TOBIO SCARPA FOR TACCHINI The Pigreco chair is the first product designed by Tobia Scarpa, conceived in 1959 as a graduation project at the end of his studies in architecture at the University of Venice. The chair is the result of the designer’s early youthful intuitions. He wanted to create an object that could convey a “sense of space”, representing the concept of dynamism in a product.

KĀNA OBJECTS The Yoishu daybed by designer Inge Lagae in collaboration with textile designer Isabelle Yamamoto. Inge Lagae’s designs are inspired by her traveling the world and the people she has met and worked with. Above all, however, she is amazed and energized by beautiful materials and the handicraft from different cultures, like the French and Italian traditional ebonists and the architects and artists who have crossed her path. In 2020, she met French textile designer Isabelle Yamamoto. Their common love for Japanese culture has led to the collaboration on the Yoishu daybed for the KĀNA collection.
For lovers of pop art we have this interesting piece of studio pottery, a creation from Canadian postmodern ceramic artist Michel (Michael) Harvey (1931-2013). Harvey's studio pottery creations gained popularity in the 1970's when he entered his pop art phase, and began transforming common, everyday objects into intriguing works of art. His works have continued to grow in popularity and value and are sought after by those who favor the avant garde. He created his last new sculpture in the 1980's, so his least common pieces are becoming harder to come by as they find their way into the hands of collectors. Most of Harvey's works were vases, and he created several in the likeness of various t-shirts, boxes, and bags. This particular piece, however, is one of his most rare, with only a handful still available to the public. His Caledonia Brick Tea Pot is one of only a handful of teapot pieces he created, and was named after the classic Caledonia bricks made in Ontario, Canada. This one is in fantastic condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. It has been on display as a collectible only, and has never been used for tea. The exterior has a flat, unglazed finish, and the interior is glazed so that one could use it for tea if one chose to do so. It measures just shy of 12" long, 2.25" wide, and stands 4" tall (4 5/8" to the top of the handle). Thank you for viewing this unusual piece and for visiting BlueWaterVyntage!
