What are Agamographs? These unique works of art were invented by artist Yaacov Agam, who is known for his "kinetic" creations that involve movement and viewer participation. The final product is a piece of artwork that is folded, like an accordion. Agamographs allow the viewer to see one image when the work is viewed from one angle and a completely different image when the work is viewed from another angle. How do you make these Agamographs? There are various ways to make Agamographs, but I’ve chosen to use the way that is easiest for students. Students will need scissors, glue, and coloring supplies. The templates are provided for you in this packet. All you have to do is print the pages you want, and then help your students through the visual directions. I recommend creating an example ahead of time, and displaying it on your Smartboard, along with the step-by-step, photo directions, which are included. Why are Agamographs useful in teaching Math? First of all, students of all ages like coloring and creating things! Also, this art activity breaks the normal routine, and that’s something that both you and your students will enjoy. Furthermore, you can display the finished Agamographs, and students will feel a sense of pride, and they will gain repeated exposures to the essential concepts being taught! They can’t help but look at them. Lastly, the very nature of a transformational artwork lends itself beautifully to the transformational concepts involved in converting units, simplifying fractions, transforming fractions to decimals, and all the other conversions and transformations that we teach in Math. This set of my unique agamograph printabes includes emoji expressions that students will absolutely love. What's an agamograph? A picture that morphs into another when you look at it from a different angle. It's hard to say but easy to do, and best of all, kids love them! I developed this agamograph activity as a fun and unique way to take an art concept from the art room and integrate it into a classroom. 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝟯 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘃𝗲. It is perfect for classrooms and homeschools. There is a lot of "wow factor" in this activity––the students love the surprise. And best of all, they did it themselves!! I promise that it is easier than it seems... and once you've created one, the next one is a piece of cake! The images have already been "spliced" together and each space has been assigned a color.
