This is my first page working with the new Webster's Pages 'Western Romance' Collection!! I got my design team package last week in the mail and was just giddy pulling out all the beautiful products that have just come out! Yep! new cameo's (Silhouettes), GORGEOUS laces and trims! Soft and pretty bloomers and the cutest cameo pins! If you like collection packs you are going to LOVE these new ones that Brandin has put together, this time around she has put in 2 of every patterned paper, 1 Die Cut paper (the one in the photo above is from the Western Romance collection), the alpha stickers (my Favourite scripted font!!), a sampling of the new WP Bling!, 2 x 12" strips of Bloomers, and some coordinating Fabric tickets!) I think these collection packs are a great bargin and give you a taste of so many of the pretty things Websters Pages makes. I made this page up for my oldest daughter Chloe, she recently turned 13 and although I don't like to put a lot of emphasis on 'outward' beauty when dealing with my children, I had to make up this page because as I was looking at these pic's I recently took of her, it dawned on me how Chloe doesn't follow the trend of so many of her classmates in wearing heavy eyeshadow and liner, dark lipstick and a lot of makeup.....yep, so many of the 13 year olds I'm seeing are just over the top with trying to look older. I'm grateful that Chloe is happy to just put on a little lip balm and off she goes. The emphasis of the title is not so much the 'beauty' but the 'natural' part. To me her beauty comes from her inner self, the kindness she shows to others and how she applies herself to her schooling and studies. Supplies used on this page: Webster's Pages papers (Western Romance Collection), WP alphas, WP Silhouettes, WP Bloomers, WP Trim (gold lace along bottom edge and gathered to make bloom in top right corner), Dusty Attic Chipboard (circle frame), Baroque corners (framing the cameo piece), cardstock. Here are a few close-ups... I have one more project to share with you and that is a card I made for a very special little girl. Olivia is a little girl who would be starting kindergarten in a few days but is presently in the hospital undergoing surgery for a brain tumor in a very critical part of her brain. Her family has asked if we would be kind enough to send her some cards to cheer her up. Here is a link to her story Olivia Here is the card I made for her and will be sending off in the morning... If you would like to join in and send this sweet child a card you can send it to this address: Cards For Olivia c/o Stacy Rodriguez 3122 9 1/2 Street Rock Island, Illinois 61201 Thanks for stopping by! And a big thank-you for all the kind comments, I love to hear your feed back on the work I share!

First off I thought I would share a couple of projects I recently made with a couple of the yummy new Webster's Pages Collections. The above layout I made with the All About Me collection. I think this collection is so fresh and pretty. I found this old photo of my younger sister when she was little and know I just had to scrap it with this collection. The two of us are only a little over a year apart and are not just sisters but best friends. I thought I would make this page as a special gift for her. I used a variety of the All About Me patterned papers, the matching die cut paper (I cut out the edges of the die cut paper for this layout ....I was inspired by a page by Robin Shakoor), WP Sparklers, WP Bloomers, WP Fabric Tickets and Journaling Cards as well as Whimsies and Cameo Push Pins. Here are a couple of close-ups of my layout... I provided links to all the Websters products I used to make up this page so that if anyone would like to order it you can do it directly from the WP site! (Not all of us are lucky enough to have scrapstores near our homes :) I also have another little project to share, a little card I made using the Western Romance collection. I made this card for my project that was inspired by our featured Guest Designer this month Stacey Young. Her work is so beautiful and I love the way she used kitchen twine on dt work! And now I'd like to share with you all a special new project that Brandin has been working on for sometime now called My NovelTree! When I first saw this sweet daffodil paper from the Maja 'Vintage Spring Basics' collection I just knew I had to scrap this photo I took of my youngest daughter a couple of years ago. There is a little forest we walk in, close to our home and come Spring there are huge patches of daffodils growing in it. Meagan always keeps an eye out, just waiting for them to bloom so she can pick a little bouquet for her room. For this layout I played a little with some mixed media. I did a little bit of masking with some texture paste and did a little stamping and dry brushing as well with some coordinating paints. I wanted to do a little bit of misting first but didn't have the right color, so I used some Dusty Attic paint in a 'Bisque' color that I thought nicely complimented the yellows in the background paper. I then adhered my photo to the page and dry-brushed a little more paint over the edges of my photo to kind of fade it into the background. The next layer I added is some random stamping. I used text stamp from Bo Bunny and another ledger stamp from 7 Gypsies. The final layer I added was a texture paste design in random places around the photo and in one corner of my page where I would add some extra accents. I finished things off with some adhesive pearls by Recollections. I wanted to use some natural/neutral accents on the page as well, so I used a whole bunch of goodies from the My Little Yellow Bicycle 'Naturals' collection. I used the smaller of the Cork Tags, as well as the Wood Buttons (Etched), the Tiny Clothspins (words), and the Cork Alphas. I just love these embellishments, they can fit in with any color layout. NOTE: Just a little FYI! My Little Yellow Bicycle Store is selling everything in it at 25% off till the end of June, you just use this code MYLYB50, so get while the gettin's good! You can find the store HERE I didn't have any yellow blooms in my stash so I made my own flowers using some yellow felt I had in my supplies. These are so easy-peasy to make! You can find the tutorial on how to make these in the right side panel of my blog under my tutorials. Supplies: Patterned Paper - Vintage Spring Basics (1st of March, 8th of March-bs, 7th of April, 6th of May), Blooms - handmade (tutorial at Such a Pretty Mess blog), Cork Tag, Cork Alpha's, Natural Wood Buttons, Clothspeg (My Little Yellow Bicycle), Chipboard - Dusty Attic Designs (Small Scroll), Paint - Dusty Attic, Bird Trinket - Prima Marketing, Stamps - Bo Bunny Background Stamps, 7 Gypsies, Websters Pages Diamond Tag Stamp, Texture Paste - home-made (Recipe can be found at Such a Pretty Mess blog), Other: Lace trim (off the roll), Mask: from Michaels (Americana). I just love that you can scrap so many color combinations with this paper collection! I've done layouts in blue, pink, lilac, yellow and taupe with this collection. Have you tried it yet?

For me, my favorite Spring products are the beautiful botanicals/florals in the Websters Pages patterned papers. I have to admit I always feel a little thrill when I know that Brandin O'Neill is at the drawing board working on a new collection. One thing I know is that there will always be gorgeous floral's in the collection papers, designs that are perfect for fussy cutting and embellishing with. For me, that collection this time around was 'Growing Up Girl'....I actually used 7 papers for this page! It's been a super snowy and cold winter here in Canada this year so I am really looking forward to Spring! So I wanted this layout to be all about the warmth and happiness of Spring. It's a time to get back into shape, get outdoors, exercise and just breathe! ....I did lots of fussy cutting of the many beautiful floral images in the patterned papers. It was March break here in Canada, the kids are off school so when I sat down one night (watching Elementary on TV) and began cutting out images from the 'Embrace Life' and 'Make a Wish' papers, my daughter Chloe couldn't resist picking up a pair of scissors and joining me in clipping out all the pretty designs. Chloe's favorite was that little pink and white butterfly (above). I love the freshness polka dots add to a Spring layout, so I used the dotted side of the 'See the World' paper, tearing of little snippits of the paper and used it as a edger for my page design. I just love that big large cabbage rose image as well, with thelittle green/white/rose color hydrangeas! I'm trying to get myself to journal a little more on my pages. So for this page I just handwrote a few key ideas on one of the patterned papers, matted with the pink paper and stacked the words. (the locket is another sweet image I cut out from the patterned papers). The love arrow is a new design from Dusty Attic Designs (as is the swirly vine design beside it). The flower is a random loose bloom I had lying around in my stash from an old Recollections pack, and the twine is from a Websters Pages 'Quick Pix' packet. The cute li'l light bulb design is a paper clip from the 'Sprinkled with Love ' collection from Websters Pages. Websters Pages Supplies used on this project: Patterned Paper: Growing Up Girl (Embrace Life-both sides, Make a Wish, See the World, Express Yourself, Honor Yourself, Dress to Impress, Live Out Loud-background paper) Embellishments: Sprinkled with Love (Light bulb Paperclips) Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today, I really appreciated all the lovely feedback!

I'm just crazy about the new Bo Bunny 'Ambrosia' collection! So many beautiful florals and flourishes in this one! Today the Bo Bunny DT girls were asked to create a page using the Noteworthy pieces. I used a piece of Noteworthy die-cut pieces to frame one of my photos. ....My youngest is up at my brothers place the last few days (during the March break) visiting her cousin, and I was getting all sappy looking at older pic's of 'my baby', so I just had to scrap these pic's. Here are some close-up's of the page... Don't ya just love those Trinkets?! I used some from the Ambrosia collection and one from the Smoochable collection. I also used some of the cute new corner flourishes from Dusty Attic on this page as well. Supplies used: ~Patterned Paper; Ambrosia (Ambrosia Dot, Pansies) ~Cardstock; Tutu Dot ~Noteworthy; Ambrosia ~Combo Stickers; Ambrosia ~Jewels; Ambrosia ~Trinkets; Ambrosia and Smoochable ~Chipboard Flourishes: Dusty Attic ~Film Strip: Tim Holtz ~Blooms: Recollections ~Pink Stickles ~Lace (by the yard from Fabric Store) NOTE: Stay tuned today for another blog post! Dusty Attic is doing a blog hop and I've got another fun project to share with you using a bunch of the newest Dusty Attic pieces (there will also be amazing prizes to be had....see you at 11:00 am! xx

I thought I would share a tutorial for a flower I've used on my layouts over this past year. I've shared some information on how to make water distressed blooms but I've gotten emails over this past year saying that some of you don't have the flowers turn out the same as mine. So I thought it would be best to actually show you each step in a video. I also thought I would share a little tip with you all on an awesome adhesive I've found that works really well for adhering flowers and embellishments to your projects. Glue Arts 1/2" adhesive squares...super strong! I used the Websters Pages Western Romance collection to make up the above page. I love that buttery yellow colour in the paper and bloomers! Here are some close-up pic's of the layout and the blooms I'm going to show you how to make.... Just click on the video clip below and watch how quickly and easily these blooms come together... I hope this video will help you all in tweaking those blooms to get them to look the way you want them to! ....This week the Websters Pages design team and the Glue Arts design team have teamed up together to present some exciting and beautiful projects. So be sure to check out the Websters Pages Blog and the Glue Arts Blog throughout the week to be inspired! Thanks for stopping by, ...and let me know how your blooms come out!
Websters Pages was doing a match-up with Glue Arts this week so our design team was delighted to recieve some Glue Art products to use on...
I'm just in the middle of a kitchen renovation, but I took a little break to play with my Websters Pages goodies. I thought it would be fun to play with tags so I made up a tag and did a little step by step that has been posted over at the Websters Pages Blog if you'd like to have a look. I then used the tag as an embellishment on a layout. For the above layout I used the die cut sheet from the Western Romance collection. I trimmed off a few inches of the left side of the page and moved it to the right side to create the tabs for my corset lacing design. Just add eyelets and lace-up. Here are a few close-ups of the page.... I used the Websters Pages Silhouettes (Cameo) to dress up the tag, along with some of the beautiful trims that go with the Winter Fairytale collection (lace & feather trim). The Cameo is mounted on one of the wonderful new Cameo Sliders by Dusty Attic. The blooms are from Michaels Craft Store from their store brand blooms. The pearl strand I bought off the roll from a local fabric store. The corner chip board embellishment is another piece from Dusty Attic from the Sweet Pea frame collection (below) If you'd like to check out my little step by step on how to make the tag and see what beautiful FREEBIE Websters Pages is giving out (shown below) be sure to check out this link Websters Pages Blog

Here is my 3rd layout that I made for the Scrap That May Anniversary kit. As I mentioned in my post a couple of days ago, this kit had a really fun crafting item in it....some polymer clay. Since I've already shared a clay tile tutorial here at my blog, as well as an embellishment tutorial (see right side of blog) I thought I would do something a little bit different. I decided to use the piece of clay to make a bloom embellishment. (see below). The kit also came with a Special Edition Palette and Sketch from our favourite color site 'The Color Room!!" Here below is the palette as well as the sketch....and of course my l/o above was my take on this Palette & Sketch. Here are a few close-ups of my page. I found the perfect quote for my page on Pinterest! Have I said how much I love that site....I'm sooo addicted! (you can check out my pins by clicking the Pinterest badge on the right side of this blog) The journaling on my page reads... "If I could give you one thing in life, I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes, only then would you realize how special you are to me." And here is a little picture tutorial on the Gardenia bloom I made for this page from Polymer Clay... Step 1: Soften clay by kneading it in the palm of your hand for a few seconds. Make 3 small stamen's for the center of your blooms. Step: 2: Put the 3 stamen pieces together and set aside. Step 3: Divide the rest of your ball of clay into 6 pieces Step 4: Take one of your clay balls and create a triangular petal. The shape does not have to be perfect, a rough, uneven edge is just fine (even preferred!). (Make 6 of these) Step 5: Pinch the bottom of the triangle to create a little pleat and lightly ruffle the top edge of the petal. Step 6: Attach 3 of the six petals evenly around the stamen you made. Then attach the other 3 behind the other three offsetting them from the other petals. Step 7: You will be left with a clump of extra clay behind the bloom you made. Clip this off with a pair of scissors. (Note: you can use the left over bit of clay to make 3 leaves for behind your bloom, or you can use the leaves included in the kit for behind your flower) Now You will bake your clay piece in a 270 degree Fahrenheit oven for 15 minutes. (I like to use a disposable foil tray to bake my Polymer clay since clay is toxic and should not be used on appliances you normally cook/bake with. Step 8: When you pull your clay piece from the oven it may still feel slightly flexible but it will harden as it cools. Now you can paint your piece to your liking....or you can do as I did here and use some Perfect Pearls or Pearlex (mica powder) to tint up your piece. Just take a paint brush and start from the center of your bloom, dust the pearl powder outwards so that it fades out. I used a pink color for the petals and a yellow/inca gold for the stamens. I used regular green acrylic craft paint for the leaves. (Give your piece a light spray of sealant to protect the finish.....or you can do as I did and use a light spritz of hair spray to protect the piece). Now you can use your finished piece on your layout or home decor project. Here is a close-up of the piece on my layout. Hope you give this a try! Note: You can use any type of Polymer clay for this project, Sculpey, Fimo or even your craft store name brand, I've tried them all and they work equally well. For more idea's from the Scrap That design team and a place to share your own creations be sure to check out Scrap That's Polymer Clay Challenge this month! HERE ...Thanks for stopping by!!
So today I want to talk with you about friends! I've made many many online friends over the years, and so many in the scrapbook industry, girls on my design teams, friends on FB, my Youtube subscribers, blog followers and more. I get lots of emails with questions, kind words on my work and some of you are even so kind as to send me sweet gifts! On today's layout I used a package of Prima blooms that were sent to me from one of my sweet friends, Kimberly (from Hawaii), thanks so much Kimberly for your thoughtful gift, the blooms were a perfect match to the Maja papers I'm using today!! So, in the spirit of friendship, I thought I would also make my page about friends as well. This is a pic I took of my 2 daughters with my oldest daughters BFF. They have been friends since they were about 3 years old and are still going strong. For this page I used the cool pinks and deep plum/wine color papers from the NEW Maja Design Limited Edition 'Nyhavn' collection....with a couple bits and pieces of some of the other Maja collections as well. I love that this collection lends itself to so many different looks! I used 'Veteran Ships' the deep plum/rose color paper as matting for my background paper which is 'Strolling Along the Canal'. I did a little inking with Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet distress ink and a little stamping with a Martha Stewart Butterfly stamp and some Bo Bunny 'Distress Textures' and 'It Is Written' stamps. Here is a close-up of the pretty fabric blooms sent to my by my sweet friend. I used some Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet stain in the centers of these flowers to give them more depth and bring in the rich plum/rose in the background papers. As and extra accent, I fussy cut some pink roses from the No.VI paper from the Vintage Autumn Basics Collection. After inking I added some texture with some of my home made texture paste and a Prima flourish stencil, which incidentally was also a gift from a sweet friend (thanks Janene!). The chipboard pieces are of course, from Dusty Attic, 'Live Beautifully' title, (I just LOVE these new title sets, the script writing adds such a lovely touch to a page), 'Sweet Pea Border' and 'String Frame Set'. I kept the String Frame chippie natural as I wanted it to resemble hemp twine. The Sweet Pea Border I painted white with a dusting of brown chalk ink (Ingvild Bolme) and the title chippie, I inked with more of the TH Victorian Velvet ink....for the 'Live' part I added some 'Diamond' Stickles to make the title pop out from the photo more. I matted my photo with 'Raspberry Cupcake' paper from the Maja 'Coffee In the Arbour' collection. And I matted that with another paper from the Nyhvn collection, the one that looks like weathered wood called 'Sitting At the Dock'. The metal mailbox is a Prima Shabby Chic trinket, and those intricate looking butterfly embellishments are some pieces I pulled out of some of my old stash from years ago. They are Tattered Angels Glimmer Glass. I'd been hoarding those, and then realized, whats the point in having them, if I don't use them! LOL! Dusty Attic Chipboard used in this Project: ~ Live Beautifully Chipboard Title ~ Sweet Pea Border ~ String Frame Set Maja Design Products used in this project: Nyhavn (Strolling Along the Canal, Veteran Ships-bs, Sitting At the Dock), Vintage Autumn Basics (No.VI), Coffee In the Arbor (Raspberry Cupcakes). Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today, and thank-you to all the dear friends that follow my blog and my work, your kind comments are always appreciated, they make my day! xo
This will be my last post for My Creative Scrapbook kit club, I made the decision last month to step down from the DT and make a few changes. It was such a hard decsion to make as I've been designing for MCS for exactly 3 years now. I've grown so close to the girls on the design team and gotten to know so many wonderful people through this experience. Happily I know I will keep in touch with the dear friends I've made through my blog, galleries and other design teams. Thank you to all my dear friends for their kind words and support, they've meant a lot to me. So, moving on, I have to say it was nice to go out working with some of my favourite things, botanicals and butterflies!! I just love Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden collection! The photo above is one I took of my two girls when we were out on a walk a few weeks ago. We've been having strange weather but this was one of those balmy lovely days just cast into the middle of a whole lotta rainy miserable days. I love the butterflies that coordinate with this collection...the transparent layer over the butterfly image is so beautiful in real life. Here are a few close-up pic's of this layout.... I often hear people say how much they like my photo's and how cooperative my girls are about having their photo's taken. But I always say...I take a ton of pic's to get the ones I actually use. Below is a l/o I made to give you a little more accurate idea of how things go when I'm trying to get pic's of my girls..... This was the next shot I got after the one I scrapped above lol! Hence the title 'Real' Sisters. Ah well, they still make me laugh with their silly antics and aside from the odd spat or two they do get along pretty well. I used the Webster's Pages Ladies & Gents collection for this one. This is such a versatile paper collection because it allows for both masculine and feminine style pages. For the little dress forms in the corner I gathered some sheer ribbons to make the skirts and painted the dress forms white. I inked the edges of the dress forms with some brown chalk ink and then put some Stardust Stickles over it to give them some shimmer & shine. The vine I made from some of the loose stemmed blooms, you can find a little demonstration I made up on how to make your own vines HERE. Here is a close-up pic.... Another photo I took on our outing together was this one below of my oldest daughter Chloe. I used the Prima papers (Botanicals collection) mixed with some more of the Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden collection to compliment the soft floral top she was wearing in the photo. It's been a while since I've done the corset lacing design on my layouts (a couple years ago, I used the corset lacing on so many of my l/o's, funny how you move on to different things for a while and then pull out a favourite again!) Although I used a ribbon for my corset lacing, I recommend you use something a little less thick, like string, cording, something finer as trying to get the thick ribbon through the eyelets is not so easy! The button I used in the center of the brown bloom was in the kit, but the center was missing....I guess it had popped out? So I created my own 'jewel' for it by adding a couple of layers of blue 'Waterfall' Stickles, let it dry and then added a nice mound of Tim Holtz Glossy Accents. The finished effect is almost like an opal! Here are some close-ups of the above page.... The frayed bit beside the large bloom is sort of an accident thing lol!....I was fiddling with one of the trims in the kit and it just started unraveling on me before I could tape off the end. So I chopped off the ravelled bit and just stuck it on the page....almost like a little bit of nest :) I really love the pretty botanical design in the PP paper below; The frame around the photo is made from a sheet of lace paper by BasicGrey layered over some simple pink cardstock. The edging around the photo was made with another style of decorative scissors and a white gel pen (Signo Unibal) The tiny white/yellow blooms were made using the EK Success retro flower punch in the mini size. I just inked the centers with some yellow chalk ink and added a liquid pearl drop in the center. Here are a couple of close-up shots of the above page... And finally the last page I made was of me and my girls, my dear husband took this photo of the 3 of us while we were out on our little beach/forest walk. I used more of the beautiful Ladies & Gents collection to make up this page..... The lolipop blooms on this page of course are the Websters Pages Pincess Petals (LOVE these!) and the soft pink blooms are ones I again made using recycled dryer sheets (see some tutorial instructions in the rightside column of my blog)... If I've missed explaining anything I did on these layouts or if you have any product questions don't be shy to ask I'm always happy to answer any questions! :) ....thanks for stopping by again, I'm always happy to hear from my friends here! ~Gabrielle xx
As soon as I got my Websters Pages "Girl Land" goodies in the mail, I just had to dive in head first, the prolbem was deciding which style to go with first! The first page I made is the one you saw on Monday on the bloghop (can't resist me some pink!! lol!) But I have to say I've been so drawn to the vintage images on another of the papers in the collection. I ended up choosing the tag with the violet posies on one of the patterned papers and building the above page around it. Here are a few close-up shots of my page... I snuck a little piece of one of my favorite Dusty Attic pieces on this page, the Chicken Wire Panel. I just added a touch of Platinum Stickles to the chipboard to bling it up a bit. I really love the patterned paper that has all the cute doilies on it as well, I cut one out and mounted it on some pop dots and added one of the WP Perfect Accents (Cameo's) from the 'In Love' collection to the center. I used some Tombow liquid adhesive to attach a strand of pearls around the cameo. (pearls, cameo's, they just go together don't they!!) How to Make the Violet Posies: As a page embellishment, I wanted to imitate the cute bouquet of violets I cut out on from the tag on one of the WP Girl Land papers. I created the above bouquet by first choosing three colors of card stock in a dark, medium and light plum color. I then used the Martha Stewart Hydrangea punch (pictured below) on all three pieces of cardstock. I used mostly the larger of the three punch images (you can use the smaller bits for other parts of the page or put aside for a card). I then used a Colorbox White chalk ink on the edges of the petals, and ran the edge of the inkpad along the center of each petal making it look like a crease. I then turned each of the petals up a little giving it a slight curl. (A stylus works well to curl the petals up). Then adhere to your page working the darkest on the outside to the lightest on the inside. Add a few punched green cardstock leaves on the outer edges to finish it off (again, I used a small Martha Stewart leaf punch for this). I added a dab of lavender liquid pearls to the center of each bloom....done! Have I put this collection aside yet? Nope! I'm working on another page to share with you all near the end of the month when I will be sharing a little peek at my scraproom! Thanks again for popping by and for the sweet comments you all leave, your feedback is always appreciated! (Oh, and BTW...a couple of you have asked...do my girls still dress up with the floral headbands etc.? Not so much anymore, the above pic was taken a couple summers back. My oldest daughter (recently turned 14) for sure not, the youngest one (Meagan, in the photo above, will sometimes still dress up (she's 10)...at the moment we made her an Egyptian crown out of foil and paper mache with jewels, for a project she is doing at school about ancient civilizations. I'll have to get a pick when she dresses up for this and scrap it! :)
