Lee led a force of 65,000 and met the Union Army commanded by General George G. Meade in a three-day battle. The battle ended after the Confederate charge up Cemetery Hill where General George Pickett lost over half his force of 12,000. This history lesson plan focuses on the Battle of Gettysburg and has a handout exercise for students to study Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.
