Want to make pasta, but lack the motivation to do all that mixing and kneading by hand? No problem. If you have a food processor, you can have a batch of pasta dough ready in about two minutes flat. The fast-working action of the food processor blade mixes those eggs into the flour faster than your fingers ever could — and gives the dough a good kneading at the same time. The resulting dough is soft and supple.
My homemade peanut butter recipe is so simple to make. All you need is a food processor or high-powered blender and 15 minutes. I always roast my peanuts before making homemade peanut butter (even if the package says roasted). A little time in the oven warms up all the oils in the nuts and brings them to life, making our peanut butter taste even better. Oil is optional but does help if your nut butter is too thick. Any neutral oil will do the job. You should not need a lot, maybe a teaspoon or two.

Almond paste is used in many recipes. You can buy it in the baking section of most supermarkets and then tint and color it yourself, but it is much fresher and cheaper to make your own. It's good to make it at least a week in advance so that the flavor of the almonds can ripen fully. It will keep for six months, refrigerated.
Pistachio Cardamom Rose Loaf (Vegan & Gluten-free) A deliciously nutty pistachio loaf flavoured with aromatic cardamom and topped with a silky pink rose flavoured frosting. Decorated with chopped pistachios and pomegranate seeds to add a pretty pop of colour contrast. A couple of days ago I posted a pistachio cardamom thumbprint cookie recipe and it made me realise how much I love that flavour combination. As you may be able to tell this loaf is inspired by Middle Eastern flavours. Pistachios, cardamom, rose and pomegranate are all essential ingredients in Middle Eastern cooking and especially desserts. Think baklava meats Turkish delight. This is what this cake tastes like to me. And I’m a huge fan of both baklava AND Turkish delight! I absolutely love sweet, […]
Adapted from Chez Panisse Desserts Author Lindsey Shere’s notes: Serve this torte with a cup of coffee or tea or a glass of Sherry, or better, an Italian Aleatico or Passito. It is also good with sliced peaches or nectarines and crème anglaise. Be sure to buy almond paste versus marzipan, which are often placed next to each other in the baking aisle. Second, the recipe in Chez Panisse Desserts calls for 8 oz. of almond paste, but we have always just used one of those tubes that usually weighs 7 oz. If you don’t have a scale and can’t find a 7-oz tube of almond paste, measure out the 7/8 cup, but don’t pack it too tightly.
