Gibson released the ES-335 Pro model in 1979, pushing their classic semi-hollow electric in a more rock-oriented direction. A pair of exposed double-black 'Dirty Fingers' humbuckers yield higher output tone with a nice fat midrange response and powerful top end, and the factory stopbar tailpiece adds nice focus and sustain. This particular example was built in 1980 and features a distinctively dark sunburst finish atop a laminated Maple body paired with a 3-piece Maple neck. The bound Rosewood fingerboard has medium jumbo frets with dot inlays. The neck profile has a D/C carve with a taper that resembles many of the late 50s Gibson electric neck profiles. This ES-335 Pro has got to be one of the lighter semi-hollows we've handled from this era. Coming in under 8.5lbs, it's a super comfortable player both seated and standing with a strap. It's setup for smooth, easy playing with low action and freshly dressed frets. Condition: Very Good. This is a clean, all original guitar with original hardware, electronic, and plastics with the exception of the pickup toggle switch tip. There's light to moderate finish checking primarily on the body edges and the back of the body. There's evidence that the guitar was cased up for a long period of time in a humid environment, as there is some clouding and moisture spots in the clearcoat. The neck is clean and free of any major dings, with the frets dressed nicely and still maintaining a fair amount of fret height. Priced with original Gibson hardshell case. Gibson Memphis unveils a new design for the 2019 model release. The ES-235 is inspired both by vintage Electric-Spanish models and the brand’s famous solid bodies. The result is a semi-hollow masterpiece with a single Florentine cut for better fret access, built with spruce bracing around a solid maple centerblock for solid body sustain with hollow body resonance and a minimum of feedback. It’s loaded with a satin nitrocellulose finish, dual Burstbucker Pro humbucking pickups and wired up with a Memphis Tone Circuit Plus (MTC Plus), bringing you incredible looks and hybrid tone to match.
