prevent the cardstock from tearing. Gently burnish the outside edges of the wrapped chipboard. Now, let's make our hinge mechanism. Cut a piece of black cardstock to 6 7/8" x 7 1/2". On the 7 1/2" side score at: 1", 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/2", 3", 3 1/2", 4", 4 1/2", 5", 5 1/2", 6", and 6 1/2". You will have 13 sections as shown above. DO NOT FOLD ON THE SCORE LINES YET! (The white lines represent the score lines.) Place double-sided adhesive onto sections 2, 5, 8, and 11 as shown. You will be attaching sections 2 and 3 together, 5 and 6, 8 and 9, and then 11 and 12. These sections will become your four hinges. Sections 4, 7, 10 become your spaces between the hinges (gutters). Fold on all score lines, making sure to attach the appropriate sections together (as explained above) to form the hinges. You will have four 1/2" tall hinges with 1/2" gutters. There will also be a 1" section at each end which will reinforce the spaces between your spine and covers. Flip the hinge mechanism over and attach double-sided adhesive to the back. Attach the hinge mechanism to the spine and burnish. Make sure to line up the first hinge just slightly to the right of the left edge of the spine chipboard. There will be more space between the last hinge and the right edge of the spine chipboard. This is necessary to accommodate a waterfall element, which will be explained later. Gently score the gutter between both covers and the spine. Work the covers open and closed gently, to prevent the cardstock from tearing. Note: I usually decorate my covers last, just in case they get mangled while creating the inside components. If you wish to save your covers for the end, please read through the directions below and set the appropriate products aside so that you don't use them accidentally! Trim a piece of Enamored Embrace (reverse) paper to slightly smaller than 7" x 5" and attach it to the front cover. Tip: Sponge all paper edges with black ink. Trim a second piece of Enamored Embrace (reverse) paper to slightly smaller than 7" x 5" and attach it to the back cover. Trim a piece of Enamored Embrace (reverse) paper slightly smaller than 7" x 2" and attach it to the spine. To decorate the front cover, trim the frame shown from the Devoted paper and mat with black cardstock. Attach the matted image to a piece of black chipboard and glue it to the front cover. Die cut a sentiment (Many Blessings) and glue it to the bottom part of the framed image. (If you don't have an appropriate die cut phrase, you may use chipboard phrases or stickers from your stash, or you could print something onto cardstock and attach.) Glue an Antique Brass Ornate Metal Keyhole to the left side of the image. Add gold Matte Pearl Gems to the keyhole. Glue a selection of flowers and buds to the area around the keyhole, as shown. (The pink flowers I used are from the Precious Pink Rose Bouquet Collection.) Let's work on the inside of the album. Trim two pieces of Daydreams paper to 6 7/8" x 5" and attach to the inside front and back covers. Trim four pieces of Loves Labyrinth (reverse) to 6 3/4" x 3/8" and glue to each gutter. Note: there is a "gutter" after the last hinge. This is to allow enough space for the waterfall element we will be adding to the last page. To create your pages you may either use the G45 black chipboard or heavy weight cardstock. I elected to use 110# black cardstock for my pages and save the chipboard for other mini album projects. Trim four pieces of black cardstock (or chipboard) to 6 7/8" x 4 7/8" and round the outside corners only. Using strong double-sided adhesive (or your favorite glue), attach a page to each hinge. Make sure to keep the pages straight. Do not worry about the hinges showing on the reverse side of each page, as we will cover them with paper. Trim eight (8) pieces of Le' Romantique paper to 6 3/4" x 4 3/4". Round the outside corners only. To recreate my pages cut your paper as follows, rounding the right two corners (the right-hand stack shown above): 1 - Loves Labyrinth (page 1) 1 - Sending Flowers (reverse) (page 3) 1 - Enamored Embrace (page 5) 1 - Celebration (page 7) Cut the following, rounding the left two corners (the left-hand stack shown above): 1 - Signature (reverse, butterflies) (page 2) 1 - Key to My Heart (reverse) (page 4) 1 - Daydreams (reverse) (page 6) 1 - Tender Missives (page 8) Please note: if you are using the Original paper pad, you will NOT have the Sending Flowers sheet. You will need to substitute another print. Attach the paper to each page as stated above. Use the Regular Tag Die to cut 12 tag shapes for the six (6) tags we will be using for this project. (We will cover both sides of each tag.) Tip: If you do not have the tag die you can trace the tag and trim the shape slightly smaller with scissors. Or, you can cut a rectangle of cardstock to 4 3/4" x 3 3/4" and round all four corners. Attach the paper to each tag, as shown in the sample above (from another project). Trim six tag shapes from Well Groomed (reverse, stripes) and attach a piece to the front of each of the six tags. Make sure to reserve the gentleman image (shown above, upper left) from one of the sheets of Well Groomed paper. Trim three tag shapes from Tender Missives (reverse), two from Loves Labyrinth (reverse), and one from Sending Flowers (reverse). Attach the paper to the back of each of the six tags. Set the tags aside. We need to make four pockets for your mini. We need two for the inside covers and two for the pages. The pockets for the covers are slightly larger, but we will make all the pockets in the same manner. For the cover pockets: Cut two pieces of black cardstock to 3 1/2" x 6". Score at 1/2" on three sides. Trim the tabs at an angle to reduce bulk. Fold on the score lines and add double-sided adhesive to the resulting tabs. Attach one pocket (by the tabs) to the inside front cover and one to the inside back cover. (See the page photos below.) For the page pockets: Cut two pieces of black cardstock to 3 1/2" x 5 3/4". Score at 1/2" on three sides. Trim the tabs at an angle to reduce bulk. Fold on the score lines and add double-sided adhesive to the resulting tabs. Attach one pocket (by the tabs) to the bottom of page three and the second pocket to the bottom of page seven. (See the page photos below.) I have created many photo mats for my project. If you have a selection of square, rectangle and circle dies, cut a variety of photo mats and journaling blocks from ivory cardstock. If you do not have access to dies, you can cut square and rectangle photo mats with your trimmer. Now, let's decorate! This is the front inside cover and page one. If you have not attached your pocket to the inside front cover, please do so now. (Make sure you are using the pocket that is 5" wide.) Trim Signature (reverse, butterflies) paper to 2 7/8" x 4 7/8" and attach it to the pocket. Remember to sponge all your paper edges with black ink. Trim the image from Sweetheart of Mine paper and glue it to a piece of scrap chipboard. Glue the image to the center of the pocket. Select one of the tags (with Love's Labyrinth (reverse) on the back side) and attach a 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" ivory photo mat to the center of the tag. For the border, I used a section from the Tags page (original collection). You may use something similar from the DCE sticker sheet or chipboard sheet. To make the card, trim black cardstock to 11" x 4 1/4" and score at 5 1/2" on the long side. Fold and round the bottom four corners. Trim the image shown from the Well Groomed paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and round the bottom corners. Attach the image to the card front. Use a small image, similar to the one above, for your accent. I matted the image onto black cardstock and then added a gold gem. For the inside of the card, trim two pieces of ivory cardstock to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8". Round the corners as shown, and attach the cardstock to the inside of the card. Flip the tag and card over. For the tag, trim two circles (3" and 2 5/8") from ivory cardstock and attach to the tag as shown. trim a postage image from Tender Missives paper and attach to the tag. Tie a piece of ribbon to the top of the tag. Tip: Make sure that you do not put adhesive where things overlap. You want to be able to attach your photos to the photo mats. For the back of the card, trim Enamored Embrace paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8". Round the bottom corners and attach the paper to the back of the card. Place the tag and card into the pocket. For page one, add a 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" rectangle photo mat and a 2 5/8" circle photo mat to the page as shown. Place a decorative element and two gold gems into the upper right corner. Pages two and three. For page two, add a 3 1/4" square photo mat to the top center of the page. Glue an Antique Brass Ornate Metal Key below the photo mat. Add a small, silver gem to the key. Add a 2 5/8" x 3 7/8" journaling block to the bottom center of page two. Trim the image from Sweetheart of Mine paper and attach to the journaling block. If you have not attached the pocket to page three, do so now. Make sure you are using the 4 3/4" wide pocket. Trim Daydreams paper to 2 7/8" x 4 5/8" and attach it to the pocket. Trim the image from Sweetheart of Mine paper and attach it to the center of the pocket. We will decorate two tags for the pocket. Choose one tag with Loves Labyrinth (reverse) paper on the back side and one tag with Tender Missives (reverse) paper on the back side. Select one of the tags (with Love's Labyrinth (reverse) on the back side) and attach a 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" ivory photo mat to the center of the tag. Choose a circular embellishment and mat it with black cardstock. Attach the embellishment to the right edge of the tag. Tie a length of ribbon through the grommet at the top of the tag. Select a second tag (with Tender Missives (reverse) on the back side) and attach a 3 1/4" square ivory photo mat to the center of the tag. Trim a strip of scrap paper to 1/2" x 3 3/4" and attach it to the top of the tag, as shown. Glue an Antique Brass Ornate Metal Key to the decorative strip. Add a small, silver gem to the key. Tie a length of ribbon through the grommet at the top of the tag. Flip over the tag with Love's Labyrinth (reverse) on the back side. Attach a 2 5/8" decorative square ivory photo mat to the center of the tag. Make a flip card by trimming a piece of ivory cardstock to 4 1/2" x 2 1/4". Score the little card at 2 1/4" on the long side to make a 2 1/4" square card. Round the corners and attach the card to the center of the photo mat. Select a square embellishment and attach it to the front of the little flip card. Add a gold gem to the embellishment image. Flip over the tag with Tender Missives (reverse) on the back side and attach a 3 1/4" square ivory photo mat to the center of the tag. Choose a circular embellishment and mat it with black cardstock. Attach the embellishment to the lower right edge of the tag. Place the tags into the pocket. Pages four and five. Attach a 4" square ivory photo mat to the top center of page four. Attach a 2" x 3 1/4" ivory journaling block to the bottom center of the page. Glue a strip of decorative rose ribbon to the space between the ivory mats. Add a few silver gems to the ribbon strip. Attach two ivory circle photo mats to the center of page five. One should be 4" and the other 3". Pages six and seven. Attach a 5" x 3 3/4" ivory photo mat to the center of page six. Add a square embellishment to the top of the page. Place a silver gem onto the embellishment. If you have not attached the pocket to page seven, do so now. Make sure you are using the 4 3/4" wide pocket. Trim Sending Flowers paper to 2 7/8" x 4 5/8" and attach it to the pocket. Trim the image from Devoted paper and mat with black cardstock. Use foam adhesive to attach the image to the left side of the pocket. We will decorate two tags for the pocket. Choose one tag with Sending Flowers (reverse) paper on the back side and one tag with Tender Missives (reverse) paper on the back side. For the tag with Sending Flowers (reverse) paper on the back side, trim the image from Sweetheart of Mine paper and attach it to the front of the tag, as shown. Place adhesive only along the top edge of the image, making a tuck spot, or a place for hidden journaling. Tie a length of ribbon through the grommet at the top of the tag. Select the tag (with Tender Missives (reverse) on the back side) and attach a 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" ivory photo mat to the center of the tag. Trim a postage image from Tender Missives paper and mat it with black cardstock. Attach the embellishment to the left edge of the tag. Tie a length of ribbon through the grommet at the top of the tag. Flip over the tag with Sending Flowers (reverse) on the back side. Attach a 3 3/8" ivory circle photo mat to the top center of the tag. Select a square embellishment and attach it to the lower right corner of the tag, as shown. Add a silver gem to the embellishment image. Flip over the tag with Tender Missives (reverse) on the back side and attach a 2" x 3 1/4" ivory journaling mat to the top center of the tag. Attach a 2 1/2" ivory circle photo mat to the bottom right of the tag, as shown. Choose a mini tag embellishment and attach it as shown. Add a gold gem to the little tag. Place the tags into the pocket. Page eight and the inside back cover. Page eight contains a waterfall mechanism. Follow the directions below to create the waterfall. Cut three pieces of black cardstock to 6" x 4 1/4". Score each on the longer side at 1/2" from the top edge to make a 1/2" tab on each piece. Round the corners opposite the tab. Place double-sided adhesive onto each tab. Attach the tab of the first panel at the top edge of page eight. Flip the panel up and continue to attach the panels. The fold of each panel will match up to the bottom of the previous tab. Attach all panels in this manner. Waterfall page 1: Cut Signature (reverse, butterflies) paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and round the bottom two corners. Attach the paper to the panel. Trim a 4 3/4" x 3 3/4" photo mat from ivory cardstock and attach it to the center of the panel. Waterfall page 2: Cut Key to My Heart (reverse) paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and round the top two corners. Attach the paper to the panel. Trim a 3 1/4" square photo mat from ivory cardstock and attach it to the center of the panel. Choose a mini tag embellishment and attach it as shown. Add a gold gem to the little tag. Cut a strip of Sending Flowers (reverse) paper to 3/8" x 4 1/8" and attach it to the tab as shown. Waterfall page 3: Cut Celebration paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and round the bottom two corners. Attach the paper to the panel. Trim the image from Sweetheart of Mine paper and attach it along the left edge to make a tuck spot. Waterfall page 4: Cut Celebration (reverse) paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and round the top two corners. Attach the paper to the panel. Trim the image from Sweetheart of Mine paper and attach it along the right edge to make a tuck spot. Cut a strip of Sending Flowers (reverse) paper to 3/8" x 4 1/8" and attach it to the tab as shown. Waterfall page 5: Cut Key to My heart paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and round the bottom two corners. Attach the paper to the panel. Attach a 3 3/4" square ivory photo mat to the center of the panel. Waterfall page 6: Cut My Beloved paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and round the top two corners. Attach the paper to the panel. Attach a 3 3/4" square ivory photo mat to the center of the panel. Cut a strip of Sending Flowers (reverse) paper to 3/8" x 4 1/8" and attach it to the tab as shown. Waterfall page seven/base page: Cut a strip of Sending Flowers (reverse) paper to 3/8" x 4 1/8" and attach it to the tab as shown. Attach a 3 1/2" ivory circle photo mat to the top left of the base page, as shown. Attach a 2 5/8" x 4" ivory journaling block to the bottom right of the base page. Now, let's finish the inside back cover. If you have not attached your pocket, please do so now. (Make sure you are using the pocket that is 5" wide.) Trim My Beloved paper to 2 7/8" x 4 7/8" and attach it to the pocket. Trim the image from Sweetheart of Mine paper and mat it with black cardstock. Glue the image to a piece of scrap chipboard, then attach it to the center of the pocket. We need to make a card and a tag for the pocket. Select the tag (with Tender Missives (reverse) on the back side) and attach a 3 1/4" square ivory photo mat to the bottom center of the tag. Select an image to attach to the top center of the tag, using foam adhesive. Tie a length of ribbon through the grommet at the top of the tag. To make the card, trim black cardstock to 11" x 4 1/4" and score at 5 1/2" on the long side. Fold and round the bottom four corners. Trim Key to My Heart (reverse) paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8" and round the bottom corners. Attach the panel to the front of the card. Trim the image shown from the Sweetheart of Mine paper and attach it to the card front. For the inside of the card, trim two pieces of ivory cardstock to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8". Round the corners as shown, and attach the cardstock to the inside of the card. Flip the tag and card over and attach a 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" ivory photo mat to the center of the tag. Trim the image from Devoted paper and attach to the left edge of the tag. For the back of the card, trim My Beloved paper to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8". Round the bottom corners and attach the paper to the back of the card. Place the tag and card into the pocket. You are finished! Thanks for joining me today! Happy crafting! Hiya friends! As you might know, I've been in a G45 crafting frenzy nigh on a month now, what with the audition (I made the Final 30!) and then my three projects shipped to G45 on Monday. I posted the Communique shadow box HERE, and I want to show you another project included in that shipment. I used G45's newest line - Little Darlings. Such beautiful graphics! Here's a very chunky 4"x4" mini album. Not a lot of embellishment on the front since the mother and baby are so darn cute! The little girl is a pull-out tag, and the right side has space for a photo. I still have to make the coordinating photo corners before this goes to it's new home. :) More pull-out tags on these pages. Don't you just love that little baby face? A single tag on the left and two on the right side. I don't have a photo of the back (gasp!) but it's covered with the blue "B" paper. I used a combination of 12x12 sheets and 8x8. Also the sticker sheet and chipboard pieces from both sets. It's a Little Darlings embellishment extravaganza! I'll post my last project in a day or two, as well as the Little Darlings one that didn't make the cut. :) Thanks for visiting today! It's a gorgeous day and I'm going to go outside for sun and yard work. Next week we're headed back down into the 60's (*still* higher than normal temps) so I'm going to take advantage "soak up" the vitamin D while I can. Cheers, Susan
Hi everyone :-) Here is the video tutorial on how to make the G45 Home Sweet Home recipe mini album. This recipe album can also be used as a regular flip mini album. The album cover measure 9 1/5 x 6
Hi there! As promised, here is my other Once Upon A Springtime project. It's a Graphic 45 ATC Book Box and it goes perfectly with the ATC tutorial I posted recently! Here are some photos along with step-by-step instructions on how you can make your own. :) I know I used a lot of different kinds of flowers, but you can substitute any brand or color as you wish. You could even use different papers from the two paper pads I used. That's what I love about papercrafting - you can really make it your own! Cover all the edges of your book box with washi tape. Cover the entire front, back and spine. Step 2. Cover the inside left of the box as well. Step 3. Cut out these images from your Springtime paper pad. Trim to 4.5" tall. Step 4. Cut out this image. From the same paper you cut this image from, fussy cut "The Fairies" banner. (See step 12) Step 5. Adhere "Once Upon A Springtime" image to the front of your box. Attach green frame with foam dots. Step 6. Fussy cut these images from your Springtime paper pad. (They're all from the main page.) Step 7. Arrange images per photo then adhere. Step 8. From your Springtime pad, take some blue stripe paper and cut a 2.25" x 10.5" piece. Score the top and bottom at 3 1/8". Step 9. Adhere blue stripe paper to the middle of your box. Step 10. Adhere some flowers to the top of your box. Step 11. From Baby 2 Bride paper pad, remove paper with blue floral design (white and blue vine design on the reverse). Measure the inside dimensions of the box, cut paper to match dimensions, then adhere to box. Step 12. Adhere blue frame and images per photo. Step 13. Add Stickles to the fairy's wings as well as the edges of the green frame. Adhere more blue and white flowers. Step 14. Adhere door pulls to the spine. Hello dear visitors! I'm excited to share another mini album I created using gorgeous Graphic 45 papers "Craft Reflections". It's not a new collection and I have had it for a long time in my stash. I thought it was perfect for a vintage style mini album like the one I'm showing you today. The album's dimensions are 5 1/4" X 6 5/8", the spine is 3". It has 8 pocket pages and I used envelopes (standard size 6.5" X 4.5") for creating the base for them. I also used quite a few of Tim Holtz & Sizzix dies, I think they are perfect for the vintage style projects. You can find the guidelines for creating the album, including the measurements and the list of the dies in the YouTube video which I've posted on my channel here. Drop me a comment if you have a question. I have a short video tutorial on making these tag pockets using the Stampin' Up Tag Topper Punch. You can find a walk-through for this mini album on my You Tube channel here: Thanks for watching a have a great weekend! Hugs, Alexandra
I had fun covering this nice storage unit with some left over Tim Holtz Wallflower paper, wooden tags, twine and handmade flowers. Used Tim Holtz Bird Cage as well. Also, if you notice, I installed 3 pockets on the side that are now holding my 3 favorite ribbons I use. I was able to take 2 drawers full of my most used craft supplies and organize it into this heavy duty unit. I have one more unit to make, a different style.

Hi everyone :-)Here is part 2 on how to make a 8x5 pocket mini album with flaps and tags.In this video I will show how to make and decorate the 1. page front with fold out flap and a tag. Will also sh
The Mini Album Makers Challenge will feature a monthly challenge, with each Design Team Member posting a link to a mini album tutorial, tip, or trick on the 1st of each month. Then, one team member will post a full tutorial on the 14th of each month! (My BIG tutorial month is not until February, but I will post smaller tutorials monthly.) In addition, there will be guest makers each month! Click HERE for the October Challenge! You will have all month to make a NEW project and enter the challenge for a chance to win a prize. (See prize details at the end of the post.) Winners will be posted on the 7th of each month on the Mini Album Makers Blog. I have made a brand NEW project to share with you this month! If you are a long-time follower of mine, you know I love to make a mini album! However, it has been four or five months since I made a proper mini album! It was a blast to get back to my one true love...mini album making! I created a sweet little mini that is 6 1/2" tall, 4 1/2" wide, with a 1 1/4" spine. This is the perfect size for 6x4 photos! Graphic 45 is a sponsor of the team so I used Graphic 45 Vintage Hollywood papers for my book, plus some bits and pieces of Artisan Style and Curtain Call (quite old and quite retired). I had such fun with this theme and style of mini album. When my husband saw it he said that it was "classic Gloria"! Which is a pretty great thing to hear! I make this style of mini most of the time, but for this particular mini, I had an idea for making folded pages. My dear friend Wanda is always showing me what she makes by folding a 12x12 piece of paper, which is usually something genius. I wanted to try her ideas for making mini album pages, but I could not remember how she showed me to fold and cut the paper. Since Wanda does not have a blog, I took myself to Pinterest, and in my search to discover how to fold the paper, I ran across THIS VIDEO TUTORIAL by Ginger Ropp (My Sisters Scrapper), which was just the idea I was looking for! My measurements, dimensions, and methods are a bit different than what Ginger used, and I have added more page sets than she used, but if you would like a great video for this style of book, give hers a look! I generally stuff my mini albums too full for the spine I create, but this time, I was careful to make my spine the correct size, with the correct number of pages! The mini closes the way it was designed to do! I tend to make very chunky minis, so this skinny mini was a lot of fun to do! I kept the embellishment on the front of the book to a minimum. I really wanted to make something practical and eye-catching without gluing the whole kitchen sink to the front of the album! You can see from the back and the spine that the book does not bulge out! I still had a bit of an issue with the black cardstock wanting to crack, but I painted a thin layer of gel multi medium over the weak areas and that seemed to keep the paper from trearing. This is the first time I used plain cardstock for my base layer. Normally I wrap the chipboard with printed paper - which ALWAYS cracks! So, I am learning what works and what does not. (See the tutorial below for how I constructed the album base.) The mini has three tab (or accordion fold) hinges and three page sets. I would normally try to cram twice that many pages into a book. I hope I have learned my lesson about hinges, gutters, and page number restraint! But I doubt it! I still have lots of pockets and some flip outs, but it is less bulky than usual. Each page is the perfect size for the dazzling Graphic 45 Ephemera Cards! If you wish to see every page of the mini, see the video at the end of the post. I take a jazzy walk through the mini so you can see all the pockets and flips. Let's get started with the tutorial. I will show you how to construct the book and the base pages, then you are on your own to decorate. This is the same style of mini that I always make. The size of the covers and spine varies from book to book, but it is the same basic construction that I use for most of the minis that I make from scratch. Cut three pieces of chipboard for the covers and the spine. The front and back covers are 6 1/2" x 4 1/2". The spine is 6 1/2" x 1 1/4". Place adhesive on the back of each piece. I used Scor-tape, but you can use what works best for you. Cut black cardstock to approximately 8 1/2" x 12". Remove the adhesive backing from the back of your covers and spine and place the pieces in the center of the cardstock. Make sure you have a 1/8" gap between each cover and the spine. Trim the corners at an angle and place adhesive on the cardstock flaps and on the spine. Each time I make a mini album I learn more and more what NOT To do. Back in August of last year, I made four little minis (see the post HERE) and they turned out cute, but I had some issues with the spine, as I was trying something a little different with the construction. This time I had a better experience with getting the base of the book together. Remove the adhesive backing and fold the excess cardstock in toward the center and burnish everything. Trim a piece of printed paper to 6 3/8" x 1 1/8" and attach it to the spine, then burnish. (The area with the printed paper is where the hinge mechanism will be attached.) I make a style of hinge that I was taught to call the accordion fold or tab fold hinge mechanism. I learned to make this from a book about, what else, book binding, that I purchased way back in the early 1990's! {Yes, I have been paper crafting for a LONG time!} There are other variations of this hinge floating around, but I still make mine this way. To make the hinges, cut black cardstock to 5 1/2" x 6". Score on the long side at 1", 1 1/2" 2", 2 1/2", 3", 3 1/2", 4", 4 1/2", and 5". Accordion fold on the score lines and burnish. Place adhesive on the 3rd, 6th, and 9th sections, as shown. Remove the adhesive backing and fold the sections together to form three "tab" hinges. You should have a 1" section at the front, then a hinge, then a 1/2" gutter, a second hinge, a second 1/2" gutter, a third hinge, then the 1" back section. Flip the hinge mechanism over the place adhesive on the back. Remove the adhesive backing and attach the hinge mechanism to the spine as shown. Burnish everything and gently work the hinges from side to side. Use your bone folder to GENTLY score the space between the chipboard covers and the spine. You do NOT want to tear or puncture the cardstock. You simply want to stretch the fibers of the paper. Gently fold the covers closed. Fold each cover and gently work it open and closed to stretch the cardstock fibers and keep the paper from tearing. I do not normally use cardstock for my covers. I normally paint the chipboard, which often causes it to swell or warp. Or, I use printed paper to wrap the chipboard, but it tears dreadfully. I still had a bit of an issue with the cardstock wanting to crack, but I painted a thin layer of gel multi medium over the weak areas and that seemed to work. Trim printed paper to 6 3/8" x 4 3/8" to decorate the inside of the covers. I like how crisp this looks with the black cardstock. Your cover base is finished. You can move on to the page sets. To make the pages, I folded some sections of cardstock to make three page sets, one to fit over each of the hinges. This is a bit different from how I have made my page sets in the past. I wanted to try this folded method, so I thank both Wanda and Ginger for their inspiration! You can cut three pieces of cardstock in the same manner, but depending on how you fold the cardstock, you will get various styles for each page set. I will show you one way to fold the paper. Cut black cardstock to 8" wide by 12" long. Score at 4" on the 8" side. Rotate the paper and score at 6" on the 12" side. You will have four panels, each one 6" x 4". Orient the cardstock so the 8" side is on top. Cut along the score line from the top edge to the center score line. Use your craft knife to trim next to the original cut line to remove a 1/16" section of cardstock, as shown. Trim 1" from the right-hand, top panel, and round the corners. Fold the cardstock in half on the score line so that you have a 12" long by 4" wide folded piece. Burnish the fold. Fold the top section down, along the center score line. Flip the page set over and fold the rounded edge flap down, as shown. Burnish all folds. This is what the back page looks like with the flap lifted up. Turn the page set over again to the front, and open the flap. Use a 1" circle punch to punch a notch in the upper right edge. Place double-sided tape along the bottom edge, as shown. Fold the flap down, securing it at the bottom. You will have an open pocket. The left edge of the pocket will attach to the tab hinge. The right side will become the pocket opening. Open the page set. You will have two pages that measure 6" tall by 4" wide. You may create a pocket for one or both of these pages. I created four pockets for my mini. To make a pocket, cut black cardstock to 4 3/4" x 3 1/2". Score at 1/2" from the edge on three sides. Angle the bottom corners and add adhesive to the tabs. Fold on the score lines and burnish. Place the pocket on the page as shown. For the sample, I placed a pocket on both pages in the first page set. The other page sets have just one pocket each. If you wish to create a flip page instead of a pocket on your page cut cardstock to 6" x 3 1/2" and score at 1/2" from the top edge. Round the bottom corners. Place adhesive above the score line, fold on the score line and burnish. Attach the little flap to the top of the page. This is what the page looks like with the flap added (the blue panel above). As I finished each page set, I labeled the open edge where the hinge would be inserted. That way I would not get confused and have things upside down! I have put things together with upside down pockets one too many times! Place adhesive on both sides of your hinges. I attach my pages to the hinges BEFORE I decorate. You may decorate first, but I always make mistakes when I do it that way, so I attach my pages first. Each page will have an open space that slides over the hinge so that the hinge is tucked up inside the page set. (If you make a different style of page, you can simply attach a page to each side of the hinge, which gives you three pages or 6 sides.) Attach one page set to each hinge. My pages fold open so that there are actually seven (7) pages(14 sides) in total. Depending on how you fold your cardstock, you may have more or fewer pages than I do. I also created pockets for the inside front and back covers. Cut black cardstock to 3 1/2" x 5 1/2". Score at 1/2" from the edge on three sides. Angle the bottom corners and add adhesive to the tabs. Fold the tabs and attach the pockets to the inside covers. I decorated each pocket and slipped a decorated a Graphic 45 Regular Black Tag into the pockets. The pockets on the inside covers are slightly wider than the pockets in the mini album, which means the tags fit into the larger pockets, but not into the page pockets. If I make this book again, I will make every thing a tad wider so that a regular or square tag will fit the interior pockets! I repeated the process for the inside back cover. The photo mats that fit each side pocket are made from black cardstock and measure 5 1/2" x 3 1/2". I rounded all four corners and attached decorative paper to both sides. If you want to see all the inside pages, see the attached video. Thanks for joining me today! I hope that you are as excited as I am about this new challenge blog!
