So einfach waren wir früher zufrieden zu stellen: Keine ausgeklügelten Phantasy-Spiele, keine hochmodernen Grafiken – nein, unsere Generation, nämlich die Generation Gameboy, war mit einem simplen, kombinatorischen Spiel zufrieden. Tetris! Wer erinnert sich nicht an die (je nach Level immer schneller) herabfallenden Blöcke, die so übereinander geschichtet werden mussten, dass immer mehrere in einer Reihe landeten. Tetris hatte auch große und kleine Geschwister: Mini-Versionen von Tetris spielte man im Stil von „Vier gewinnt“ auf den ersten Digitaluhren mit zwei Knöpfen, Blockout war dann die dreidimensionale PC-Version der Neunziger. Damals wie heute hat das Spiel nichts von seinem simplen und dennoch anspruchsvollen Charme eingebüßt. Die Tetris-Melodie ist noch immer in aller Ohren und das Blinken und leichte Hüpfen beim Auflösen der Balken ist quasi im genetischen Code der Postmoderne verankert. Mit der Tetris Lampe kann man Tetris nicht nur dreidimensional und haptisch spielen, sondern hat auch noch eine klasse Beleuchtung für die eigenen vier Wände. Die Leuchte im Tetris-Style wird wie das Original-Spiel gestapelt: Basis ist das ans Netzteil angeschlossene blaue Basis-Tetrimino. Darauf stapelt man nun nach Lust und Laune die anderen sechs Elemente, die natürlich verschiedene Formen haben, z.B. T, L oder den Würfel. Bei Berührung mit einem bereits leuchtenden Element erstrahlt auch das platzierte Element farbig. This fascinating subculture was visited only once by Vermont DeadLine in my previous post entitled "And Now For Steampunk Completely Different". It is a new year, and in my humble opinion, it is worth revisiting. These people have taken every day objects and reinvented them into fascinating, [mostly] useful devices and gadgets. To me, the level of work put into creating what really is art, exemplifies Steampunk as a stand on its own genre. Thankfully, the exact recipe for creating anything Steampunk is one of constant improvisation. Using elements such as silver, brass, and copper; and items such as clock gears, old bullet casings, rivets and cogs (just for a start) these artists take you into a fantasy world of their very own. What makes steampunk especially tantalizing is the preferred method of power IS steam. Like what you see?
