Garvan Woodland Gardens are the botanical garden of the University of Arkansas. They are located on Lake Hamilton, South of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Gardens are a gift from local industrialist and philanthropist Verna Cook Garvin. Anthony Chapel is located on the grounds of the gardens. It is nealy 6 stories tall and compliments the surrounding wooded landscape and offers views of the changing seasons with floor to ceiling glass walls and multiple skylights. Maurice Jennings and Fay Jones designed the chapel. They are the designers of the famous Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, AR, named the 4th best design of the 20th century by the American Institute of Architects. Jennings describes the Anthony Chapel as the finest of the more than 20 chapels he has designed around the country.
