This is an Exceptionally Nice - Unusual Antique Clock Dial. This dial would have been removed from a "Grandmothers" Clock ( Smaller Scale than a Full Size Grandfathers Clock ). Late Georgian Period - Circa Early 19th Century. It Would have been Removed From either a Early Weight Driven - Wooden Works Wall Clock or Based on it Size Possibly a Grandmothers or Smaller Scale Grandfathers Clock. It is Made out of 1 Solid Piece of Pine Wood. It has Beautifully Hand Painted Floral Features and Classic Style Black Numerals. It is in Very Nice - Much Better Than Average All Original Condition with a few Small Areas of Paint Loss. Note the the Wood has a Slight Curvature. It would make a great wall decoration in the special spot. It has had a Hanger installed on the Back so it is Ready to Hang on the Wall. Displays Very Nicely. Yep..... that's me..... and my new baby!!! The new whimsical painted grandfather clock! Thats seriously how excited I was that day.... like I'd just brought home a new baby! I have dreamed about this very project for years!!! I've just never taken the steps to make it happen. It's not like it was difficult to find a clock in my local Craigslist. There were so many to choose from....and this baby cost me only $100! I was totally happy with that until some of the gals in my Whimsical Wonderla

For your consideration is this rather attractive 1930's Art Deco Grandmother clock. Veneered in a mid tone walnut with beautiful detailing accentuating the shape, no expense spared when made. The dial is silvered with black enamel roman numerals, showing some wear to the silvering but nothing too unsightly. Original glass and bezel which is 18cm is diameter. The whole case is very nicely portioned with square trunk and hood with scalloped edges. This clock has an eight day movement, with a Westminster chime and strike, chiming on the half and hour. Fully working and professionally restored both movement and casing comes in great condition, we're sure the new owners will have many years of enjoyment from this wonderful time piece.

We're traveling to Virginia today and checking in on our friend Susan of Stone Creek Redesigns and Finds. Recently Susan found this circa 1978 Grandfather clock. It was not in working order and after she priced replacement parts, a decision was made to reinvent this piece. So, she stripped the rest of the parts from it to sell online and set about giving this a new use. It was to become a combination message board/coat rack/umbrella stand. It received several coats of Navajo White by American Paint Company while the inside got a couple of coats of APC paint in Dollar Bill. The plexiglass where the face had been was given coats of chalkboard paint both inside and out. Susan didn't want the future contents of the coat rack/umbrella stand to be seen from the outside so she created a reverse stencil and tacked it to the inside of the glass using spray adhesive. Then, she took a can of frosted glass spray and coated it several times. (GENIUS!) To complete the bottom of this clock redo, Susan chose a hotel sign typography from the Graphics Fairy and transferred it. Then she filled it in with a paint pen and sanded. After a little waxing and distressing, Susan was finished. Her new multi-purpose makeover of an outdated Grandfather clock was complete. Was it time well spent? I'd say so! Especially considering that it sold almost immediately! See for yourself... Isn't a beauty? What a great save! It's subtly reminding me that there is a non-working Grandfather clock in a second hand store in my little town that I passed by because it didn't work. Shame on me! But, I didn't yet have this piece for inspiration. Susan, I'm sure my husband will thank you for this when I drag him with me to see if it's still available.
