Our Sylvia Edwardian Walking Skirt is an elegant long, linen skirt perfect for Edwardian costume or a modern vintage style skirt. An elegant and feminine skirt which sweeps to the ground, it is typical of the walking skirt styles worn from 1895 to 1908 in the era known as the Belle Epoque or the Gilded Age. Perfect for historical re-enactment, theatre, steampunk or just every day. Made from a lovely quality, medium weight, 100% linen, the skirt features gored panels that skim the hips then flares out with pleating in the back for extra fullness with a sweeper train. The back is approx 4"/10cm longer than the front. The waistband fastens with a button and hooks and eyes, and there's an extra button for a little flexibility. The skirt is trimmed with a double narrow velvet ribbon band in your chosen accent colour. The model is wearing beige. TO ORDER The linen fabric comes in a broad range of lovely colours. Simply choose from the drop down menu and select your ribbon trim colour. Then enter your waist, hip and waist to floor in shoes measurements in to the notes box. We add a smidge of ease to the waist and take an inch off the length to allow the skirt to skim over your toes, but the skirt can comfortably be worn between floor and ankle length if you like to vary your shoes. The linen is washable at 40c and I professionally serge the seams and stiffen the hem with a light crin braid. The skirt is unlined to help keep weight down and to allow it to be worn as a swishy summer skirt. We recommend adding a petticoat for period fullness or winter warmth. As a custom piece this item is professionally handmade at my Lincolnshire, UK studio. I select appropriate toning colours of velvet to best match your chosen options. Please see the delivery section for details of my current schedule, but it is usually around 8 weeks plus shipping time. LISTING IS FOR THE SKIRT ONLY. It does not incude the belt, blouse or any accessories. The Sylvia Walking Skirt is designed to match with either of the Edwardian Bolero Jackets. It is recommended that you order a matching set together to ensure colour batches. You can order the Sylvia Seaside Jacket here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/686115851/edwardian-bolero-jacket-sailor-collar?ref=shop_home_active_7&frs=1 Please note, some photos may show our older style with single ribbon trim.
