Yayoi Kusama’s (born 1929) remarkable artistic practice has fascinated the public for over six decades. Like few other artists she moves resolutely between painting and sculpture, between art and design, and between East and West. Moderna Museet and ArkDes are now featuring Kusama in a retrospective exhibition covering her oeuvre from early nature studies to installations that suspend time and space.
We had friends coming for the weekend and I wanted to bake them something special to enjoy while they were here. I have been seeing a lot of pumpkin snickerdoodle recipes out there and decided
A new monthly series to round up anything and everything that happened in the month. Welcome to September's monthly musings.
I love these sweet and meaty quail, conker-shiny in their vaguely Chinesey marinade. As often as not, I grill them rather than barbecue them; even a blitz in a very hot oven will do. The thing is to marinate them for a good long time — at least 24 hours — so that they keep fleshy and juicy and meltingly tender no matter how brutally you cook them. For US cup measures, use the toggle at the top of the ingredients list.
My Blog is about my love of painting and artwork and DIY projects. I'm happiest with a paintbrush in one hand and a power tool in the other.
Here are vintage photos of terrifying costumes from Halloweens past. Sorry in advance for the nightmares.

Hello everyone, how is your summer so far? Today is the Fourth of July - Independence Day! If you are American, how
Rich Chocolate Cheesecake is a decadent, rich and abundantly tasty cheesecake that you must try at home. This is one recipe of the cheesecake that I have made over and over again for many parties. I love to serve the cheesecake with a strawberry compote as they are easily available in India, but if you do get raspberries then go ahead and top the cheesecake with them. Serve this Rich Chocolate Cheesecake as a dessert after a meal of Lemon Coriander Soup Recipe and Schezwan Noodle Sandwich Recipe. If you read my last post, you will see the trial version of this lesson that I did with my girls… Today I tried the color mixing project with first grade… I can’t say that they didn’t have fun!! …but my carpet will tell you that its good to put down a tarp before you paint a mural!!! I let them come up with things for me to write about Martin Luther King Jr. I was amazed at how much they remembered from our discussion. They were intrigued by the subject. I thought the cake comment was funny. I think it had to do with it being his birthday!! Kindergarten and second grade did a draw along for them to take home and remember our lesson. These are the kindergarten MLK’s And this is second grade!! They had to write three things they learned on the back.

I find cooking to be meditative! I traveled to Curacao in 2019 and cooking this dish from scratch really reminded me of the flavors of the island. I missed my last trip there so much! Since it's pumpkin season here, I wanted to feature this Arepa di Pampuna recipe! It's so delicious with tons of sweet butter and maple syrup.
I have long been a fan of Nigel Slater, his books having been instrumental in my initial forays into the kitchen, along with Nigella Lawson and, dare I say it, the Australian Women’s Weekly. One of my favourite cookbooks would have to be Appetite, a hefty book filled with amazingly delicious recipes but provided in a manner that encourages the cook to develop some intuition in the kitchen. Rather than call for, say, Read More
I'm not sure how it's been in other parts of the country (or in other countries) but the weather here in the North East has been BRUTAL this summer. It almost seems like one long heat wave. I get excited when I hear it's 'only' going to be 90 degrees. We've had non-stop 90+ degree days with close to 100% humidity. I can't remember a summer this bad before. I know the electric companies are happy with everyone's electric bill being sky high. We use our AC's as little as possible because of the expense and because they are

Soup season is here! This month, we’re making all the traditional favorites like pumpkin and chicken & corn, as well as some delicious new soup ideas (the 3-ingredient cauliflower one is genius). These soups are great value, super simple and a nutritious way to feed the family this autumn.
I’ve mentioned before my love for all the agriculture in Virginia. During the fall, that means loads of apples. I’ve been scooping up different varieties at the farmers market the past few weeks, and we’re planning to go apple picking soon. It’s easy to get obsessed with pumpkin this time of year (says the person who was looking for pumpkin at the end of August), but apples definitely deserve a place in the fall spotlight. This pancake is the epitome of a perfect fall breakfast. Warm apples, cooked in cinnamon and brown sugar, are enveloped in a batter that’s light and crisp at the edges and custardy in the center. The first time we made this, I was afraid the apples would turn mushy, but slicing them 1/2-inch thick prevents that from happening. You can use any variety of apples in this, but I especially like how tart apples balance out the sweetness of the pancake. It’s delicious on its own or sprinkled with a dusting of powdered sugar.
