About This Resource: This is a Google Forms Quiz on determining whether a provided function is linear or nonlinear. The instructions are easy to follow for you to make a copy of the quiz to your Google Drive. Then you can assign to your students using Google Classroom or some other method. Questions on this assessment were carefully created to give our students the best practice on the following standard. 8.F.3 - Interpret the equation y = mx + b as defining a linear function, whose graph is a straight line; give examples of functions that are not linear. What's Included: TPT has partnered with Google to automatically make a copy of my Google Form quiz into your Google Drive. Get all my 8th grade quizzes! Google Forms Quiz Entire Year 8th Grade Bundle - 20 QUIZZES TOTAL Using this with distance learning: The main challenge that my colleagues and I were having with distance learning, was how do we assess students? You can use Google Forms quizzes to assess their learning. You can set the settings to not give students the answers and this will help limit any cheating from home. I personally am using Google Forms in almost every lesson with our distance learning. Become the first to know about my freebies, sales, and new products! This worksheet is a great way for students to learn about chemical properties and how they can change matter. By coloring in different situations, students will be able to see how a chemical property can change matter so that it can't be returned to its original form. This is a great resource for any teacher looking to help their students learn about chemistry. This Chemical Properties of Matter Worksheet is a great way for students to review their knowledge about chemical properties. Whether you are looking for a review, an introduction, or an informal assessment, this worksheet will serve that purpose! What You Get: This is a 2-page printable PDF. The first page is the worksheet. The second page is the answer key. How to Implement This Chemical Properties of Matter Worksheet: A chemical property can only be observed by changing the chemical identity of a substance. (The matter is never destroyed...particles are only rearranged.) Examples of chemical properties are ability to corrode (rust), ability to explode , and ability to burn. Changes in these chemical properties can be observed by changes in color, odor, production of gases or solids, and absorbing or releasing energy. This worksheet is perfect for elementary students who are learning about chemical properties of matter. This worksheet will help them practice and improve their skills. Students will color the phrases that illustrate an example of a chemical property having been changed so that it cannot be returned to its original form. Then students will discuss the chemical properties and changes that have occurred. Students will need to identify 8 changes out of 11 options presented. You may choose to have students complete the first step independently. When it comes time to discuss, students can work with a partner or a small group to talk about the changes. The Chemical Properties of Matter Worksheet is also great as homework or an informal assessment. 100% HAND SEWN heirloom quilt by me, a third generation quilter. NO MACHINE is used during any step and the entire process - cutting, piecing, quilting, and binding, is done by my hands with a needle and thread (see last photo!) Size is Full. Pattern is a 9-patch, with a crossed “t” emphasis. The quilt is inspired by the changing of the seasons: the rich lodge hues of winter, blooming colors of spring, the warmth and sounds of summer, and the southern migration of sparrows in the fall. There is an inherent balance between the front and back materials, colors, and organic vs. inorganic forms. I believe that FUNCTION matters as much as form. That’s why the construction is 100% cotton, with a muslin back (the same material used for baby swaddles). The result is a fluffy, soft quilt that you’ll want to cozy up under. Completed in February 2023. 64” x 76”

This handout shows how to determine if a function is linear or nonlinear. It includes functions in equation form, tables, graphs and lists of ordered pairs. Great for Interactive Notebooks!
This is a foldable used to compare and contrast 3 functions: Linear, Quadratic & Absolute Value. The student records the 3 parent function equations, graphs each function by making a table of values, then identifies the domain & range of each. Finally, transformations for each function are included along with space for the student to write it in one example containing all transformations. Key included. Functions Find Someone Who In this activity, students walk around and find 10 different people to trade papers with to complete the review. The concepts covered are below: 1) Domain and Range of Ordered Pairs 2) Domain and Range of a Continuous Graph 3) Determining Relations vs. Functions (Repeating x-values or Vertical Line Test) 4) Finding the range of a function given it's domain. 5) Evaluate functions written in function notation. 6) Identifying zeros of functions given a graph 7) Finding the zero of a linear function (by setting equal to 0 and solving for x. 8) Finding the zeros of a quadratic function (by graphing on the calculator). I teach how to solve by factoring later in the year, this is just an introduction. I use this activity as a warm-up before the students take the quiz on the material. It works very well because they see all the concepts come together. Doodle graphic organizer used to develop an understanding of rational exponents. A small guided discovery allows students to derive the rule on there own! The document prints on standard paper but can be trimmed to fit a composition notebook (that's how I use it). A key is included. I have used math journals in my classroom for almost 20 years. I implemented interactive journals and struggled with the cut and paste and time involved in their creation. While I know there is a benefit, it did not work for me. These notes are the answer for my teaching style. While students are required to fill in vital information, they are not required to color. My students love getting an interesting handout instead of a generic math worksheet.
