This is one of the coolest French porcelain enamel advertising signs I have ever found - to be honest the price of them and their rarity has shot up usually making buying them quite prohibitive. This is one of those pieces that keeps me getting up at silly o'clock on a Sunday morning, when you find fabulous antique signage like this. It reads in large white lettering on a french blue ground CHOCOLAT LOUIT It is a fabulous example of very early bombe porcelain enamel advertising sign. It is ENORMOUS and is absolutely a statement piece and would look wonderful anywhere, but I can’t help imagining that it would make the mother of all splashbacks. The LOUIT family founded their grocery empire centuries ago back in the mid 1700's and went from strength to strength, becoming the largest grocers in south west France. In fact the founding patriarch was quite the legend and lived to be over 101 years old and died in the early 1800's. The family continued their monopoly until 1945. They started producing their famous chocolate in the mid 1800's. This sign is Circa 1870-1890 Please note the bottom left corner reading ‘EMAIL ALS STRASBOURG’ is not an e-mail reference but the the French for ‘Enamel ALS Strasbourg’. The manufacturer of the sign Condition report The vivid blue of the enamel is still very vibrant, there is some roaching to the enamel, As to be expected of this very early example, it has attained a fabulous patina. Please inspect images. Dimensions 46 1/2" or 118cm width 32" or 81.5cm height .
Napoleon III ormolu and coated bronze three-piece clock garniture. "Amphitrite with Triton". Maison Raingo Frères, Paris, France, circa 1870. Signed in the machinery. Garniture consisting of two candelabra of five lightsmade with stems and with feminine figures, and a watch of golden sphere with numeration in Romans on white background. This one shows a feminine figure in the inferior part, accompanied by a child whose lower extremities take the form of fish tails, detail that is also present in the two men who appear behind and are blowing shells. The subject has been drawn from classical mythology: Amphitrite, represented with a trident and sitting on a shell, was the wife of Poseidon, with whom he had a son, Triton, messenger of the deep sea and characterized by his human torso and fishtail lower half. The two male characters would be members of the sea cortege that used to accompany these gods, and the two ladies in the candelabra would be Nereids, marine nymphs, with their cloths wet on the skin. The house Raingo Frères was established in Paris in 1813, and was specialized in the sale of precision watches during the French Empire and the Restoration. Some models of astronomical watches are known, and they owned several patents. In 1830 they settled on Rue de Touraine number 8 in Paris, and in 1841 the four Raingo brothers, originally known as manufacturers of machinery, added bronzes and other decorations to their catalog. In 1860 they made bronzes for the Emperor Napoleón III and the Empress Eugenia de Montijo. Although at first they specialized in classical art, they were already paying attention to contemporary artists such as Pradier, Carrier-Belleuse and Auguste Moreau, using their works in chandeliers and clocks. In addition, they collaborated with prestigious cabinetmakers such as François Linke. La Maison Raingo participated in the Universal Exhibitions of 1867, 1878 and 1889, awarded in all of them with medals and winning the Gold in 1889. So required were his works that, in some cases, sets were created using the same molds, varying in small details : A garrison is known with the candlesticks decorated with Neptune and Amphitrite and the clock like the one of this game, only that without pavonar and everything in bronze gilded, conserved in an important private collection. It is known as Napoleon III style to a French current that flourished during the Second French Empire (1852-1870) in the years of the reign of this monarch, characterized by the inspiration in the Renaissance for works. Architecturally, it is associated with one of the best known projects of this date, the renovation of Paris by Baron Haussmann." Size: 54 x 24 x 79, candelabra 35 x 23 x 78 cms.
Bonnieux was a fortified village as early as 972 AD. It started off lower down the hill, but inched its way up the slope as events got hairier in the 13th century, and barricaded itself against invaders and attackers with ramparts, which sometimes kept them out and sometimes did not. Now the tourists are the invaders.

French antique magnificent spelter clock with bronze-colored patina from the 19th century. The key to reassemble it is present. This clock derives its originality from its decoration and its triangular shape. Its base rests on two lion's paws in front. A mask is in the center of the base under the dial. This one is in bronze topped with bronze flowers too. On each side a lion's head holds a ring in its mouth. On the base a woman sits on a seat whose feet are in the shape of legs ending in hooves. She holds a mask in one hand. She is elegant, dressed in a long draped dress and wearing a bun. This clock comes from an old house in Burgundy but in its composition it is very Victorian. It works perfectly, it stays on time, chimes every half hour and hour but requires adjustment because it chimes the hours with a delay. For example, at three o'clock it strikes one o'clock and so on... It's a very pretty old piece of decoration, its decorations and its patinated regulator make it really charming. She weighs 4.8 kg Your order leaves the day after your purchase and will be sent to you in a very protected package. For this shipment I need your telephone number to track your package.
