Wouldn't you love having a die for every stamp set image? Who wouldn't! ©Stampin’ Up! I created a Faux Die for the butterfly from the Paper Pumpkin Delicate Wings stamp set and it was so easy.The "die cut" for the butterfly was cut using my Brother ScanNCut and their free software CanvasWorkspace. It is so easy with my tutorial. You can create files to use for all your stamps, each stamp image can be made into a faux die in less than five minutes. There are so many YouTube videos that show how to stamp an image and draw an outline of it, closing in the "opened" lines and cut with your machine. Sometimes you didn't get a perfect scanned image and you have to try again. Stamp ten butterflies and you have to outline and/or close the opened lines for EACH AND EVERY butterfly. With my tutorial, you can create a file, cut ten butterflies, stamp the "die cuts" and you are done! With my Brother ScanNCut tutorial, why have a die where you stand over your die cutting machine, line up the image with the die and crank EACH AND EVERY butterfly. That takes a LONG TIME! And you have the battle of the die slipping over the stamped image as you are cranking it through and you have to stamp and die cut another butterfly. There goes one stamped image into the trash and your wasted time. Think of the money you'll save not purchasing dies! Most stamp sets only have three to four dies created for it, with my method you'll have a "die" for each stamp image. Keep in mind a die set may have a die that is unique, if that is the case, you may want to purchase the die set. ©Stampin’ Up! Oh my gosh....you can make faux dies for every Paper Pumpkin stamp set and every stamp set you own! You'll be the envy of every stamper! I will be sending out a few of these cards this Christmas. I love how the layout features some of the beautiful Joy of Christmas paper.
Our son has a business in which he sells and installs replacement doors and windows. They, of course, are the type of doors and windows that are beautiful, sturdy and new. These doors and windows are meant to keep things out of a house. Quite often they are installed and never used. Their purpose is to increase the value of the house, look new and pretty, and save energy. All good things, sure. But what about the old door? What happens to those old windows? I am one of those people who love the doors and windows that are being replaced more than the new. I especially love the really, no I mean really old ones. The wooden ones. The ones with a pane or two missing. The ones that have been around for a while and collected several coats of paint. Those that are grayed and chipped and worn. Those that have seen and heard and know things. Those are the ones for me. Of course, I can't collect every old door that Adam takes out of a house. I don't have the time or resources to save them. Quite often the guys break the glass or have to beat something out of its frame. That's one of the problems of years of painting. They become painted into place, stuck for good. Gentle nudging just doesn't cut it when you have a deadline to meet. It doesn't help that just as often the men toss the window, frame, and everything else into the trailer in an effort to clean and roll. Still, there are times that I want to tell Adam to bring the oldest of them home to me. I don't. It's not fair to him--the extra time costs money, and the extra work in often inclement weather is just asking too much, even for mom. So what's a mom to do? Use the windows and doors as inspiration for crafting ideas. One of my more recent quilts, "Old Ohio Rose," was inspired to some extent by windows. Beautiful Hyalite Opal specimens from Mexico. Great UV fluorescent green using a 365nm 10 watt light. Comes contained in Perky Box which are 1.25 inch square and contain mineral ID card identifying mineral and location. Hyalite is a form of opal with a glassy and clear appearance which may exhibit an internal play of colors if natural inclusions are present. It is also called Muller's glass, water opal and jalite. The name Müller's glass derived from the name of its discoverer, Franz-Joseph Müller von Reichenstein. Properties Hyalite's Mohs hardness is 5.5 to 6 and has a specific gravity of 1.9 - 2.1. It has no planes of cleavage but fractures conchoidally, is clear or translucent and has a globular structure. Its luster is vitreous and its streak is white. Hyalite is an amorphous form of silica (SiO2) formed as a volcanic sublimate in volcanic or pegmatic rock and is therefore considered a mineraloid. It contains 3 - 8% water, either as a silanol group or in molecular form. Uses Opalescent hyalite is used in jewellery, and well-formed samples are of interest to collectors due to their unusual appearance, mode of formation and relative rarity. It is sometimes mistaken for resin opal or silica glass since they both may appear clear and globular, but it can be identified under ultraviolet light due to its bright green fluorescence. ATTRIBUTES Opal is a delicate stone with a fine vibration. It enhances cosmic consciousness and induces psychic and mystical visions. Stimulating originality and dynamic creativity, it aids in accessing and expressing one’s true self. Opal is absorbent and reflective.
