Woman, study Condition: very good, as pictured, common aging of the media can be noticed. Dimensions: 28.7 x 19.1 cm. The drawing is baring signature "de Kooning", in the lower margin and verso. The artwork is also stamped on reverse from the previous collection, and has a reference number on verso. The artwork is offered as after the artist, sold as is. I thought I might as well stick to the idea that it's got two eyes, a nose and mouth and neck." This " Bauhaus Archiv " rare vintage 1970 lithograph print custom framed Modernist museum exhibition poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection. The Modernist exhibition poster is published by The Bauhaus Archiv Museum Fur Gestaltung Berlin, printed in Germany in 1970 by Druckerei Hellmich KG in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an artwork image originally created in 1929/30 by the artist Eugen Batz ( 1905 - 1986 ) titled " Farbenseminar Kandinsky, Affinitat Der Farbe Zur Form, Studie Von Eugen Batz, 1929/30 ", from The Exercise For Color Theory to Form course taught by Wassily Kandisnky, 1929 - 1930 at The Bauhaus School. The relationship between color and form occupied the artists and teachers of The Bauhaus School very intensively in the 1920's. The search for the right color as a design and orientation tool runs through the entire history of Bauhaus. The two teachers Johannes Itten and Wassily Kandinsky and the their students developed color schemes and color systems that are still valid today. The Bauhaus movement is one of the most significant cultural developments of The 20th Century. Walter Gropius founded this institute of design in 1919. Several renown architects served as directors of the school, Walter Gropius, Hannes Mayer, and Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe. Famous Bauhaus artists and educators include Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Laslo Moholy Nagy, Josef Albers, and Marcel Breuer among many others. Bauhaus was founded to explore new aesthetic perspectives and creative teaching programs for the education of architects, designers, and artists for a Post War democratic society. Today, The Bauhaus is embedded in the public consciousness, held in high esteem, and considered part of Germany's cultural heritage. The Bauhaus movement hold s a very important place in art history as the original Modernist Art school. The Bauhaus Archiv is a state archive and museum of design located in Berlin Germany. Founded in 1960 by Walter Gropius and other members of The Bauhaus movement. Colleen Darling and I are heading off to France and the Netherlands to take part in the wonderful world of French General's Chateau workshop. I was given the incredible opportunity to teach a fiber workshop in an 18th century chateau near Toulouse, France. But first we will spend a few days in Amsterdam and visit with one of our art buddies from our adventures last year. Hopefully Giova will be available for a little lunch and shopping while we are there. Then off to Toulouse to meet up with the lovely Meng women, Kaari, Molly and their mother Kick. We had so much fun in Oaxaca with them that this will be a fun reunion. We look forward to meeting all the adventurous women who come from all over the world to share a week of creating, dyeing and a bit of shopping! These are some of the little fabric collages that we are calling "Souvenirs of France". Inspired by Mandy Patullo...I made this piece from old vintage quilt pieces... A work in progress....a collage of vintage laces, embroideries, and other odd pieces of fabric. We may have time to make some fiber jewelry too... this one is made from Liberty of London fabrics... and some little necklaces from vintage fabric... Some little house collages for everyone to embellish if they wish... OH! And just before I left on my trip Syd and I had the pleasure of hosting an ART DAY at my home with sisters Carol and Mary Ann Moss, the famous creator of "Dispatch from LA" blogdom! What fun! I gave sweet Carol a rug hooking lesson and she took off and got hooking her bird right away. Mary Ann got into her sketch mode and then water colored her wonderful owl below. That hooked birdie flew home with her to join her rabbit. Super fun to have the Moss sisters in the house! We all had fun visiting and inspiring each other and catching up on everyone's creative activities. Syd got some painting done in her art journal after ice cream and cake. A fun way to end a busy week. Back in about 2 weeks...until then have a creative sun filled June!

Art Fitzpatrick, one half of the team that created some of the most eye-catching advertising artwork for General Motors from 1959 to 1971, passed away this year in Carlsbad, Calif., at age 96. More recently, Mr. Fitzpatrick drew two series of commemorative stamps for the U.S. Postal Service titled "America on the Move," released in 2005 and 2008, according to Automotive News. The first series celebrated 1950s sporty cars, such as the Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Thunderbird and Kaiser Darrin. The second set, "tailfins and chrome," featured such cars as the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado, Chrysler 300C and Lincoln Premiere. Working with his partner, Van Kaufman, Mr. Fitzpatrick drew pictures of Pontiac's "wide track" performance cars that came to define the brand. During the run of "Fitz and Van," as they came to be known, Pontiac ranked third in the industry in sales most years. Mr. Kaufman died in 1995. Fitz and Van worked like this: Mr. Fitzpatrick drew the cars, often making them seem a little wider and a little lower than they already were, while Mr. Kaufman drew the scenery and people. Muscle cars, such as the GTO, were placed in exotic locales, giving them an upscale image. The work was so impressive that Pontiac's general manager at the time, John DeLorean, banned the use of pictures and decreed that only Fitz and Van drawings could be used in Pontiac ads. Mr. Fitzpatrick, who stayed active in retirement, spent most of his life working in the auto industry. He enrolled at the Detroit Society of Arts and Crafts -- today's College for Creative Studies -- in 1936 at just 18 years old. Then, according to a biography on his website, Mr. Fitzpatrick took a job as a designer at Briggs Body Co., where he worked on various projects for Chrysler and the Lincoln Zephyr. He also is credited with designing the 1940 Packard 180 sedan. After World War II, Mercury signed Fitzpatrick to create images for its advertising. About that time, he began working with Mr. Kaufman, a former Disney animator whose specialty was drawing people and places. The pair cranked out advertising images for 14 automakers during their run, creating some of the most iconic ads of the era. But it was the Pontiac ads -- 285 in all -- for which they are best remembered.
