Jake And Th Neverland Pirates
Captain Ryan invited his Mateys to join him on a high sea adventure in our backyard for his 5th birthday party. Arrival X marks the party spot! As each crew member arrived, we gave them a bandana and an eye patch. The Party Games Treasure Boxes After they were properly attired, they worked on decorating treasure boxes for their pirate booty! Message in a Bottle Treasure Hunt Once our entire crew arrived, we set out to find treasure, following clues we found in bottles. Each child got to open a bottle with a special map inside with a picture of the next location. Digging for Treasure Our maps led us to buried treasure. Each pirate received a "treasure" bag with an attached picture list of items to search for in the sand. After they found all of the items on the list, they brought them to a senior crew member to check their share of the loot! We hid ring pops, gold coins, necklaces, gems, compass rings, skeleton heads, and rolo candy. Walk the Plank Once we found all of our treasure, our pirates walked the plank. And walked backwards on the plank, and "hopped on one foot" the plank. Captain Says The crew had to practice taking orders from Captain Dad in this fun game of "Captain Says." Pirate Ship Cannon Battle A talented young man from our ward made these awesome pirate ships! The crew had a fabulous time throwing cannonballs at each other! Birthday Treats

My little Noah turned 5 years old. My sweet, sweet first born…is now FIVE YEARS OLD. Wow, that went by FAST! The idea for the pirate birthday theme came from Noah. Shortly after his 4th birth…
For those of you who are unaware, Trash Packs contain trashies: adorable rotting characters coming directly to you from the garbage can. Researching and planning for this party was a blast, because it was all news to me. Not to say that there weren't garbage themed toys in my childhood (Garbage Pail Kids anyone?) but the fact that refuse as toys never gets old is fantastic. Ooey gooey, stinky slimy- all things that are right up my alley! The YUCK factor and kids go hand in hand. My outfit Trashies! We started the party with making our own trash puppets (supplies purchased at Urban Source). The characters that they created were at times intricate, at times haphazard, and all creatively trash-tastic. Jack the Clown entertained the non crafters with balloons, and there was a bouncy castle as well. Between all the stations, over 25 kids were endlessly entertained. The decor was amazing, Waleed's mom having had the BRILLIANT idea to hang all of the empty Trash Pack trash cans that belong to Waleed (he has TONS!) from ribbon, with colour coordinated helium balloons (orange, yellow and blue) and a 'Scrappy Birthday' trash themed banner. For games we did a slime race (they loved it, it was so messy!) and a trash bag race (think potato sack race). SLIME! Cornstarch and Lime Koolaid (smells nice, and dyes your fingers less than food colouring) The party ended with the Pinata, which I themed specially (Sore Berry is Waleed's favorite Trash Pack character). Whew! What a great time! Thanks to the family for having us at their event, Jack the Clown and I had a wonderful time. Bring on the trashy parties, I am now Trash Pack prepared! Until Next time, Love, BeeBop xoxo
I realize that I haven't posted anything since April-AJ's birthday! LOL Maybe (notice I said Maybe) I can try to keep this current now that school has started and I feel a little bit more ahead of the game on staying organized. First off, let's just send a shout out to all things Pinterest!! Love that site!!! We planned a Pirate theme party for Brayden and we were able to pull it off all thanks to pinterest!! It was such a fun party and I really feel that the kids enjoyed it. It was also VERY inexpensive thanks to all the ideas we found from pinterest...ok, enough advertising ha Here are a few of the pics of what all we did and how we did it! The cake was done by a wonderful lady near our home who is a genius when it comes to creating cakemasterpieces! Loved it!! We also had a trays of just a few cupcakes in order to carry out our color theme-black, white, red. We just used an ordinary Dollar Tree vinyl tablecloth and then added other trays and foods. The trays were the silver chargers from Dollar Tree and the base on them was the glass tapered candlesticks from Dollar Tree. With a little spray paint they were black and red to match the theme!! On one of our trays we had Fudge bars to be the "planks" and the other tray we just had cubed cheese for the "Gold Nuggets". The cupcakes were on the same DT chargers, just painted red. We just used a circle punch to put patterned paper on them. We used 4 glass candle holders from DT and added ribbon around the center and them put a label on them. We found some old mini coolers that we added a little bit of matching material to and put our silverware and napkins in it. Our present table had just a DT banner around the outside and some DT Pirate decorations on it. We also had a banner up on the window that I purchased from Etsy and printed it off-wow-what a time saver!!! For the games, we began with 4 items the kids had to find in our yard using a pirate map we made. The 4 items were in 4 different spots in brown sacks labeled 1-3 (the swords we propped up against a tree instead of in bags with #4). After they found them all, they had to come back inside and open up the bags there-we told them that if they were going to be a pirate, they had to dress like a pirate! Bag #1-Eyepatch Bag #2-Sword Hands Bag #3-Pirate Hat Bag #4-Swords Once they were all dressed, we went back outside for the final portion-they had to Walk the Plank and then they went to the Cannon ball Toss. A father of a lady I work with created the wood toss board and my husband painted a ship on it! We spray painted 2 bags (12 in each bag) of balls from DT and those were their cannon balls. Afterwards, they used their final map to find the "treasure" aka Goody Bags. They were my favorite of all time! They were Huggies wipe containers-spraypainted gold! I put a red striped paper on top with a pirate and Thanks for Coming to My Party to cover up the Huggies sign. Inside they had a bag of goldfish-labeled Pirate Fish Bait, they had a mini bottle of water with the label covered in matching paper and a skull and cross bone that said Sea Water. They also had Ring Pops, pirate tattoos, Rolos, a necklace, compass, party blower, and a doublin (sp). The kids all brough them back inside and went through their "booty"! LOL I really feel that the kids all had a great time at the party!!! Everyone say AARRRGGGHHH!!

Argh, Mateys! X marks the spot--so glad you are here! This post is a long time in coming. My oldest two girls had a combined Jake and the Neverland Pirates Party last October. I guess pirates were the big thing last year because it seemed like everyone dressed up as a pirate this year for Halloween, including them. I was just excited to do a not-so-girly birthday party, because let's be honest--with 3 girls I'm sure we will have many, many girly parties through the years. So first and foremost--let's talk cake. I was soooo excited to make a treasure chest cake. Ahhh--I was giddy thinking about it for months beforehand. The bottom and the lid are all cake. I stacked rectangular pieces of cake for both of them, then carved the lid piece so it had a curve. My husband saw me struggling with the lid and stepped in to help (he is much more engineering-minded than me)--he cut two equal semicircles which he had me hold against the sides of the cake, then he took a long serated knife and used those as his guide to put the knife up against as he cut, and voila! a perfect lid shape. After covering in fondant I made indentations to resemble wood slats, then used some floral wire to scratch it up a bit to look like wood grain, then I painted some brown food coloring/vanilla extract combo onto it to add some dimension. I found a coin chocolate mold and made a bunch of gold doubloons to put in the treasure chest and spilling out onto the brown sugar dirt. And we must have Jake's sword on the front if it is truly going to be his treasure chest! The other kid-friendly food was fun to do as well--Jake Jello boats, Goldfish, "Gold nuggets" (chicken nuggets), "Cannonballs" (whoppers), and Pixie Stix. The decor was really easy for this party--we had black dashes along the sidewalk going up to our front door with a big X on it, then more on the wall, with Bucky's mast, which was so easy to make--I just took a piece of poster board and put strips of painters tape on it. No painting and no cutting required! Backtracking a little to the invitations--I made a little invite that I printed on tan scrapbooking paper, then tore the edges (I tried burning them, but let's just say it was kind of a disaster, and I really am not old enough to play with fire, still!). Thanks to my husband, brother, and nephews, enough IBC rootbeer bottles were emptied a few weekends prior to the party during a rather exciting BYU football game, and I used those for our "letter in a bottle" invite, with a gold doubloon tied around it with the guest's name on it. And to make things even more awesome for this party, my amazing and wonderful mother-in-law made my husband a fabulous Captain Hook costume for the party (and Halloween!), and we had Captain Hook answering the door when the guests arrived, and leading them through the whole party. Here he is with the two birthday girls "Izzy" and "Back-Eye Jessie"--the first thing when kids got there was to pick a pirate name that they got to wear around on a name tag. There were different jars to pick papers from, then we'd put it all together into one name. "Izzy" got a name too, and she was "Red-Strap Bertha." The kids all got a kick out of having an authentic pirate name. And our littlest pirate was at the party too. She mainly hung out in Grammy's arms. Isn't she adorable?! We had a few games for the kids to play, and after each of them they "earned" some new pirate accessory. First they played Pin the Hook on Hook, and they earned their red solo cup hooks. Then we made them all walk the plank, and they got to earn pink Izzy bandanas for the girls or red Jake bandanas for the boys. Then the kids got to dig for buried treasure in the sand table. Now, I must digress for a moment and say that little Black-Eyed Jessie wasn't as set on a pirate party as her older sister was. She wanted fairies, so I told her I would somehow include fairies in the party. It was perfect with the tie in of Pixie Dust that Izzy has in her pouch, so one of the things they had to find was a "moonstone" which they then turned into "Fairy Mary" downstairs by the Pixie Dust Tree to earn their Izzy Pixie Dust Pouch filled with pixie dust. My mother-in-law was a saint being Fairy Mary for us--her name is Mary after all--and how stinky, but my camera battery died right then and I didn't get any good shots of the kids getting their pouches. All they were were those little gold wedding favors bags you can get at the craft store that I tied ribbon to to make a necklace, then put a small packed of glitter inside. That satisfied my promise of fairies at the party, and my little pirate was a happy After that we got to sing, eat, open presents, and control the mass chaos that seems to ensue when presents are opened. Before leaving, the kids had to find their treasure chests (their party favors) which they discovered downstairs on the ship. We had a swash-buckling good time. I'm sure next year we will be back to a frilly, girly party, but for this year they enjoyed plundering, hornswaggling, and being such cute little pirates.
My sister Scarlett had a BIG Pirate Party for my nephew Crew! She did an awesome job. There was a lot of fun activities and yummy food.
