Ithaca-based, Istanbul-born illustrator Gizem Vural is known for her abstraction and expression throughout her personal work, such as _Lonely Night_, _A Busy Morning_ and _Anxiety_, in which she demonstrates her flair at its most vibrantly coloured and intense. From time to time she subverts expectation, juxtaposing vivid colour with sketchy and gradated tones of black, grey and white, further imbuing her pieces with emotion.

We wrote about Ithaca-based, Istanbul-born illustrator Gizem Vural back in August, when we found ourselves thoroughly impressed by her expressive, vibrantly coloured work for _The New Yorker_, _Nautilius_ and _The Boston Globe_. Eight months later, we got back in touch to find out what Gizem did next.
