Basic kraft boxes and bags can make the prettiest favors when you embellish them with ribbons, tags and a simple die cut paper shape. I love the look of black and white with kraft. I would describe this combination as simple, elegant, natural, modern, organic and rustic. I added paper flower and birds that I created using vintage book pages to my favors. I think that these would make wonderful wedding favors for the diy bride would is looking to add a personal touch to her wedding. The only hard part is figuring out which kraft box or bag to use! Our kraft take-out boxes have just arrived! I wrapped a wide black satin ribbon around the box and tied it at the top without a bow. You can see my tutorial for making paper flower here. I glued a vintage paper flower to small wood clothespin so that I could just clip it onto the ribbon. You can make simple paper tags to attach to the wire hanger on the take-out box. Say "thank you" or if you want to your favors to do double duty, add a guest's name to each tag so everyone will know where to sit. Mod boxes come in lots of sizes and colours ... the kraft ones are my favourite. Similar to the take-out box favor, I wrapped a wide black satin ribbon around the box, tied it at the top without a bow and attached a vintage paper flower on a clothespin. I used a Martha Stewart paper punch to decorate the bottom of a plain white tag and inserted it under the ribbon. Again, you can use the tag to add a thank you message or add a name to double as an escort card. We have an assortment of jewellery boxes available ... these kraft ones are a basic in my packaging supplies. I tied a wide satin black ribbon and a grosgrain black and white stitched ribbon around the box. I attached a bird shape that I die cut from vintage papers to a small clothespin and then clipped it onto a small branch. The branch was woven between the ribbons to give this package an interesting look. You could easily tuck branches with fresh blossoms if you are making these up the day of your event. You've seen me use these kraft bags many times before. They are easy to make and if you looking for a a larger favor that will have a big impact these are perfect! I used a Martha Steward paper edge punch to decorate the top of the bag. You can see my tips for using this punch on this post. I also used a tool called Sew Ribbon that you can see here to punch slots into the bag. Then I sewed a black ribbon through the slots to close the bag ... make sure that you add whatever you are putting into the bags into the bags before adding the ribbon! Another one of my vintage paper flowers that was glued to a small clothespin was added to the ribbon. You can use the clothespin to hang a gift tag or escort card to your bag favor.

Pin It Check out the fabulous Curvy keepsake box. We had a lot of fun. Susan Adams made the turkey box. You can do so many things with these cute little boxes. Our favorite way to embellish them is by cutting the pieces in half on the top so you can open it with out having to take all the cute stuff off. The clips worked great for this. If we put all the ribbon and on the clip it was easy to put back on after you open it. See how we cut our pieces in half. To use 2 different sides, fold your paper like the picture shows. You will need two of them. Cut one of them in half and adhere to the bottom of the one that you didn't cut. S&P Recipe: Curvy Keepsake box Thinlit die (135853)

Bag 'Em Up! {Birthday in a Bag} 19 comments Birthday Bags, Freebies, Popular Posts, Student Gift I've been on Spring Break all week, and I am not going to lie, it has been amazing! I have done my fair share of relaxing, enjoying the weather, working out, and generally having a nice time with my loved ones. I even tackled a few organizational projects at home, namely organizing our closets and my office. In my quest to forever be organized, I stumbled upon some materials/items I've been stockpiling for next year. More specifically, items to be bagged up as student birthday gifts. I was going to save the project for summer, but I figured now is as good a time as any! I know it isn't necessary to give students a gift on their birthday, but it is a nice way to let them know that you care about their special day. And, who knows, for some kids, it might be the only gift they get. Here's a look at what's included in my birthday bags. What's Included A homework pass! I mean, who wouldn't love a night off from homework. If you work with younger kids, be sure to explain how this pass works. The concept is new to many of them. :) A special birthday reward tag. My students absolutely love reward tags. You can read more about reward tags here. And, you can find these specific reward tags here. I also have a black and white set available here. Finally, they get a super fun pencil and a mini container of bubbles. How cute are these pencils I found at Michaels? Thankfully, they have had them for a few years now, but of course, any fun, cute pencil would work here (I've used basic mechanical pencils in the past and they were a hit too). The mini bubbles are from the party aisle at Target. That's it! I live by the philosophy of K.I.S.S. (keep it simple silly). They get a homework pass, a fun pencil, some bubbles, and a new brag tag. The gift is by no means over the top, but the kids are always happy to get their bag of goodies! Click {here} to grab a free copy of the homework pass! How I Wrap Up the Goodies For me, the easiest way to give the students their goodies all at once is to bag 'em all up. It's a birthday in a bag! I simply put the items into a cellophane treat bag and tie them with some curling ribbon. Storing Birthday Bags Throughout the Year I store all of the bags in a storage bin from Target. How do you recognize birthdays in your classroom? Tell us in the comments below! DON'T FORGET IT: PIN IT! Share It:

OK...the last of the 3 birthdays in a row is done! Robbie's 5th birthday party was an astronaut space party...so here is your photo journey! INVITATIONS: the boys each received a box instead of just a card (boxes courtesy of USPS priority) Here was the invitation folder... and invitation. (I used the font "neuropol." Looked so spacey!) Under their invitations, they received their official uniform (I told you I was going to love printable iron-ons) they also got a little "preflight energy food" (starburst) DECORATIONS: Of course I couldnt have had a party without a birthday banner...thanks again cricut! Chinese Lanterns! I had to order more after Jane's party. I kept trying to figure out what would look like planets, and beside paper maiche, silver lanterns were the easy way to go! So, I kept the red ones up, added a ton of silver ones in different sizes and 5 small blue ones with NASA on them. This may have messed up the look of the party, but I really wanted cute cookies on a stick. I will be the first to admit that I am NOT a cookie decorator. So, these were everywhere...maybe not super professional looking...but YUMMY!!! Ill post the recipes I used soon. ACTIVITIES: LEVEL 0: Shuttle Orientation As the kids arrived, I had them color space shuttles that had all the parts labeled. LEVEL 1: Rocket Launch If you have kids, and dont have one of these, I would order one RIGHT NOW! They are So fun, and work really well. The boys at the party loved it, and my daughter played with it the whole next day! (its called the ultra stomp rocket) LEVEL 2: Shuttle Repair The boys wore kitchen gloves and had to screw big nuts and bolts together underwater to give them the feel of big gloves in space! LEVEL 3: Collect Moon Rocks I scattered moon rocks all around the yard (kind of like an egg hunt) and let them search for them and add them to their official moon rock pouch. again, loving iron ons and canvas bags from the craft store. The rocks were quite a process. We started by spraying them green, but they were too transparent, so then we primed them and then put 2 more coats of green. In the end, they were EXACTLY what I was going for and the boys LOVED them! LEVEL 4: Tranquilize Aliens OK, we had to throw this in for the boys. We put these laminated cutouts of aliens on the wall and let the boys use a variety of nerf shooters to get them. (aliens thanks to the cricut...again) LEVEL 5: Antigravity Balance it wouldnt be a space party without a little balancing (jumping) on an air mattress. We let them balance a bouncy ball on a plate as they walked across. And then they basically just played on it! UNIFORMS: Rob wore painters coveralls that worked out great...dont try to iron directly on to it, because it melts! So I ironed the nasa symbol and the "trainer rex" label on to paper and pinned them on. I think the boys loved their shirts. I used the nasa symbol and then added the "astronaut training part" to it. the part they loved the best was their names on the back! Space Ranger ROBBIE! FOOD: Well, what can I say...Nasa waters, Mars Mud, Jupiter Jello, and PLANET PIZZA! I went kind of easy on food! CAKE: I couldnt get the idea out of my head...a hanging moon cake! So, I went to home depot, got some hardware, and then Rob and I worked on it the night before...so here it is! The boys thought it was pretty cool that the CAKE was hanging over the table! We let Robbie blow out the candles while it was still hanging... and Rob even cut all the pieces for the boys while it was still hanging! FAVORS: More iron ons! I personalized the bags just like their shirts. They started with Astronaut Ice Cream, Moon Sand, and water... but by the time the boys left they were stuffed full with moon rock bags, kitchen gloves, nuts and bolts, extra food (for the boys who didnt finish) and of course a space ship cookie. We also presented them with their Certificates of Completion, that told them thank you for coming and being part of our launch crew!
