Tons of superhero party games to make your kids superhero birthday party AWESOME!
Okay my 8 year old son is crazy about NINJAGO anything. So as you can see that is what he picked for the theme of his party. Thank goodness for the web,. There is not a ton of places sell Ninjago party stuff, so I had to rely on pinterest and other sources to make my own. I just typed in "free Ninjago printable s" on BING and all sorts of pictures pulled up. (including coloring pages that kept my kids busy while I did all this). These are the three main ones I used. You can buy personalized invites on Etsy but I am way too cheep for that. So I just saved these pictures to my Photoshop and then sent them to Costco in the sizes I wanted which was way inexpensive 13 cents each 4x6 and the quality was really good. This is the picture I used for the invites. I printed out the party information with this cool Asian font "Japonesa" from DaFont.com I got all the info from Jaimee at Craft, Interrupted.com The invitation really set the mood for the party and tells people what your kids is interested at that time for gift ideas. These were so easy and inexpensive. I got wallet sized pictures of these(above) and put them on red bags from the dollar store. I used this picture (below) for the eyes on the balloons. Cut along where the yellow and red then taped to the different color balloons. I got a TON of ideas for this awesome mommy she was super creative and very helpful and even gives a few printable of her own, that I know took some time. Like this one below for cup cake toppers SO CUTE!!! Be sure to check out her site it really is AWESOME! Again it is http://www.craftinterrupted.com/ (This printable is from her site so be sure to go check it out.) Here are some fun games we played. I tried to use what I had around the house. These are Pringles cans covered in paper and we topped with balloons and the kids had to use their ninja stars to hit them off. I made so many origami Shurkins (ninja stars) and then spray painted them silver. This was a huge hit! We used darts to hit the balloons it was so fun and it got harder as more got hit. I used red plates and silver table cloths. I made these swords out of paint sticks yes! people paint stir sticks!! we painted them silver then used electrical tape for the handle made it a little thicker at the top and bottom. The kids had some serious sword fights with these and they didn't hurt anything or anyone. I use Juice boxes from Costco covered them in paper and added some of Jaime's (craftinterrupted.com) cute little circle printables to them. Easy peasy!! Here is the set up..Don't laugh at the cake. I am not a baker by all means. I had no idea that it didn't matter how much RED food coloring you put in your frosting it wont be a deep red! I learned so this cake was a little more bright reddish/pink. Here are our little ninjas! For the headbands I just used muslin I had on hand and cut them into strips. Each kids got a gift bag, a ninja balloon, sword and ninja star to take home. Thanks for visiting!!

Modern technology has changed our lives in both good and bad ways. It has simplified the access to many sources for all sorts of information. However, we may not even notice when technology starts changing our relationships, our friendships, the communication between people, and our general well-being. Are our laptops, TVs, smartphones, and video games really an adequate replacement for family and friends? Maybe it’s time for all of us to think about this before it’s too late.
Are these parenting tips still relevant? First printed in the Ann Landers advice column decades ago, do they still apply to modern families?

Many months ago, (back when we were planning our "Daughter of a King" YWIE) my presidency and I stumbled upon these paintings/prints of women from the scriptures. The paintings are so beautiful that we wanted an evening that focused just on these women from the scriptures. ~PROGRAM~ "Women of Value:The Treasures Within" New Beginnings theme was born. We decided that we would write a program that focused on the 8 different YW values and then tell the story about each of these women. That was easier said than done. I started writing the program and a writer I am not!! So after only writing the story of Hannah for the value of FAITH (4 hours=4 paragraphs)...I gave up!! My second counselor, the LOVELY and WELL VERSED Jamie Peiper, volunteered to finish it for me. She did an AMAZING job writing a program. With the permission of Jamie, I've attached the program for anyone else who'd like to use these paintings for their New Beginnings or YWIE. Thought we'd try to save others some time. She did such a wonderful job on it, that it really should be used again. I began the program by talking about "earthly treasures" vs "spiritual treasures." When we gain a testimony of each value, we are literally laying up our treasures in heaven. We then had one YW read the story for each value. (so 8 YW participate) It was FAB-U-LOUS! CLICK HERE to download a copy of the program ~DECORATIONS~ We kept it simple...YES that's right...I did my best to keep it simple!! We really wanted to art to be the focus of the evening. So here is a look. We framed all the prints in large frames borrowed from our YW leaders. Then in a smaller black frame labeled each picture with the name of the value & the name of the women. We bought fresh flowers in each value color and put them in a vase next to the pictures. We gave these flowers to the 11 yr. old that will be advancing into YW this year when we recognized them. In the center of it all, we framed a beautiful picture of the temple. I found this site where you can download and print these photos of various temples. Thank you to Mindy Evans Photography for providing this phenomenal photos to all of us who are always online looking for them :) you know you can never have too many pics of the temple when you serve in YW. ~PROGRAMS~ ~DESSERT~ we served homemade cheesecake and had 8 different sauces for people to top the cheesecake with. One sauce in each value color, of course. Our toppings we used wereFaith: White ChocolateDivine Nature: Blueberry syrupIndividual Worth: Strawberry SyrupKnowledge: KiwiChoice & Accountability: PeachGood Works: PineappleIntegrity: Blackberries Virtue: Butterscotch ~HANDOUTS~ We made a small box for each YW to take home with her. We filled it with choc. treasures. 8 in each box. One wrapped in each of the value colors and labeled with the value sticker. So, so, so cute!! And CHEAP!! Less that $1 a girl. Plus, the girls always love it when the handout has something to do with food. Good Luck to all who haven't yet done their New Beginnings program. Hope this helps someone!!
If you are looking for an event that will entertain Kindergardeners all the way up to adults, then I would recommend trying a photo scavenger hunt. Today I will share with you one of the themed photo hunts I have put on with my troop and service unit. Is a photo hunt not enough for your group? I know for my troop they wanted more so we added games, songs and craft to the event. Take the photo hunt ideas from this post, then navigate over to the Super Hero Party Ideas post to keep generating a amazing party for your troop. How to Dress for the Occasion You can have your girls come dressed as their favorite super hero. Then when they arrive have them make their very own super hero masks to wear during event or to take home with them. Superhero Masks Craft Kits. After everyone was dressed and ready to go split the girls up into groups of 5 to 8 per team and try to keep them in the same age bracket. Give each group a list of pictures they have to take. Tell them to work as a group to take as many as they can in a set amount of time. After the girls complete taking the pictures you could order pizza and play a few group games with the girls while a few of the adults go to develop the pictures. If you don’t plan to develop the pictures you could also show them on a TV for everyone to view. Super Hero Scavenger Hunt For Your Troop Your mission if you choose to accept it is to walk around the park and beach with your super hero masks on and armed with your groups camera to capture the following heroic acts. The team with the most points will earn the title of being the most heroic group of superheroes. What I did was created a close up hunt to go with photos above. You will need to create your own, but below is example of what I did. You will give each team a copy of the hunt. The team has to find the picture location and take a picture as a group next to or on that location. Here's how notable figures of the past might look if they lived today.
Okay, so I did plan one game for the kids over spring break. I've always brought out a basket of plastic eggs as part of our Easter decorations - the kids always find fun things to do with them for a couple of weeks, then they go away until next spring. This year, they were purposed! I originally saw the idea on Kirsten's blog and saved it in my things-to-do-someday file. I've been trying to do more auditory sensory activities lately with Clark, so it was a good time to try it out. I filled the eggs with little things found around the house and labeled each one with a number. The kids had to shake each egg and guess what could be inside. Some were deceptively similar! It was pleasantly surprising to see all three kids get in on the action. Not making a big deal about it seems to be the key to getting everyone involved. Here's a copy of the game sheet - it's labeled with things that should be easy to find around the house. Personal use only, please! Download What Do You Hear? game sheet here.
