There's no declaration or government proclamation that requires Valentine's Day cards to be pink and red or to be festooned with flowers are hearts. I've been sharing Valentine's Day cards all week week, and none of them fit that bill. They do have one thing in common, though - they
Black & Delightful Dijon with a touch of Tip Top Taupe is what I used to create two pocket scrapbooking cards with this card. If you've missed the last three posts, I mentioned that each time I make a card, I would use up the scraps from creating the card to come up with my own pocket scrapbooking cards. The one on the left I can write on the black banner with the white uni-ball Gel Pen. And I can leave the rest as is, add a 2 x 2 photo, or stamp something on it later. So let's look at the card itself. I figured there was enough black, so I used my Tip Top Taupe Stampin' Write Marker to fill in some spots on the compass stamp since there was a bit of that colour in the black star map/chart. Isn't the heart sentiment a great design. I love how the word "greatest" continues and forms the shape of the heart to punch out with the "Sweetheart Punch". Here is the side view. For the inside, I messed up. If you look closely you can see that I attached the inside, up side down! The dipper is upside down. I wanted the heavier stamp (the compass) at the bottom... Two more of the "Going Places" DSP cards to go. Some time in the future I would like to just use cardstock and the "Going Global" stamp set. So watch for them to come a while down the road. #stampinup Do you ever have days or weeks when the time just gets away from you? For some reason, I've been feeling that way a lot this year! It may be because I've changed my schedule and I'm getting up earlier so my son can practice driving to high school....and I'm NOT going to bed any earlier. You'd think I'd feel like I have more time, but it's not quite working out that way. My dad used to say that your expenses expand the more money you make...whenever I thought that if I just got a raise I could save some money. I think time must work that way too--I'm awake for a longer period of time, but I'm still filling almost every waking hour (well, sometimes I fill those "waking" hours with a nap or some mindless TV). Anyway, I meant to play along in last week's Create with Connie and Mary sketch challenge. I even made a card for it. But I didn't get it posted in time for the deadline. Whatever. It's still an awesome sketch and I really like how my card turned out. And I hope my blog followers will still be inspired by it!! It's an awesome sketch, too! I've mentioned before that I really love the Going Places suite in the Occasions catalog. I love the stamp set, the coordinating World Traveler Embossing Folder, and the papers in the Going Places 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Stack. I thought this sketch would be a great way to showcase how perfectly everything goes together. I started by embossing a Delightful Dijon panel with the World Traveler Embossing Folder. I used Stampin' Dimensionals to add this to a Mossy Meadow card base. Next, I added a 1.5" strip of Mossy Meadow grid paper from the Going Places DSP stack, set off by two 1/4" strips from the same DSP stack. I used snail adhesive for the 1/4" strips. I laid them on a scrap of card stock, ran the snail along their length and peeled them off and applied them to the card like stickers. Finally, I stamped the globe and "you are my greatest adventure" heart in Mossy Meadow onto Very Vanilla. I punched the globe with the 2" Circle Punch and the heart with the Sweetheart Punch. I adhered these elements to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. I really like how this simple card turned out--the layout is wonderful and I love the textures from the embossing and the DSP! tams# 6089 Product List Going Global Clear-Mount Stamp Set [140748] $19.00 Mossy Meadow Classic Stampin' Pad [133645] $6.50 Mossy Meadow 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock [133676] $7.00 Delightful Dijon 8-1/2" X 11" Cardstock [138338] $7.00 Very Vanilla 8-1/2" X 11" Card Stock [101650] $8.50 Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack [140581] $8.00 World Traveler Textured Impressions Embossing Folder [138289] $7.50 2" Circle Punch [133782] $18.00 Sweetheart Punch [133786] $16.00 Stampin' Dimensionals [104430] $4.00 SNAIL Permanent Adhesive [104332] $7.00

One of my very first purchases was this set and this stack of designer paper. Going Global is a wonderful masculine stamp set which we've needed desperately. I was inspired for this card by a card by Carolyn King. And I remembered demonstrator friend, Kelli Perkey and her gorgeous layered pins, etc. So, I punched 3 of the 2 inch circles (the top one being stamped already). Then I glued them together with tombow (green) glue. I did the same with the N,S,E,W compass....I cut them out by hand, gluing 4 of them together. After coloring, I added crystal effects. The Antique Brad is just sitting in the crystal effects (I cut the prongs off). Tash did this card for me...Blackberry Bliss and gold are gorgeous together. She colored some pearls with a gold sharpie for accent, embossed the compass in gold and added a circle of Gold Foil. Background is the World Traveler Texture folder. She sponged it after embossing it. This one is done with Lost Lagoon/Gold/Black...a touch of vellum. Some stars punched with our Confetti Stars Border punch. Did you think of this set as a Valentine's Card, incredible. Can you see, we colored the N. American continent with the Wink of Stella pen to add some shimmer. Tash did this one too...Designer paper from Going Places Stack...you don't want to miss out on this one. Can you see the star is 3-D. After die-cutting the star, first with the smaller one, then the larger one, you score at each point and valley, then just giving them a pinch (mountain at the point and valley at the valley). Right now Stampin'Up Australia has some great options for making Masculine cards. In particular I've been making cards with a travel theme as we currently have some great travel and adventure offerings. The "Sky is the Limit" stamp set is one of our free Sale-A-Bration products (so available with a $90 order) this year, and the other items used in this card are part of the "Going Global" suite in our current Occasions catalogue. I love the aeroplane in the "Sky is the Limit" stamp set... it is actually really useful and looks awesome combined with the other travel items. Don't forget that my Online Store is open 24 hours a day... you can shop for any Stampin'Up products right here! And if you'd like to see even more of my creations and ideas, please pop over to my Facebook business page and "Like" it to stay in touch. Enjoy! x
Sale-a-bration just got so much more interesting! If you haven't yet received your free 'The sky is the limit' stamp set then you only have a few more days to order it before it's gone forever! Stampin' Up! are introducing 3 new saleabration items from Feb 16th so if you want this bi-plane set hurry hurry and place your orders with me! I CASE'd this card from Julie Gearinger. I loved her 'gold' version and the design layout too. I've used some neutral, almost military tones on this card. I think the strips of lost lagoon and DSP have a nice lifting touch to help you focus on the diagonal panel and of course the cute aeroplane. Try making this card! Today is my son's 22nd birthday. As I was getting ready for work this morning staring at my reflection in the mirror, I had to pause and remind my aging face that I have a 22 year old child. Hence, the fine lines and wrinkles. My goodness, it seems like yesterday when I was a very anxious mom- to-be awaiting for my firstborn's birth and then here I am. Time surely is one of those things in life we can't see but we can definitely feel. I have this photo of him from when he was in kindergarten on our fridge. And sometimes I still catch myself thinking of him as that little boy who first discovered that he liked to dance. He's been dancing ever since. Recently, his passion for dance has taken him to different places and so in honor of his birthday I would like to share this card created with the Traveler and Going Global stamp sets and World Map background stamp. Well, that is all I have for today. It's going to be a very busy week. Thank you for stopping by.

The Creation Station Design and Blog Hop is back this month! I was beyond thrilled to be asked to join this group of talented women for a monthly blog hop to inspire you with creative top of the line projects with a theme from all around the globe! We hope that you hop thru each blog and leave comments as we all love to hear praise about our creations! This month we were to cover a masculine theme for a birthday, thank you or sympathy using the Going Global Suite or the In the Meadow Stamp set with Kraft cardstock. Well how about a Graduation theme with Going Global Suite and Kraft cardstock? I thought it would fit and it also fits my need for graduation cards and gift card packaging. You see I have a high school graduate in my house this year!!! I am stocking up on tissue boxes already! Hang on to your seat and stay a bit....lots to see on this post! Here is my first double giftcard holder. It is seriously so easy to make with just a few items! The greeting comes from the Beautiful Ride Stamp set. It opens up to reveal two giftcards. It is a single 6" x 6" piece from the Global Places DSP stack. Score vertical at 3" and horizontal at 2". Cut a V slit at the bottom as shown in the picture. Add Tear and Tape Adhesive just on the inside bottom pieces. This creates the pockets to hold the gift cards in place. The next gift card holder is for a single gift card. I love the shaker element on this one! Can you see the Going Global Stamp set map image in there? I used the Metallic Sequins Assortment on the inside. To create this one, take a piece of the 6" x 6" Going Places DSP Stack and cut down to 6" x 4 1/2". Then score vertical at 3". Add some Tear and Tape Adhesive on one side. Then use a circle punch to make the half hole on one side. Pretty simple and easy too! And I then created some cards....This one uses the Kraft cardstock, the Going Places DSP Stack, the Going Global Stamp set, lots of circle punches! I loved using the Washi Tape Punch on all of projects. I am sad to say that it is sold out completely, but you can just cut a rectangle instead. If you want to make that Graduation cap with punches, just search it on Pinterest. I could not believe how easy to make! To create this graduation cap card, I made a tassel out of the Baker's Twine Combo Pack with the Mint Macaron/Basic Black. The background DSP is the Going Places DSP Stack. Here is a tip: Use the longest clear block to wrap the baker's twine around for the tassel length. I just looked up on Pinterest how to make them. Again, so simple! And lastly, one more special card for my Megan. Love this car in the Beautiful Ride Stamp set! It fits her well as she has her very own Beetle! I pulled some threads of that same Mint Macaron Baker's Twine and wrapped them around the stamped luggage. The journey begins for her.....let me go grab a tissue. Thanks for stopping by my post for the Creations Station Blog Hop! Inspire. Create. Share. That's what I love to do. Welcome to more SNEAK PEEKS from the 2106 Occasions Catalogue! For the next few days I will be posting a few items made using the "Going Places DSP Stack" and the "Going Global" Stamp set found on page 39 of the upcoming Occasions Catalogue. (not sold as a bundle) This first photo shows everything at once. I had decided this time to create something with the leftovers from each card I created. I opted to go for creating my own pocket scrapbooking cards with the scraps. This first card I made, I also ended up with two 3 x 4 pocket scrapbooking cards and an embellishment. I hadn't decided whether to put it on the second scrapbooking card, or leave it as is to deal with later. I chose the latter as I can always put it on the card when I'm actually scrapbooking should I choose to do so. Let's have a closer look at the first card. So next you see just the card. You'll notice that I decided to go with faux stitching again. Been doing that a lot lately. Something old can become something new when you haven't used it for a while. Lol! Here, in the next photo, you can see that part of the card more closely. I created a small tag from the Ornate Tag Topper Punch by trimming down each side of the tag and rounding the bottom corners. I stamped the sentiment in Archival Basic Black and then with a Q-Tip pulled off the ink on the tiny heart and used my Lost Lagoon Stampin' Write Marker on it. I also stamped the sentiment again, onto a scrap of Lost Lagoon, and fussy cut the banner out while popping it up over the sentiment of the tag. Today I decided to post a side view photo form each side. For the inside, I off stamped/second stamped the globe on the bottom right corner, and punched out another sentiment stamped on a scrap piece with the Washi Punch. I plan to use the "Going Places" & "Going Global" in my scrapbooking, BUT I would also like to create some cards using just the stamp set "Going Global" and the "World Traveler Embossing Folder" once I get it. Thank you for stopping by in your busy Christmas schedule to have a peek. Everything I used you will find below, with the exception of the new 2016 Occasions Catalogue items.
