This resource includes 16 four-piece homophone puzzles. Students will match each pair of homophones and place an illustration of each word’s meaning under the word. You can differentiate the activity by cutting away only the pictures and creating three-part puzzles, if you would like. To prolong their use, I recommend laminating these cards or printing them on sturdy cardstock before cutting them apart along the solid lines. You can make this resource self-checking by placing matching colored dots or stickers on the back of the top two puzzle pieces and writing the correctly spelled homophone on the back of each picture. (See the photos.) If you would like a written record of your students’ work, two recording sheet options are also included. The recording sheets ask students to write and sketch two examples from the puzzles set. --- This activity addresses the following Common Core Standards: CCS.2.L.5: Demonstrate understanding of word relationships and nuances in word meanings. CCS.3.L.5: Demonstrate understanding of word relationships and nuances in word meanings. --- You may also be interested in my Homophone Cut and Pastes.
