The following excerpt written about the artwork is from the article "In Search of Good News," published with the original. "So, what do we need to cultivate? What do we want to bring along [into the new world we envision]? As the artwork demonstrates, we get to write a new story together, one that looks to the joys, the reasons for hope - no matter how small - that we see around us. A new story is being written from the ashes and flames. The city, the people, the mountains and plants stretch from the earth, the fishes and the birds rising: the Good News of the Gospel, of liberation, of change continuously enfleshed around us. We take our daily bread, harvested and baked by the hands of many, as our nourishment for the journey, and hold each other - lovingly, compassionately, and in accountability - as we seek to resist anything that inhibits liberation. The needle and thread under the skyline represent the culture that's being woven. The artists and weavers and potters and musicians, the young and the old, who are creating revolution and putting love into action and dancing along the way. VANGELO DI LUNEDì 7 SETTEMBRE 2020 VANGELO (Lc 6,6-11) Osservavano per vedere se guariva in giorno di sabato. + Dal Vangelo secondo Luca Un sabato Gesù entrò nella sinagoga e si mise a insegnare. C’era là un uomo che aveva la mano destra paralizzata. Gli scribi e i farisei lo osservavano per vedere se lo guariva in giorno di sabato, per trovare di che accusarlo. Ma Gesù conosceva i loro pensieri e disse all’uomo che aveva la mano paralizzata: «Àlzati e mettiti qui in mezzo!». Si alzò e si mise in mezzo. Poi Gesù disse loro: «Domando a voi: in giorno di sabato, è lecito fare del bene o fare del male, salvare una vita o sopprimerla?». E guardandoli tutti intorno, disse all’uomo: «Tendi la tua mano!». Egli lo fece e la sua mano fu guarita. Ma essi, fuori di sé dalla collera, si misero a discutere tra loro su quello che avrebbero potuto fare a Gesù. Parola del Signore UN MIO PENSIERO. Gesù continua ad entrare nelle sinagoghe, a parlare per chi vuole comprendere, ma proprio lì, dove si legge la parola di Dio, gli riesce più difficile farsi conoscere veramente, perché chi detiene la sapienza di saper leggere le scritture, la usa per avere il potere sul popolo. Cercando di metterlo in difficoltà, con domande a trabocchetto, volevano dimostrare che la sua parola andava contro la le legge di Dio, per loro era più importante rispettare le leggi che loro stessi avevano promulgato, che rispettare Dio e il suo amore per l'uomo. Anzi volevano tenere il popolo lontano da Dio, come se fosse il Dio di pochi eletti e non di tutta l' umanità. Purtroppo questa presunzione è ancora oggi causa di grandi malintesi tra la Chiesa e il popolo dei fedeli, che invece di avvicinare la gente al Signore, molti si allontanano. A volte basta un niente, una chiacchiera provocata dall' invidia, o dalla superbia, e subito si crea una frattura che se non chiarita diventa incolmabile, ci vuole serenità d' animo per chiarire i malintesi, da ambo le parti. Scribi e farisei non erano disponibili a parlare con Gesù di quello che Dio voleva, perché vedevano in lui un usurpatore, uno che voleva prendere il loro posto, il più vicino a Dio, e facendo così, hanno inaridito il loro cuore e non hanno permesso al Signore di guarirli, non hanno accettato di rivedere le loro posizioni, di stendere quella mano inaridita, senza linfa vitale, senza Dio. Accettare di essere malati, di aver bisogno di essere sanati nel cuore, è una cosa molto difficile, dobbiamo semplicemente prenderne atto, senza giudicare, ma pregare per chi si ostina a discutere, specialmente sulla parola di Dio. Nel camminare dietro al Signore si impara molto,anche a capire lo scopo ed il valore della sofferenza; prendere la croce e seguire il Signore o rifiutarla, non accettare di condividere con Lui l'amore per i fratelli. Il cammino di fede è un impegno, ma molti pensando di sapere già tutto, di poter fare a meno di rivestirsi di Cristo, e restano a parlare dentro e fuori del tempio,di quello che è giusto o sbagliato... e intanto Gesù passa e se ne va!
