The GDR badge “Collective of Socialist Work” .... was a collective award in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). To be awarded the title, the collectives, brigades, departments and otherwise designated teams in business, teaching, art, culture, military, etc. had to meet billable requirements. It was about fulfilling political, cultural and professional demands as well as adhering to socialist morals and ethics. The two-part medal consists of a clasp with a bronze-colored edge and a square pendant. The national emblem of the GDR (hammer, compass and ears of wheat) is applied in the middle. The pendant has the shape of a square and is rounded at the corners. The metal is embossed. Obverse: a red painted grained center field with a hammer and compass is shown. There is an ear of corn on each of the left and right edges. On the back the purposeful inscription “LEARN AND LIVE SOCIALIST WORK”. Material: embossed metal Dimensions: Clasp: 2.7 cm x 1.1 cm / Pendant: 3.2 cm x 3.2 cm The medals may look slightly different than in the photos. The storage box may also vary.
