Today's Create With Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop theme is Glitz & Glam, featuring metallic embossing, gold leafing, DSP with metallic accents, foil, or glimmer paper. I think I got all but the glimmer paper on here, and since shiny is right up my alley, this was a fun card to make! I started with the absolutely gorgeous Expressions in Ink Specialty DSP and used the colors to inspire the die cuts. Yes, there are two of the leafy branch... one in gold and one in Bermuda Bay. I sponged some Bermuda Bay ink on the die cut to darken it a bit so it would stand out more. The gold stripe down the left side of the card was created with a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive covered with Gilded Leafing. Have you used that stuff yet? It is feather-light and fun to work with, but I find myself holding my breath so I don't blow it all over the place! And then wondering why I'm getting dizzy, LOL. After pressing the leafing on the adhesive, I used a piece of Stamping Sponge (retired) to carefully brush off the excess, leaving that beautiful gold stripe. To complete the card, the 'Happy Birthday' was heat embossed in gold and a gold cord bow was added. (Since the Artistically Inked stamp set was back ordered when I made this card, I used the greeting from Sweet As A Peach.) That's my share for today. Like tinsel added as a finishing touch on a Christmas tree, this curved triangular shawl will add that oh-so-awesome touch of glitz and glam to any outfit. Knit this shawl from the top center, with three sets of increases to fan out the shape into a semi-circle. The two side eyelet increase sets are then shifted to the edges when the lace pattern is started, creating the final curved triangular shape that allows this shawl to cascade quite elegantly at the tapered ends. The lace pattern is a fairly simple, and very open, stitch pattern that complements the beauty of the glimmery silver yarn. Shown in Rowan Kidsilk Haze Eclipse. Other suitable yarns (not all with the shimmery metallic thread though) listed. Errata fixed 6/28/18: P. 5 LEFT LACE Row 3 should say “K2tog, k1, yo, k1, yo, k3” at the beginning. Chart is correct as is. Errata fixed 3/10/17: P.5 bottom, Row 16 should say kfb, p to marker. P. 6 top, Row 1: extra k1’s after first pmB and before 2nd pmB should be deleted.
